Just what the title says, which piece of driving action do you like best from each 007 ?

For me :

Connery : Escaping the Las Vegas police in DAF
Moore : The chase by Stromberg's motorbike/car/helicopter/divers in TSWLM
Lazenby : Tracy and Bond trying to escape SPECTRE and contact London - OHMSS
Dalton : Persuing Sanchez in the tanker trucks - LTK
Brosnan : Bond and Zao battling on the ice - DAD
Craig : Escaping from Quantum's assassins - QOS

Which are your faves as there were a lot of close calls and some i had to leave out .

Great idea for a thread, @barryt007!

Connery: attempting escape from Auric's industrial grounds in GF
Lazenby: surely the car chase through the snow
Moore: I love how the TSWLM chase (Barry referred to) was shot and edited - my choice too!
Dalton: getting ready to drive straight through the road block in TLD (so bad-ass!)
Brosnan: the parking lot chase in TND
Craig: not a lot to choose from (yet) but I will pick the fast exit from the Casino Royale with the tumbling around as a tense climax.

Dalton: Aston Martin Volante chase vs. the Czech police and army in TLD
Brosnan: Parking lot chase in TND

DC: Dan's evening schedule; chase after Vesper, flip Astin Martin over eight times, get massage from Le Chiffre(CR)
  • I'm not really into Bond car chases or even that much of a motor enthusiast, but for the purpose of this thread-

Connery- The chase around the Goldfinger site
Lazenby- The car rally trying to escape Irma Bunt and associates
Moore- The car chase with Melina in Spain
Dalton - ride with D'Abo throuh the snow and over frozen waters (shed and all)
Brosnan - The scene in Hamburg (Brent Cross Shopping Center really) where Bond navigates his car
Craig - Bond races away before the car accident in Royale

I think this is a very original thread idea. Surprisingly.
Good thinking as per usual bazza. ;-)

Connery - I'm going to go with the DB5 whizzing around Auric Enterprises.

Lazenby - Well the only time he actually drives a car is during the pts, so I guess it wins be default.

Moore - For me it's driving the Alfa GTV in a mad dash to make it to the Octopussy circus on time.

Dalton - The thrilling car chase towards the Austrian border in TLD.

Brosnan - The excellent nonsense and mayhem in the multi storey car park in TND.

Craig - Giving the DBS some welly in CR chasing after LeChiffre...and then crashing it in spectacular fashion.

Lazenby: driving the aston whilst simultaneously lighting his cigarette.

Moore: driving the lotus back on to shore and dropping the fish out of the window

Dalton: driving whilst telling Saunders he scared the living daylights out of the sniper

    Brosnan: st petersburg tank chase

    Craig: QoS pts

    From memory:

    Connery: Goldfinger's chase.
Lazenby: When Bond tries to outrun Tracy.
Moore: Bond races for the bomb in Octopussy.
    Dalton: The tanker chase finale.
    Brosnan: The tank chase.
Craig: Bond on the move followed by a great looking car accident.

Which part ? The great car chase in the Citroen, or the totally cool Moore arriving at the party in his Lotus? (and calmly checks his local map)

The Citroen mainly, but all of it to be honest. :-D

Excellent thread ...my choices would be

Connery - The chase around Goldfingers factory
Lazenby - PTS ( apart from the wheelspin noise on the sand !! )
Moore - 2CV chase in FYEO
Dalton - The chase through the snow and ice in TLD
Brosnan - TND car park scence
    Craig - QOS PTS chase

Too many to choose from and so best overall is Goldfinger sequence. This was groundbreaking because of stunts, gadgets action and fun. Worst is Renault cut in half and fire engine chase from A View To A Kill and invisible Aston Martin from Die Another Day. How come the actors seem to be given their worst movies as their last.

Craig in CR driving his hired Ford Focus, driving and using the phone at the same time because it doesn't have a SatNav.

After watching TND, I really enjoyed the car chase in the hotel parking lot! Even if the car has loads of gadgets, I still think that it makes the scene even better. My favorite part is when the missile launcher thug fires the missile through the car's two broken glass holes and winds up destroying the other Carver car. Great stuff!

Connery DAF the way he handled that Mach 1 never been topped.
Lazenby Though he wasn't driving but the way Tracy handled the stock car race.
Moore FYEO have to give it to how he and Mellina handled that Citroen, what a crappy car but Moore pulled it off with flying colors !! :)
Dalton TLD the chase in Czechoslovakia in the snow
Brosnan driving that tank in GE
Craig QoS opening sequence with Mr. White in the trunk Great driving!

Connery - probably him trying to escape Goldfinger's compound in Geneva..

Lazenby - The chase from olympic village, and into the stock car race..

Moore - I really wish I could go with the boat chase from Live and Let Die - but, I would probably have to go with the chase in The Spy Who Loved Me, with the Lotus.

Dalton - definitely the ice chase with the Aston in The Living Daylights

Brosnan - even though the movie was complete trash, i did enjoy the Jaguar/Aston battle in Die Another Day.

Craig - the PTS in Quantum Of Solace... i love the way it ends, Craig calmly shooting the driver and off the cliff they fly - good stuff.

Does anyone think any driving moment in SF betters any of Craig's former ones ? eg the motorbike chase,Bond and M in the DB5 etc ?

I bought my own Aston Martin Vanquish back in 2002. Unfortunately my son Grayson damaged it and I chose to sell it. I still made a profit though as I got it from a contact I have in the industry, his name is Graham Focas.

    Connery : 1) Goldfinger's factory chase ; 2) DAF's L.A chase

Lazenby : meeting Tracy during the PTS/snow chase (OHMSS)

Moore : 1) Lotus Esprit chase (TSWLM) then the 2) 2CV chase (FYEO) - even though Moore didn't drive it actually.

Dalton : 2) Ice chase (TLD) but better, the 1) tanker chase (LTK)

Brosnan : 1) Tank chase (GoldenEye) followed by 2) Zao's chase (DAD) and the german 3) Parking chase (TND)

    Craig : QOS PTS

Just as a thought re motorbike chases with Bond,do you prefer Brosnan's chase in TND or Craig's chase in SF ?

    Connery: The GF car chase.

Lazenby: The bit in the PTS before his intro on the beach, where he's driving his car while smoking and you don't see his face. I always thought that looked cool.

Moore: The Lotus chase. It's exciting, funny and iconic. Easily the best car chase of the series imo.

Dalton: I do like the car chase in TLD but it has to be the tanker chase, my favourite finale. Jumping from a helicopter onto the tanker, dodging the rocket by tilting onto two wheels, pulling a wheelie through the fire, etc. It's just so badass, there's some amazing stunt work there. A great end to my favourite Bond film.

Brosnan: I quite like the Jag vs Aston chase from DAD and I enjoy the TND car chase but it has to be the tank chase. Ourumov is driving away and Bond comes crashing through the wall in a tank as the Bond theme kicks in, that's one of my favourite moments in the series.

Craig: I don't mind the QOS PTS but I'm actually going to go with an obscure choice. In CR, when he's chasing the bomb maker. The bomb maker dives into cover and pops his head over, looking for Bond. Then suddenly Bond crashes in with a bulldoser while the opening bars of YKMN play. It reminds me of the bit in the GE tank chase that I mentioned above. I also love how he shoots at Bond and Bond just doesn't give a shit, he carries on like nothing's happening.

Good question. I think I prefer the SF one (I think the TND one feels a bit overblown, it's too much) but I do enjoy the TND one. I love the bit where Bond jumps the bike over the helicopter, that's a great stunt.

I would have liked it to if it wasn't for the CGI blades.

Didn't know they used CGI blades. That's disappointing.
