The point is that Craig is not a tall actor. That's a fact.
I think the argument was whether he was short, not whether he was tall.

Exactly, in your opinion. The truth is that the only places where the average male height is at least 6 ft are the Scandinavian countries, Netherlands and ex-Yugoslavia.

Well I live in the Netherlands, so I don´t know why people are acting like I said a terrible thing, because it was a perfectly reasonable observation on my part.

Exactly. Every few weeks someone pops up here claiming that Craig is short. He isn't. He may not be tall, but tall and short are not the only two options...

Beetje vergelijkbaar met boezemgroote, zou ik zeggen, qua subject sensitivity bij kerels... :)

It's all relative. To me, he looked short next to Berenice. Not next to Olga or Eva. Again, that's just my impression of what I saw on screen, and it doesn't bother me in the slightest.

I thought Pierce looked short next to Famke in the casino in GE too (similar feeling of being dwarfed relative to an attractive woman in a casino as in SF).

I never thought that about Connery because his leading ladies were always shorter than him.

    It's all relative.

Dan is the same height as me, 5' 10". I stood opposite him on the red carpet at the SF premiere and we were eye to eye. I can be in a room and be one of the tallest people in there. I can also be in a room and be one of the shortest. It's about context. One thing's for sure, I've never been described as vertically challenged. As far as I'm aware the average height in the UK is 5' 9". Any other members of the 5' 10" club with me on that?

It doesn't matter any more - not like in the 50's, 60's or 70's.

Look at Cruise, or Renner for example. Or even Stallone.

Not everyone needs to be Connery, Gary Cooper, Jimmy Stewart or John Wayne these days. Relative height differences between men and women on screen have diminished, perhaps to reflect the relative changes in equality/earning power etc.

I'm just above 5'10" and I felt I was slightly taller than the average male when I was living in the UK. So yes, I do believe that the average height in the UK for a man is about 5'9".

That's ‘cos Sean is a big guy. Easily the most imposing 007 yet. But to Dan’s credit, he does manage to come across as far more threatening and imposing than his stature would suggest.
Some average size actors can do that - they have that aura & authority about them despite not being tall. Anthony Hopkins is another one that springs to mind.

Ik snap het. Zal er voortaan beter op letten. :p

In the end, I agree with @bondjames's comments.

I'm trying to catch up using Google Translate. The gist is, as they would say in Toy Story "Laser envy" ;)

It was nothing suspicious, I assure you. Merely that the question of height, or lack thereof, is often a sticky subject.

It probably is for short people. Since Craig isn't short, I do not see how it would be a sticky subject in this case.

I'm 5'5" and consider myself short, though I don't find comments on height to be a sensitive subject.

See this is why I made my last comment in Dutch... to not start all sorts of big arguments all over again.

Splendid, glad that's all sorted then.

Moving on now, SP's costume designer needs to start getting her act together. Some of the two piece suits I've seen in the pics so far have been absolute tosh.
Did like the mock turtleneck though.

What's the point of posting in a public forum if you're trying to avoid discussion? Just use the private message system.

Craig's outfit in the teaser poster was beautiful. I think just about everyone is agreed on that.

Perhaps post some pics of the villains outfits if we're too discuss that.

I think the argument was whether he was short, not whether he was tall.

No it was actually about whether he is dressed in away to give an impression that he is a bigger presence on screen next to his co-stars others just went of an tagent about what is considered short one country and big in anohter. The Wkpedia extracts posting and the arguements back and forth, all rather amusing but really annoying because it drifts way off subject.

Dan is the shortest man to play Bond true or false? He has Blonde hair. All I was saying was that wardrobe have compensated for the differences in what people perception of what pre DC Bond was (Tall, Dark) by using DC's assets to stand out more on screen his frame with tight fitting suits.

I´m drawing the line when it gets personal. When the discussion is just about Craig it´s fine, but people were starting to compare their own heights in order to make a subjective argument. That´s not gonna lead to anything except maybe hurt feelings.

I have always felt this way too @SirHilarBray, and it does make sense that they would try to accentuate the positives (his build) and downplay the relative negatives (his height).
