If you have a SPECTRE ring, you don't forget about it.

    ^^^ bit off-topic...

Back on track - firstly here's an unused line from a work-in-progress version of the trailer shown to press during a junket a while back:

    CKgfqB0WoAAOtpF.png

And, I know we didn't get this for Skyfall, but a lot, or actually, most recent blockbusters now have a third 'final' trailer released around a month or two before the film's released. Do you guys think we should get one for SPECTRE?

My opinion is that I hope so, given that by today's terms, it's a bit early for this new trailer to be the last trailer for the film, and Sony/Columbia have a good launch platform for it with their next upcoming major release that is The Walk, which is released on September 30 in IMAX cinemas and October 9 everywhere else. Plus with the final trailers, the editors are usually more creative and intriguing, given the main sell was with the theatrical trailer.

For reference: here are the theatrical (released end of July) and final (released end of September) trailers for Interstellar, which came out on SPECTRE's release window (first weekend of November) last year.

For those of us in the UK, the film comes out in just over 3 months and in that time we're going to get a barrage of SP marketing and promotion and it's going to hit hard. My biggest fear is the release of too much footage because we will see lots of additional stuff, tv spots, b-roll footage, various interviews with pics and footage from different scenes and that all within a relatively short space of time.
If we get another trailer, I hope it's just a bit shorter than this most recent one and doesn't reveal too much new footage.

@antovolk I think we'll get one more trailer as we didn't see any exterior Morocco scenes and not much of the London finale scenes.

I see it coming sometime in September.

I really hope Oberhauser and Bond have that dialogue exchange in the film. That's a great pair of lines.

Shouldn't need to worry as final trailers do tend to be shorter (closer to 2 minutes rather than the full 2:30), and while yes they do show new footage - @aaron819 makes a good point about the Morocco exterior scenes and London bits) - they are more out-of-context and on the whole, the trailers tend to be less plot-focused and more thematic (take a look at the Interstellar example I posted, I expect SPECTRE to do something similar).

I do however agree about the B-roll and the TV spots, those can be crazy spoilers-wise.

Not only that but they tend to contain better takes compared to the ones used in the final movie and one is then left lamenting.

I've seen all I need to see. If they put out a third trailer, I'm going to avoid it. Same goes for clips, I don't need to watch entire scenes that I'm going to be seeing pretty soon anyway. TV spots are a bit harder to avoid if you're watching something and then they just appear!

That's how I'm feeling now: I've seen all I need to see. These three trailers in total have shown me enough, and I'm more than amped to see the film in November, so I'll probably pass on watching the next trailer/any TV spots they release.

@tqb, you have me there! That's really what I want to try, though, because I feel like I saw and heard way too much of SF that I knew the entire film, step by step, when I went to see it. Sure, I feel like I can piece most of SP together now, but in terms of the footage and what have you, I haven't seen that much, and would love to keep it that way so I have many surprises in store come November.

I don't have nearly enough will power to avoid footage. It's been hard enough avoiding the leaks.

    Regarding Tiago Rodriguez's name If
    (a) M didn't have time to remove it, then why isn't it on the wall?
    (b) did have time, I would have thought they would have scraped off the name or removed the lettering rather than create a whole new plaque minus his name.

Great point. Seems like a potential plot hole...

Does it really matter that much?

People are looking into it way too much. Besides, M wouldn't have been the one to physically do it. I'm sure she hired someone to take his name off the wall, which they did. No plot hole, no bigger meaning, just that. No need to look into it that much.

When would she have had a chance to get someone to do it, though?

Something like that surely wouldn't require a large board meeting to figure out. I figure it could've been handled by anyone else, and if not, everyone knows it needs to be done. Could've happened after the finale.

I guess unless this is addressed in SP the movie will truly suck.

It'll be tempting for sure. I will watch more production blogs if they put them out, and I'll watch the actors on talk shows etc (though change the channel when they inevitably show a clip). The most brutal part will be that two week stretch when its out in the UK but won't be in the US until November 6, is there any way this forum won't have spoilers spilling out everywhere?

I've been thinking about this too. How the hell will we manage to avoid all the spoilers between those dates?!

As soon as it hits the UK, I won't be online until I see it, I'm sure.

Just rewatched it, can't get over how impressive that helicopter stunt is.

Just binned a couple of posts that discuss elements from the script that may have changed in the trailer release.

^^^ I'm not going anywhere near that thread!

I'm just worried Waltz's talents will not be properly utilized. For anyone who has read the script, will Oberhauser have the charisma and charm of his character Hans Landa or will he be more even keeled?

I thought this thread was unusually calm.

The charisma is brought by the actor, not the script. It's easy to write "Oberhauser is charismatic", that means nothing unless you have an actor who can deliver charisma. Sure, lines can be written to show the character has presence, but they will fall flat unless the actor can deliver. If they cast Christoph Waltz, it is because they want one with charisma to spare for a role that requires it. (Another reason why I think he is Blofeld).

Let's continue reviewing the trailer, shall we ;-). I'm also quite disappointed that plotlines from the trailer are now compared with the SonyLeaks. Thus creating inevitable answers. Guys? DON'T post them here! Or use spoiler tags. Or go to that...ehmm.....damned SonyLeaks topic :-).

Back to the review. Most people didn't like the YouTube reviews. But THIS one is pretty much more professional. It's from the latest episode of "The Schmoes Know Movie Show". The three radio presenters verbalize exactly what I think of the Craig-era of Bond films:

"This looks like the evolution of what the Bond films....the Daniel Craig Bond that we've seen so far......people were like "Ooowh, he's too Bourne-ish". Yeah, but he u]Bond[/u has slowly evolved now, turning into that Bond that we do all know now. Just look at the suit! It seems more to me that it's not just kinda like stand-alone Bond movies. They all u]the four films[/u play a part in the continuation of the story."
"One of the things they've done really well with this new iteration of Bond, meaning Daniel Craig in this new generation, iss a slow build. Like....they started it ground-zero, they started it at the beginning. And now he's coming to his own..........and I think they u]Bond producers[/u took their time u]over the course of four films[/u."
"And 'Skyfall' I think was a really well-done movie, but it wasn't necessarily a great Bond movie. But this u]'SPECTRE'[/u is gonna be 'a great Bond' movie in my humble opinion."

Here's another great online talkshow, the "Collider Movie Talk". And also here the guests were pretty much impressed by the full theatrical trailer. In my humble opinion, these people know slightly better what the Daniel Craig-era of Bond films are about:

"Oooowh, this u]trailer[/u definately worked for me! I've took three martini's today to celebrate the new SPECTRE-trailer, because it feeels like a James Bond movie."
"But now we get the real James Bond action movie that we've wanted since 'Casino Royale'. "

By the way, the trailer has hit almost 10 Million viewers (!!!) on YouTube in just 5 days. Now I call that stunning.

Ooowh sorry, but I thought this was the actual trailer-topic :-). It's a bit confusing. No harm done though. No spoilers in those videos.

Unfortunately, unless Sony release a split dialogue/sfx/music version of the trailer to press, unfortunately not. Was specially recorded for the trailer.

For those interested, did the same hi-res screencaps deal with my copy of the teaser: https://www.flickr.com/photos/antovolk/sets/72157655978929330

Hmm, just realizing that the opening "thud-thud" notes are similar to those used in the first QOS trailer. Same people putting this trailer together? Listen to 00:13 on SPECTRE and 00:55 in this :

In all honesty, rewatching that qos-trailer again kind of made me disappointed back in 2008. Despite that car chase, everything else felt like a revenge film. And while it's full of action, it doesn't have any wonderful memorable signature stunts, like a helicopter barrel roll, a chase in the snow, or a much better edited car chase.

By comparison, the spectre-trailer looks 10 times better and way way more satisfying.
