CASINO ROYALE - FOLIO EDITION

The Folio Society have just announced that they will be publishing a fabulous Folio edition of 'Casino Royale' .
It is beautifully presented in a slip case, has an introduction by John Banvile and has amazing illustrations by Fay Denton.
Priced at £34.95 it is an absolute must for any self respecting Bondologist.
The edition can only be ordered directly from www.foliosociety.com
I have several Folio editions including 'The Day Of The Jackal', 'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy' and several of Eric Ambler's and can't speak highly enough of their product. They do a great job.
The great Villiers53 also gives them his cherished 5 star award but says; "beware, the book does include some politically incorrect material that sensitive souls may find offensive!"
Trigger Mortis says just go for it but has a question for Fay Denton - why did you leave the blower off your amazing illustration of Bond's Bentley?

@00Agent I was thinking the same thing. I'm assuming it would depend on how well CR sells

I went to the site and saw no mention from the great Villiers53 nor you TriggerMortis
Maybe the comments have been taken down for some reason.
Looks like a decent book. Illustrations look fantastic, but I'm wondering who Villiers53 is and what makes him so great.

It is possible providing IFP's contract with 'Vintage' allows them to do celebritory editions with other publishers and it looks like it does.
They've done a few of Ambler's but only one Le Carre which is a bit of a shame.
The quality of their books is quite amazing and personally I think they are great value for money albeit, the great Villieurs53 always bitches about the price but there again, he bitches about everything!

    Why would there be?

It's just in your opening post it made it look like it was an excerpt from the site.

Having no idea who any of them are it's pretty meaningless really.
Like saying my neighbour liked the book. No offence of course.

I sent a message to the support, but no answer.I will only use the picture in this forum.
I made a search about Licence Renewed and Found out about The INGLIS HI power 9mm Browning that supposedly was eventually equipped with a Hiram Maxim Silencer.
I think that is what is seen on the cover-that was introduced shortly before the end of WW I I, an authentic arm for some Bondage...

None taken old boy, either by the great Villieurs53 or by myself and we agree, your intervention is pretty meaningless.

They've done a few of Ambler's but only one Le Carre which is a bit of a shame.

The Folio Society have published three of Le Carré's books, I believe; Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Honourable Schoolboy, and Smiley's People. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is the only one currently in print, but the other two do come up on the secondary market.

I've pre-ordered two copies of this. It looks stunning on the website. I particularly like Fay Dalton's illustrations. It would be wonderful to have hardbacks of all the Bond novels, and The Folio Society usually do a first class job with their releases. Fingers crossed there will be more titles to follow from them.

That is interesting. Hopefully they'll do another run.

How right you are. They do look fabulous. I've got both the Bentley and Easton press editions but it didn't stop me ordering this one and Fay Dalton's illustrations are absolutely amazing. I do hope she is going to sell prints!

I tried emailing her (via her website) last Tuesday about purchasing some prints, but have yet to receive a response.

Look believe me Trigger, he wasn't that great, and even you accept he was a bitch. Move on.

Thanks for this Casino Royale news. I've just ordered a copy (along with a Philip K Dick book I had been keeping an eye on).

Also, I found a voucher code PT10 that has given me 10% off. Hopefully that helps someone.

Good catch. Unfortunately, I missed this but fortunately the great Villieurs53 has taken advantage of it.
I've written to Fay Dalton to see if she is selling the prints. I think they are fabulous - particularly the one of Vesper and the visual of the Bentley.

Agreed, though there's one print that definitely won't be going up in my library. Makes me cringe just to think about it.

Thanks for the heads-up, @TriggerMortis. I've just pre-ordered a copy of this book and it will certainly take pride of place on my shelves. It would be great to have larger copies of the illustrations in the book that could be framed.
