Oddest moments that make you laugh

I want to make a distinction, that this discussion is neither about intentional or unintentional (so bad it's good) humor in the James Bond franchise. Instead, this is about any random moment. So, what moments in the series have you laughing that others might not understand?

I was watching A View to a Kill last night. When Bond is underwater in San Francisco area, investigating Zorin's seawater pumpage... Bond's air tank is sucked into the propeller.

For some reason, the visual, sound, and the reaction of Zorin and Conley of this air tank causing the propeller to jam and malfunction had me laughing a lot! =))

Maybe I'm strange, but that is the idea for this discussion. :P

    1. In SF: Bond's wtf look at Q (not knowing yet that he is Q) at the museum.
    2. In TB: Derval's wicked sweaty pits
    3. In DN: When Bond falls backwards, after being shocked by the grate in his cell.
    4. In DAF: "There goes that son-of-a-bitchin' saboteur!"
    5. In LTK: Bouvier's "tsk tsk tsk" after looking at the size of Bond's gun.

    LOL! Nice ones! :))

Your name is a reference to the card dealer in Casino Royale? Awesome! :)

Some of the first ones I can think of:

    1. Barbara Bach says "When this mission is over, I will kill you". Not the most convincing threat in the world :)
    2. Connery on the spine stretching machine in Thunderball
    3. Blofelds reveal in YOLT
    4. Brosnan's woice suddenly turning into whining mode in a confrontational scene with Electra; "he knew about my shoulder" (or whatever the exact quote is...)
    5. Paris slapping Brosnan in TND

    LOL! Great stuff! :))

Here are oddly comical moments for me from Casino Royale.

Bond tying his shoe outside the club.

The look on Bond's face whilst in the knife struggle with Dimitri.

Here is one that always has me rolling about on the floor laughing in YOLT:

Just after Blofeld gets shurikened in the hand by Tanaka, he glides away on the monorail. Then there is a shot of him gliding round the curve of the volcana with the most overdramatic music from Barry. Hilarious. :))

The mention of YOLT reminds me - the scene where Blofeld shoots Osato is laughable since his aiming is so wonky and slow. Connery had ample time to disarm him, IMO.

What about the bit when the bomb hits the 'impregnable' bit of the base and Blofelds cat is scared out of its skin by the blast. Always makes me laugh, although I do feel sorry for pussy.

Blofeld's cat had a sheer evil look in that movie, though.

I always like to think that Connery's boredom and disinterest was the reason why he didn't suddenly strike a blow to the constantly slow, frail and vulnerable Blofeld in YOLT. I mean, at least in DAF, he never got a chance to get close to the real one and do something like that. In YOLT, particularly the pitiful execution scene of Osato, Connery should've just whipped out his karate chop and incapacitated Blofeld. I know it's a 60's movie, but even in FRWL the executions and action scenes were far more convincing.
  • Me and my sister always chuckle at the scene in TWINE when Bond reveals the revelation to Renard that Elektra is dead and he goes crazy. It's just Brosnan's overreaction and the sound he makes when he gets beaten up and knocked down.

Also, just before that, Blofeld's delivery of this: "Goodbye, Mr. Bond!" =))

The flashlight incident in Skyfall is the epitome of a LOL moment, if unintentionally. Or was it meant to provoke laughter?

    Good idea for a thread!

I have no idea why, but I got into a fit of giggles the second time I saw CR in the cinema - due to the pineapples in Bond's hotel room, just before he discovers Vesper in the shower.

I just pictured him spotting the pineapples, really fancying some, and starting to tuck into them whilst sitting on the floor. The image of Bond sat on the carpet munching away on pineapple, unaware that Vesper is getting soaked next door, really tickled me.

But nobody else finds this funny (nor would I expect them to!

The eyebrows on the guy who dies in the vat of green mud in the PTS of DAF. Talk about a massive unibrow.

Live and Let Die - Mr. Bell in the airplane
Her face when Bond enters the plane/bids her farewell, and, "Holy shit"

Brosnan's facial expressions caught in various stills.

    Dalton's "Rocky" scream for Della.

    John Logan.

The Dalton "you're full of it" line.

    Almost every innuendo from Moore.

    Q's ghetto blaster line.

(yes last three aren't unintentional... sorry brain lapse I'm tired.)

...and lol @TripAces that's a good one. You think they should have tried to at least pluck some of those.

A couple of things that always gets me is in OHMSS. After Lazenby gets the better of the fella in the hotel room, he's on the floor, tries to get up and just rolls his eyes back and falls. Looks a little unconvincing a makes me snigger slightly. Also, Ruby telling us the she's from "Morecambe Bay, actually" still gets me as that's where I currently work. A Bond girl from around here, albeit not actually real.

    Great comments all!

Here's another one for me from Casino Royale.

The zoom in of the camera, and the look on Le Chiffre's face, after he sees the bodies in the car trunk. :))
  • Another one for me is OHMSS when Bond is discovered and finds Irma Bunt in bed, "Fancy meeting you here fräulein" *Whack*, a laugh out loud moment.

Some of these scenes really are funny, aren't they?

Also, I know this was a blooper, but the way Connery tilts his Ford Mustang in DAF after putting it on two wheels through the narrow alleyway makes me laugh. How on earth are we supposed to believe that he could flip his car over like that lol

My snigger moment is in OP when Bond takes player's privilege and uses Khan's "lucky dice" and says "Double six. Fancy that!", without even looking down at the dice.

    lol That's gold, indeed.

Also, I can't believe I forgot to mention that in Tomorrow Never Dies, when Kaufman has his gun trained on Bond, there's a moment where Bond looks away at Paris Carver's corpse, and he does it without a care in the world. Wonderful.

OP really is top notch, hopefully now I have the blurays I'll get round to watch it again. :D
  • Another two for me would be again OHMSS "James how do we get out!!" just random that she says it twice exactly the same and her mouth doesn't move lol!!

The other is from DAF "Cai!....Cai!...Cairo!!!"
  • I think the funniest moment is in DAF when the guy gets on his quad bike, feigns 'getting comfortable' and still Sean hasn't knocked him off yet. He just has to keep sitting there for no reason other to wait to be knocked off. Really don't know why they didn't retake the shot.

A lot of the acting and dialogue throughout TWINE from the opening scene at the banker's office in Bilbao to the ending scene with Christmas in Turkey.

007: "The name's Bond, James Bond"

    Max Kalba: "What of it?"

That gets me every time I watch TSWLM. A super deadpan reply to Moore's 007.

Also get a laugh from the still of RM during the pyramid scenes.
