24 has kind of done that theme to death which is a shame IMHO as it would make an unusual Bond movie and add some much needed tension.

I have said this before and I will stand by it and say it again: I would like to meet some of the other "00's"
Fleming mentions three : 007, 008, 0011 and they shared office space at Mi6. Now Q mentions a 009 in SP.

I think we are ready to see some other associates and like Auric Goldfinger said, "Members of your curious profession are few.."

And I would like for one to be female....
  • I don't have story ideas, but here are some cities that I want to visit in the next few films:

    1. Singapore
    2. Cape Town
    3. Barcelona
    4. Toronto
    5. Moscow
    6. Buenos Aires
    7. Tehran
    8. Sydney
    9. Marseille
    10. Chicago
  • @James_Suzuki Interesting idea...but what would Bond's reason be not to get help from mi6? Why not tell M?
Maybe its because he wants to be the one who brings Blofeld in (Who has escaped), and in revealing that he is dying, he'd be taken off the case?

I feel like there is a balance needed in Bond 25 between the 'classic' Bond elements we all love, and the 'deep, emotional' storylines which are popular with a new audience in Skyfall and Casino Royale.
    How about this.
In the Pre-titles, Bond gets poisioned. He plays it down however Q examines him and informs him that the toxin is deadly and that he has only three days to live before he dies.
He begs Q not to tell M or anyone about this, and his mission is to not only track down the terrorist in the pre-titles, (m's orders) but to find the anditote in time, before he dies.
They could really play up the ticking clock element.
Bond desperate, lying to MI6 about his health, living what he thinks is his final days on earth.

Interesting. But it's hard to believe that there is a toxine that has an antidote and Q or someone at MI6 can't make it. Only if the antidote is made out of some rare fruit or plant that they don't have. But in that case, why wouldn't Q go after it ? We've seen he can get "out of his bedroom" in Spectre.

Yes. something like that. Rare poision.
Maybe Bond is told that there is no anditote!
So the whole film is him thinking that he has only a few days left.

Me too. Although it would be cool if they had a twist to it - still very faithful but something different about it too, to keep it suspenseful for fans of Fleming's novels.

Can't agree, we got 006 in Goldeneye. I think it's time to stop the Team MI6 thing, we need a Bond solo mission. We haven't had this really since Casino

QOS he had Mathis, Fields and Camile (M and Tanner in the field, even though to initiall try and stop him).
Skyfall we had Kincaide, M, Moneypenny, Tanner, Q and Mallory.
    Spectre pretty much everybody again.

I get that you can't bring back a cast with their profile and credentials and not give them screen time, but Skyfall and Spectre sacrifices a lot in order to give MP, Tanner, M etc. enough screen time. Which takes away from the pace of the scenes involving Bond they are rushed to accommodate sub plots to involve the supporting case. This needs to be stripped back in Bond 25. M, MP, Q and Tanners scenes should be limited to a few moments so the scenes with Bond can breath and be more natural like Connery first 3 films where it is about Bond.

I wouldn't necessarily say they are rushed to accommodate subplots. I can understand if people don't want to overexpose the MI6 stalwarts, but these last two films are a good 30/40 mins longer than a standard Connery. The supporting cast don't take up that amount of time sans Bond, so on balance the films haven't rushed them, they've elongated the narrative and accommodated them within it. I wasn't keen on the way it was handled in SF, particularly MP, but SP showed more promise and I genuinely bought the chemistry. They just need to flesh out Tanner in incidental scenes.

For me this is a part of the era and I don't think you can just bin it off in the twilight of Craig's run. I'm happy for them to push this angle in the way they did in SP for one more Craig outing.

Following that, I'd keep Fiennes, but start afresh (new actor) and include Ponsonby, introduce a housekeeper and have a new Tanner that is integral to MI6 affairs and good mates with Bond. Ditch MP and potentially drop Q for a while.

I've read an article somewhere that said Bond having a maid is racist (even though, I never understood that since May was Scottish.) I for one would love to see May Maxwell getting a part in the film series.

Racist? If that is true I would love to read the article. Hilarious.

I know a lot of people were against it, but I'd have absolutely bought Kincade as Bond's housekeeper in this era, post SF. With a new Bond I would enjoy May or a similar updated incarnation. But more of Bond's flat and stick MI6 back near Regent's Park.

As long as Daniel Craig returns one more time as 007 I don't care what they do with the story. I just hope it's a phenomenal send off for him.

London (and in particular Westminster and bl**dy Vauxhaul Bridge) need to be temporarily banned from getting more than one scene in the next few outings. It is getting quite ridiculous. This is not an extension of 'Spooks' for goodness sake.

So I had this idea floating around in my head several weeks ago as we got closer to SP, then as I read through this board, it started taking shape, especially with inspiration (both explicit and otherwise) from the contributions of BondJasonBond006 and WhiteroseLU, whom I should certainly credit with putting some of these ideas out there first (including the title and some of the casting decisions). Seriously, there are some amazing ideas being put forward here and I don't want to take credit away from anybody who deserves it, but I think this board can certainly lead towards a neat collaboration towards the type of Bond movie we think is in the best interest of the character we all know and love. This is simply the PTS, but I'll be working on this more as a way to stay sane while also finishing my doctoral dissertation.

    ***

We begin with the SP gun barrel, and as the screen turns red with blood, the image on screen becomes that of a street half-illuminated with red light from a brothel, setting the scene in Amsterdam. A man walks out and starts walking along the canal, and we see another man stalking him in the shadows. He's broad-shouldered, carries himself with a certain swagger, and we're certain that it's Daniel Craig, until he steps into the light for a moment and it's Idris Elba. A cutaway to MI6 HQ shows analysts looking at a screen, following blips and somebody saying '008 in pursuit of target.' Elba keeps tracking his man, but then an analyst expresses alarm at some anomaly that has shown up nearby just as Elba realizes that he himself is being stalked. More cutaways reveal other agents finding themselves in danger at the same time: 004 in Johannesburg, 005 in Vancouver, 009 in Laos, and at MI6, another analyst says "Send message: 007, evac immediately."

Cutaway to a swanky party on the North Coast of Jamaica, where a number of men in tuxedos, each of whom looking like a 'generic' secret agent, turn their heads for a fit, attractive red-haired woman making her way through the party towards the ostentatiously wealthy host and his entourage. At the last minute she checks her phone, sees the message, and instead heads out, only to see multiple shadows waiting for her. Heading an alternate route, she then encounters more shadows; instead of getting into a defensive stance, she attacks first, and proves her worthiness to the 007 namesake. However, one the attackers gets lucky and strikes her with a grave wound. Struggling to get away, she knows there's one more shadow behind her, and as she turns to fight, she then realizes the size of her assailant, and we see a smiling face: Hinx. 007's signal goes out on the MI6 screen, along with those of 004, 005, and 009.

One more cutaway takes us back to 008, who is fighting his way through and up the Oude Kerk; he finds himself in the tower, out of bullets, and confronted by an assailant with a bomb strapped to himself. As the bomb goes off, 008 jumps towards the canal; the shockwave clearly affects 008, as he appears unconscious while falling towards the water. We don't see him die, however, his signal turns off at MI6 HQ as well. An analyst can be heard saying "Get M down here" and is answered with "He's already on his way." Just then a message, in huge Cyrillic letters, pops up on the screen – "Smiert Spionam". M, Moneypenny, Tanner and Q show up just in time to see the words translate to "Death to Spies", and when the Spectre logo pops up underneath, M's face goes from shock to anger, and with resolve in his voice, says "Find Bond." Begin credit sequence.

As M and Moneypenny try to extract information from Blofeld, Bond must come back from retirement to lead MI6's remaining forces and find the formidable Irma Bunt, though it means the end of his relationship. When the Defence Minister makes a deal to set Blofeld free in exchange for keeping Britain safe, Bond and his friends, both old and new, mount a full-out assault on Spectre's mountain fortress, Shatterhand, and engage their ultimate enemy in a fight to the death.'

I love the idea of Bond and his fellow 00s storming a Blofeld HQ; that is the ultimate finale to me, a real TSWLM styled clash. I even think Bunt was mentioned in one of the leaks, so she is already on EON's mind. And of course, Tilda Swinton is an inspired choice.

EON, if you're reading this, feel free to rip this forum off for ideas. None of us would mind.

    'Death to Spies'
    The 25th Bond Movie, 9 November 2018
Ian Fleming's James Bond 007: Daniel Craig

'MI6 realizes that Spectre's reach is even greater than they imagined, as a new adversary starts taking out Double-O agents around the world.

    Irma Bunt: Tilda Swinton
    Hinx: Dave Bautista
    Blofeld: Christoph Waltz

    004: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau
    005: Alexa Davalos
    008: Idris Elba
    007: Hayley Atwell
    009: Louis Changchien
SAS Task Force Commander: Rufus Sewell
    Minister of Defence: Charles Dance
    Felix Leiter: Jeffrey Wright

    M: Ralph Finnes
    Q: Ben Whishaw
    Moneypenny: Naomie Harris
    Tanner: Rory Kinnear

You lost me at idris Elba

Is there a reason for this? Because I think the idea of having him as another Double-0 who works with Bond would be great on multiple levels: it utilizes his star power with another fan base, further increases the 'serious actor' quality of the Bond franchise over the other action movies, all the while legitimately incorporating him into a Bond movie without going through the whole controversy of why he should/shouldn't be 007 (thus negating what could be a troublesome part of the next few years and the post-Craig era).

No way after everything over the Elba and Bond thing would Elba agree to be another 00 agent. I think he was very clear he wanted to be Bond but it became a race issue for him and has said even if offered it now it would be tainted and he would not be "Elba the great actor playing Bond but instead it would be Elba the black Bond" his words. For Elba to then accept a role as another agent would be like him saying yes I agree I shouldn't be Bond because I am black so I will accept being another agent who's race wont be questioned. Not going to happen. I have said on the forum many times for me Chiwetel Ejiofor is a far more Bond type actor than Elba and a far bigger acting talent take your idea and swap out Elba for Chiwetel Ejiofor I would be happy with that.

As for the idea "008 jumps towards the canal; the shockwave clearly affects 008, as he appears unconscious while falling towards the water. We don't see him die"

Sounds like PTS from Skyfall with Bond falling to the water and you think he might be dead. The concept sounds more like a 008 spin off movie with Idris Elba. Why would you want to take focus away from Dan and Bond by giving the audience Elba as 008 to think about. That would just create debate if Elba outshines Dan and that Elba should have been Bond lol. Also again too much Team Mi6 stuff I would rather a good old fashioned Bond adventure ala Dr No - Keep him away from the UK from SIS/M/Q/MP make the movie about Bond no distractions. William Boyd - Solo style

I'm open to Ejoifor as well, I just think that much of this controversy has been overplayed and would likely go away very quickly and quietly if EON went to Elba and said 'Here's our idea, we want you to be part of this franchise, work with us on creating a 008 that can shine even in a limited role', I think he'd jump at the chance and then help EON tamp down any brushfires that lit up.

That was something that I kept playing around with, because I know how similar it is to Skyfall, but I couldn't think of a better plot device for 'not dead, but they think he is.' Two things though: 1) there's enough other action happening in the PTS that it won't be focused so much on 008 as you might think, because it's setting up how, instead of just being Bond in danger, or MI6 in abstract being at risk, you have all of these specific agents being killed with no mercy, to establish the totality of how much Spectre is now waging war against MI6 as revenge for the events in Spectre. And 2) in my conception of this movie, 008 will have a limited (albeit essential) role in helping Bond later on in the movie, so he won't get much of a chance to outshine DC. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate you keeping me on my toes as I develop this, but I won't let the movie get away from Bond!

The focus of the movie, more or less, would be to give DC the opportunity for a big blow-out of a finale, with elements of YOLT, TSWLM, and FRWL, by putting Bond in context with the organization behind him and the organization that he's facing in the toughest fight of his life. We've seen his Bond go rogue, we've seen him be saved by luck, we've seen him be at odds with M and Q, and we've seen him have to 'earn' the trust of both Ms multiple times. In this movie, there won't be any of that: Bond has the full trust of M to go find Spectre no matter what the cost, he'll be tasked with regrouping MI6 (as befits a Commander), he'll still be on his own for the bulk of the movie while tracking Bunt and facing down Hinx, then for the climax he'll team up with the remaining Double-Os and SAS for the massive Shatterhand assault, and then achieve closure with Swann, Bunt, and Blofeld at the end, which allows for EON to do what they want with Bond 26 afterwards (meaning they could reboot if they feel the need, or simply cast a new agent that picks up in a world where Spectre has been cast to the wind for the time being).

Appreciate that. The concept of agents being killed, followed etc is too soon after Skyfall after numerous agents names were released by Silva (now know Blofeld authorised it) to end up executed. It's just to similar too soon. Whatever happens Bond has to regret not puting s bullet I'm Blofeld and that has to be killing Madeleine.

I'm chomping at the bit for the rest of your treatment, outlawgenius! Might I suggest posting it in the Fan Fiction section so it doesn't get lost and buried in this massive thread?

Another thing I realized as I was writing it, but keep in mind that in Skyfall, it's more of a 'Oh these random agents' names got leaked to the enemy' and we don't really have any connection with them (they're almost more of a McGuffin than anything else), whereas here it would be Double-0s being killed in front of us on screen, targeted without MI6 knowing how, and all of us realizing that Spectre is more dangerous than we previously considered. But yes, these things can be changed even more to make them less repetitive to us obsessive fans. And I haven't quite figured out how Swann will factor into this, though obviously she will, and yes, Bond will have to resolve his regret and anger towards both Blofeld and Bunt.

Exactly. I just want a great film, regardless of where the ideas come from, and to my mind, DC deserves a YOLT-level battle for his last go-round.
