Is the problem that no one wants to distribute bond?

I'm still thinking that what happened with the Sony leaks for Spectre that EON is being very hush hush. I think Bond 25 is being worked in right now and we just don't know it

We do know it's being worked on.

It's a case of waiting for some traction on the distribution.

Exactly. Won't be able to execute what they are planing until.

I say it's time for Barbara Broccoli and Michale G Wilson to retire from the Bond franchise. They are tired and they are out of ideas. They should leave with dignity and hand the keys to Bond over to Gregg Wilson. Better yet, give those keys to Christopher Nolan.

Wilson might retire, but Babs is not anytime soon.

If reports are to be believed, Sony didn't make too much on either SF or SP. Given the pressures facing the industry, and EON/MGM's desire for control (in comparison to other franchises), I can imagine some hesitation on the part of the big studios. They may have to give up more of the pie this time to attract a suitable distributor.

'The Kids Stay in the Picture', the play BB and MGW are producing has pushed its release date back and is possibly eyeing a Broadway transfer.

Okay so- MGM can't distribute it but yet they want to make most of the money, and so nobody wants to work with them?

I'm not sure about all the details and the accounting is complex. I do know that Sony got screwed on the last two films, and MGM/EON made most of the profit on the film release. Either the budget has to be seriously curtailed or they need to strike a deal with a greater % of the profit going to the studio. So hard bargains are probably being driven out there, especially since SP didn't do as well as SF, and also because the US $ remains very strong in relation to other currencies where Bond makes its box office gross in comparison.

Yeah, Sony's deal is such that they only get about 25% of the profits and when you deduct everything/costs; Sony are left taking less than $100 million; and that's factoring in SF's overall BO intake. Damn.

You won't get another bond film this decade, only two this decade (the worst count of any decade since bond began on the big screen) bond is not in good hands!

I maintain the belief if it keeps going like this, which... well so far it has, then we'll get only one film in the next decade, and zero in the following effectively ending the franchise as we know it.
That's unless some serious consideration and motivation goes into the future of the series.
With the information that a helicopter was purchased for B25, it doesn't seem the project is completely dead. Perhaps things will still turn around sooner than later?

@ColonelSun The pre-production of Spectre was a huge mess and a borderline disaster.. Yes, Casino Royale and Skyfall are truly great movies and the producers do deserve credit for them, but I personally lost all faith in Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson thanks to what I learned from those leaked Sony e-mails.

People change. It's difficult to continue to remain enthused about certain art. It's possible that they've lost some of their fire. We'll know for sure when the next one comes out.

Don't mention those leaked emails unless you don't mind @Gustav biting your head off and breathing down your neck.

The worst thing about those emails is that some those that read them suddenly think they're film producers.

Blofeld being a woman was dropped for a word then immediately dismissed as a stupid idea. As for Bond killing Oberhauser on the bridge, not sure that was intended to be Blofeld as in the script he was called Heinrich Stockmann.

    Not quite.

    1) There was a version where Blofeld was a woman.

    2) There was another version where Bond killed Blofeld on the bridge.

There was also a version with the villain as an African warlord who used Blofeld as an alias.

Who cares. What matters is the final product. Judge it for what it is, not what it could have been.

The last 11 posts have nothing to do with Bond 25.
Some of you are just going over the same stuff over and over. I don't understand why you can't be patient, and wait for news...WHEN IT ARRIVES.
Just because we're Bond fans and many of us have been for a longtime. It doesn't mean that MGM or EON are going to keep us informed all the time. Despite what several of you think, they have no obligation too.
