Interesting that you have OP and NSNA in the exact same spot.

I always like to keep them tied as their competitive releases in '83 is what had really gotten me into Bond when I was a kid.

Back then I preferred NSNA. Now I would rank them about the same, just like you.

Me, too. I vividly remember the day my folks took me to see OP. As we left the cinema, my Dad mentioned that Sean was doing his own Bond film and it was coming out later in the year. I was intrigued and couldn't wait. It was pretty cool back then.
I loved OP as well. That was the first Bond we got on VHS and I watched it over and over, so both films I have a soft spot for.

Even though OP came out first, I saw it after NSNA, durinng a reprise, and was rather disappointed, compared to FYEO.

I try to rank the films based on how much I enjoy them, GF is often high on many people's rankings for example, though I find the majority of GF dull other elements in GF keeps it dropping lower.

Not a bad list. A tad harsh on some of the Roger Moore entries mind.

Lost all credibility when the author thinks that 'Jaws falling in love' was one of the better moments in Moonraker....

Ha ha. True. The worst moment in the franchise so far.

CR 67 is utter s***t. It's disappointing that a classic actor such as David Niven would star in such incoherent trash and irritating that one has to sit trough hours of the prat that is Peter Sellers hogging the screen.

Unfortunately, after the introductory sequences, CASINO ROYALE 67 begins a downhill slide. It gets progressively sillier and more incoherent until it's impossible to keep any of the plot elements straight. Worse, with only occasional exceptions, the humor ceases to be funny, and the whole production degenerates into absurdity.

Despite an impressive cast that includes such notables as Niven, Orson Welles, Jean-Paul Belmondo, and Jacqueline Bisset, CASINO ROYALE 67 is too ridiculous and muddled to be of more than passing interest to real Bond enthusiasts. The few good aspects of this farce (Niven & Welles) are vastly outweighed by the bad.

We did get a good fantastic soundtrack out of it so not all bad.

    Basically the original Austin Powers.

Ok parts of the soundtrack are good, I agree. BUT, the original Austin Powers is different as it was actually funny. CR67 isn't.

It's one I loved immediately as a kid and had forgotten how much I liked it. Deserves a top 10 spot for sheer enjoyment alone, IMO.

Your low ranking of QOS and love of SP are the only large differences we have. And I guess we have TLD and OP pretty far apart.

Those often vary for me. Sometimes I'll watch QoS and enjoy to the point I rank it higher. I loved it in the cinemas (except for the gunbarrel ). Very tight and fast paced. Olga was a great Bond girl IMO. At the time I didn't understand the negative reactions it was getting.
Now I find that the earlier films I tend to watch far more often. SP is one I like many things about it (Monica Bellucci), but have a hard time getting thru all the way in a single viewing.

    Slightly updated ranking, in tiers:

Tier 1 (These have been my 5 favorite Bond films for a long time now. Besides the occasional switch of GE and SF, these films are consistent in their spots as my all-time favorite Bond movies. I've watched all of them to death and never get bored with them.):
    1. Casino Royale
    2. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    3. Goldfinger
    4. Skyfall
    5. GoldenEye
Tier 2 (These ones aren't quite as beloved as my top tier films, but they're pretty close behind, and certainly the next best thing. Minimal issues.):
    6. The Spy Who Loved Me
    7. Dr. No
    8. From Russia with Love
    9. Licence to Kill
Tier 3 (Pretty good Bond movies here, but pacing problems and other minor issues hold them back a bit for me. LALD and FYEO are quite interchangeable.):
    10. For Your Eyes Only
    11. Live and Let Die
    12. Thunderball
    13. The Living Daylights
    14. You Only Live Twice
Tier 4 (This is the middle ground area for my list; there is a lot I like about these films, but also a fair amount I didn't. They are decent-enough Bond films for me, but more noticeable flaws keep them below the Top 14.):
    15. Spectre
    16. Quantum of Solace
    17. Octopussy
Tier 5 (If I'm in the mood, these two can be pretty fun Bond films, but if not, they are a mixed bag.):
    18. Tomorrow Never Dies
    19. A View to a Kill
Tier 6 (The Bottom 5. I don't hate any of these, but they are certainly my least-enjoyed of the EON Bond films. I find things to like about all of them, but they have to stay at the bottom section. I used to enjoy TMWTGG and TWINE a lot more. Those, as well as MR and DAD, are interchangeable for me.):
    20. The Man with the Golden Gun
    21. The World Is Not Enough
    22. Diamonds Are Forever
    23. Die Another Day
    24. Moonraker

Newest list online I found. For those who don't even care to look, it goes:

    25. The World Is Not Enough
    24. Tomorrow Never Dies
    23. Die Another Day
    22. Spectre
    21. Octopussy
    20. A View to a Kill
    19. Quantum of Solace
    18. Never Say Never Again
    17. Licence to Kill
    16. Moonraker
    15. The Man with the Golden Gun
    14. Diamonds Are Forever
    13. For Your Eyes Only
    12. You Only Live Twice
    11. Thunderball
    10. The Living Daylights
    9. The Spy Who Loved Me
    8. GoldenEye
    7. Dr. No
    6. Live and Let Die
    5. Skyfall
    4. Goldfinger
    3. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    2. From Russia with Love
    1. Casino Royale

Mixed feelings about this list. I don't really care for the way 25-14 were ranked, save for DAD and AVTAK. Though out of order, his picks for the Top 13 are at least pretty close to mine, with just LTK missing out and replaced by YOLT.

Kudos on a couple of brave choices (MR over LTK, for instance) but he has OP and TSWLM quite low. He also seems to be a fan of the 70's Hamilton Bonds, which I consider the weakest era in the Bond franchise (only 1997 - 2002 gives it a run for its money). Couldn't give any reasoning for why he suddenly liked DAF again, and he speaks of Moonraker like it's average. It's formulaic, of course, but surely the outrageousness of it all gives it the "outlier" status that he cherishes so much?

MR, TMWTGG, and DAF are all too high for my liking. SP, OP, and LTK too low. I think it’s interesting that he has two Craig films in his Top 5 then two in his Bottom 7. For me, I also have CR and SF in my Top 5, but QoS and SP are much more near the middle than the bottom.

Absolutely! Credibility was established right away when I saw that (at first I thought they had ranked it 1st until I realized it was worst to best).

I have OP & LTK much higher, but I can understand why they placed them there (goofiness in the former and lack of finesse/style in the latter).

I have seen each Bond film once with the exception of some of the Roger Moore films which I've seen a second time in summer break.

I remember putting a list together in one of my early posts but I realize how difficult and almost useless it is to do so.

Here are a few films that definitely will make it up high in a ranking: Goldfinger, Dr. No, Golden Eye, Skyfall, The Spy Who Loved Me, OHMSS, Moonraker, Diamonds Are Forever.

Trying to rank them with a bigger emphasis on how well I think they managed they achieve what they set out for. Had some pretty eccentric results.

    4. The Spy Who Loved Me
    5. GoldenEye
    6. Thunderball

My last ranking before my backwards Bondathon that I plan to start in January:

    1. Casino Royale
    2. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    3. Goldfinger
    4. Skyfall
    5. GoldenEye
    6. The Spy Who Loved Me
    7. Dr. No
    8. From Russia with Love
    9. Licence to Kill
    10. For Your Eyes Only
    11. Live and Let Die
    12. Thunderball
    13. The Living Daylights
    14. You Only Live Twice
    15. Spectre
    16. Quantum of Solace
    17. Octopussy
    18. Tomorrow Never Dies
    19. A View to a Kill
    20. The Man with the Golden Gun
    21. The World Is Not Enough
    22. Diamonds Are Forever
    23. Die Another Day
    24. Moonraker

I could see DAD and MR swapping and OP moving up a little possibly.

I had a little time and was trying to put the Bond movies in an order. Certainly not an easy task.

    My Top 12:

The top 3: I can tell you that they probably will stay there. I am amazed at the quality of all three.

    On Her Majesty’s Secret Service
    Dr. No
    Casino Royale

    Goldfinger (Switzerland yay!)
    You Only Live Twice
    The Spy Who Loved Me
    Skyfall
    Diamonds Are Forever
(secretly this is my favorite Bond film he he...)
    GoldenEye
    For Your Eyes Only
    Thunderball
The Man With The Golden Gun
(my favorite villain in the series)

Ranking all of the films would be too early and get dubious results as I have seen the films once only, except for some of Moore's I have seen twice.

I can give you the film that comes dead last in my ranking and always will. An easy choice.
QoS, what a mess of a movie. A total disaster given the fact it follows one of the greats, Casino Royale. Even more astonishing is it for me that it follows CR directly and still the film couldn't drift away more in style and tone. If there hadn't been the Tosca sequence I may in fact have turned it off. Films like QoS are exactly the reason why I hate new content and will never get into it. When filmmakers seem to think we want shaky camera action and hyper fast cutting, then something has gone wrong.
I was SO relieved to see that the next film Skyfall was one brilliant classic Bond film again.

As the thread's title says "no details" I won't add anything further.

That's a great list, but where's FRWL? Personally, I rank QOS, and LALD, in the pretty high.

Well that's interesting because FRWL and LALD would come next! I was thinking to put them there instead of Thunderball and TMWTGG but in the end I like TB better overall and TMWTGG has the best villain, he is just incredible and I am tempted to check out some other work of Christopher Lee.

No. I had it pretty low at first. I just like it more with each viewing. It's been a steady climb. Now I find it to be an almost perfect Bond film, the perfect length. I had to get over that it was intentionally throwing away the Bond conventions ("Bond, James Bond", opening gun barrel, etc.). That bothered me for a long time, but, like FYEO putting MR in perspective, SF put QOS in perspective. I can watch it for what it is, rather than think of it in terms of the state of the franchise.

I’m hoping it can jump up a little for me. CR and SF are easily my favorite Craig films; QoS and SP tend to vary based on my mood. You’ll be happy to know I think QoS will surpass SP my next Bondathon.
