I've moved it to #5 myself. It and CR just make such a great double feature that I had to move it up.

    NEW LIST

    1. The Spy Who Loved Me

    3. Dr. No
    4. Thunderball
    5. GoldenEye

    6. For Your Eyes Only

    16. The World Is Not Enough
    17. The Living Daylights
    18. The Man with the Golden Gun
    19. Die Another Day
    20. Octopussy
    21. A View to a Kill
    22. Moonraker
    23. Spectre
    24. Diamonds Are Forever

So let's start from the back. I just can't stand DAF, Sean Connery is way past it and film's blunt attempt to please American audience with cheap humor and forced locations is just too much for me.
Regarding "Spectre", it probably has the single worst storyline of all Bond films, last 15-20 minutes are practically unwatchable. Let's not even start with the mess that they've created with Blofeld.

But let me talk about the biggest "mover" of this list (with no less than 14 places!), yes it's "Quantum of Solace".
Let's say at the beginning that it was first Bond film that I ever saw in cinema when it came out. As a 12 year old kid in 2008, I was waiting months and months for it's release. And when it finally came out I was vastly disappointed with it. At first it seemed like huge set back from near perfect "Casino Royale". So, for a long time QoS, dwelt at the tail of my Bond film rankings.
But then, few months ago I decided to re-watch QoS and surprisingly everything has changed. One thing that really sets this film from the rest Bonds is it's complex plot line. You rarely get lost while following Bond film, but while watching QoS I often find myself wondering "what's connection with this and that guy", "what's his interest in all of this", "how did he end up in here" etc. Maybe that was the reason why did this film remain so low on my lists and now is so high. The other thing about it's plot is boldness that it posses. When I realised that plot is actually portraying Western powers as corrupt and shrewd unlike any previous Bond film before, my fascination with QoS immediately surged. Furthermore Marc Foster did really great job with directing this one, pacing is well measured and cinematography, for the bigger part of the film, is absolutely beautiful, especially during the desert scenes.
And now for the end I have to set apart two stellar scenes, first one being "Tosca opera scene", full of suspense, elegance and grandiosity. And the other one, that I consider to be one of the best fighting scenes in 007 history - aeroplane chase. Parachute part might be far-fetched, but enjoyment is there for every second of it's length.

As I said, QoS used to be one of my least favorite Bond films but now I definitely consider it to be a worthy successor to "Casino Royale" and one of the best modern Bond films.

Great to see your new love for QOS @QQ7 !!

    That's a big leap from #21 to #7 .
I'm also a big fan of the film,i have it at #4 on my list.

The characters in it are all shrewd, nasty buggers :Greene,Beam,Haynes,Meldrano,Mr White,Yusef etc, with no scruples.
And I also love the storyline where water is finally getting the respect it deserves as the 'worlds most important natural resource' as Greene put it,over the usual one being oil.

I also think the short running time helps it along, makes it a tight, well paced thriller.

Well Dalton era has been huge influence for Craig films.
    That darker, grittier Bond.

    @Mendes4Lyfe
Dr No at #1? I already like you :)

Personally am willing to forgive barry for that position since his top 4 is exemplary!
(And as we all know, he has the excellent TLD at 24 cos he is so obsessed with Kara that he just can't bear to ever watch the film.!!)
