Finished conference business in Phoenix mid-day Thu--my weekend starts now. I don't fly home until Sunday.

First stop after the airport where I picked up my rental car: an Audubon Center just a few miles away. Wouldn't you know what they had on their shelves.

Of course I already had a copy, so I sprung for Birds of Phoenix and Maricopa County Arizona, Janet Witzeman and Troy Corman, 2017. Hummingbirds are a favorite here.

Mid-day is the worst time to start birding. I believe it got up to 111 degrees Fahrenheit today.

    I loved it.

Indeed I am my friend so no pain no gain as they say! Once this bit is done I can start organising the desired display cabinets that I want.

Went for a job interview on Monday, and was driving their work vehicle on Tuesday! That was pretty cool. Sadly, it was only a trial run, and waited anxiously until yesterday to learn I wasn't successful in getting the job. The trial run went without a hitch, but many others were being interviewed, no doubt with more experience driving a delivery truck.

So, I am spending the weekend a little bummed, but at the very least I can put that experience on my resume!

Off to see The Incredibles 2 with the wife and kids.
Loved the first one, hoping this lives up to my expectations.

For the first time in years, my son is ready to go with me to one of these animated kids films.

It's a big weekend for me as I'll be watching planes at the Royal International Air Tattoo tomorrow and Saturday, then catching Paul Simon in Hyde Park on his farewell tour on Sunday. Counting the minutes until I finish work today!

@Agent_99 Sounds great! Wouldn't mind seeing Paul Simon myself. Does he have any connection to Bond? I ask, because we know Garfunkel appears in AVTAK.
  • We know Garfunkel appears in AVTAK??!

Apparently we don’t all know that. Where is Garfunkel in AVTAK?

'We', as in me...and Garfunkel. ;) And maybe @Thunderfinger, who mentioned him here once.

You can see Art Garfunkel next to the stereo when Bond plays Tchaikovsky.

I don't think the Maud cameo was ever confirmed.

Now what about Paul Simon? Any Bond connection?

Is that your way of saying you need to trim the hedges? A bit of manscaping perhaps?

    Careful with those scissors, mate.

It looks more like a building site/ jungle than a garden! So will hopefully get it mostly straightened out.

This feels like the fan question I was born to answer, but I can't think of one! I shall mull it over!

Paul McCartney and Carly Simon both did Bond themes in the 70s.
  • And Paul McCartney and Simon Le Bon bookended Moore’s tenure.
