Back on topic... doing a little thinking about the characters rumored so far. I hope the female MI6 agent is more of an equal/contemporary to Bond a la Anya Amasova and not a protege or apprentice like CashleyPersia said. The Bond as mentor dynamic doesn't interest me that much, but it could be what they're looking for to bring something "different", especially if they are embracing an aged Bond for Craig's last entry.
The mystery woman to me is likely a Severine/Lucia Sciarra -- a middle woman that Bond has to get in contact with (or "use") to get to the bad guy.
I wouldn't be surprised if Madeleine figures into the plot similarly to Michelle Monaghan in MI Fallout. Probably moved on from Bond but coincidentally ends up in the villain's plot.
If they are indeed casting the villain right now (eyeing Rami Malek), I don't see this being a Shatterhand/YOLT adaptation. But I could be wrong. Why not just confirm Waltz as soon as they confirmed everyone else. And based on Malek being the preferred choice, they're not recasting Blofeld.
Monaghan would be terrific Bond girl. And she's worked with CJF. Sigh.
