With regards to the recent spoiler...
I am just wondering if EON would ever use another/external casting company?
The reason being these tweets from January which I thought would have been one of Lea's future non-Bond projects..... but I am not so sure now!

Rough Google translation - not sure if they mean't Lea's daughter or a young Lea?

For the filming of a feature film with Léa Seydoux, casting director is looking for the following profile:

    - a 12-year-old girl (age 10 to 14), blonde with blue eyes.

It will be to interpret Léa Seydoux child. Physical resemblance is very important. Your daughter must be athletic, with character and confidence. The child will have to know how to swim and be comfortable in the water. Important role.

It is not necessary to have experience to apply. The casting will take place in Paris in January.

Please apply by sending the following:
    - recent color photos
    - surname, first name, date of birth, size, class
    - full contact details of the parents

    Mention "Lea Seydoux child"

Well this seems to pretty much confirm it. Interesting.

Interesting, yes. And goes to my point that this could be different things than we may first think of.
Her as a child being that character, as others have mentioned in spoilers
. I'm open to a different kind of Bond story, grounded in what rings true for Craig's Bond. After all, this is the final arc to this particular Bond.

They can also use flashbacks the way they dealt with them in the PTS for Casino Royale, by peppering them over events that take place in present times.
They can use the footage with the lake and the child with the monologue from Madeleine in Spectre, while the main action happens in present days, just like the images of Bond's first kill in the bathroom is spread over the whole conversation with Dryden at the embassy.

Good find. This certainly makes it quite plausible this is a Madeleine flashback.

EDIT: Though, I suppose it could just as easily be Madeleine's child?

Not so sure how’d I feel about seeing Bond with a child. To me it’s out of character, especially for Craig’s Bond.

If this news about a little girl who presumably resembles Seydoux is true, I’d wager a guess it’s going to be a flashback. There must be something significant about what happened to her when she was little.

@DonnyDB5, it is late to say this considering past pages, but please use spoiler tags.

And sure flashbacks (and future flash forwards) can be used creatively, in many ways. If Boyle were directing this I would be a lot more concerned; just saying I still trust Cary.

Woah! Great find! Still not keen on the idea at all though.

Yeah that casting call lines up and basically confirms what that scene is
tbh I love the idea of digging deeper into Swann's background because it is very much the background of Spectre the organisation

That is a great find. We can now speculate for pages on it ... and will do so, surely. ;)

Somebody earlier used the word "melodrama" but really that can be so very bad or actually well done, with the right director, script, and actors. So we must have a bit of faith ... and why not? I have very positive vibes about Bond 25 - including being in Norway, finally! That's so great. I've wanted that for years.

I think the idea of a Madeleine flashback could be good or bad. Most of us agree she wasn't that great in SP - certainly no Tracy or Vesper - but if B25 was able to make her close to that level, I'd be all for it. I'd love to see Madeleine redone this time with better direction and script-writing.

So this could be a Madeline flashback introducing (new) villains into story from her childhood... so not necessarily a direct Blofeld/SP continuation... or did I miss some piece?
  • ToTheRight wrote: »
Exactly. I'd prefer if they can't find anything left in Fleming to start adapting the continuation novels. Honestly I'd enjoy the weakest Gardner plot over what became of SP, and the direction the Craig era has taken.

Danjaq (Eon's holding company) doesn't own the adaptation rights to the continuations. The full rights belong to the estate of Ian Fleming. The deal between Danjaq and Ian Fleming only applies to the material written by Fleming.

True enough. Danjaq and Eon would have to purchase the rights. However, my understanding, is Danjaq/Eon has right of first refusal. Essentially, there is no other buyer and it wouldn't cost that much (relatively speaking). It would be small fraction of what was spent on the SPECTRE car drive or world's biggest movie explosion.

Yes, a flashback seems more likely.

Now is anyone willing to bet Swann is a Spectre agent?

As my first language is French, I can translate some stuff.
"For a feature film, a young girl is wanted for an important part [it's not necessarily a major part, but it's a part that requires at least some acting talent]

-A 10 to 14 year old girl, blonde with blue eyes.
She's supposed to play the part of a young Léa Seydoux. Physical resemblance is very important."

The entire casting call is even more revealing:

"-A girl who looks 12 (and is between 10 and 14), blonde with blue eyes.

She's supposed to be a young Léa Seydoux. Physical resemblance is very important. Your daughter must be athletic, with some personality and confidence. The child must know how to swim and be comfortable with water. [This part is actually emphasized in the casting call]. Important part.

No previous experience necessary to apply. The casting will take place in Paris in January."

"Léa Seydoux enfant" is definitely a young Léa Seydoux. If the part was for a daughter, it would say "la fille de Léa Seydoux" instead.

And it makes sense that they would use another company. If they need a French girl who speaks French, they have to go through a French agency. If the girl had no lines, they could use their usual providers.

It’s not a flashback, it’s going to be Bond protecting a child ala Logan.

Anyone else noticing the parallel between a possible flashback scene with Swann and Blofeld to the opening scene in Inglorious Bastards? Seydoux's character's family is killed by Hans Landa (Waltz), but she manages to escape him.

I think we are overthinking this, we don't even know if that is going to happen and shooting someone is something else which didn't happen in inglorious. Mr White was alive upuntil SP.

Very likely a flashback - this fits very well into the theory I posted a few weeks back about Madeleine having been set up to meet Bond by her very own father. Now I could see why: 1) Those two intruders could be Mi6 agents (so there has been a revenge situation for both sides all along) 2) Those two intruders could have been Mi6 agents PLUS maybe just maybe, Bond's parents?!!!

That would be fascinating! I certainly hope they're doing something clever like this with the story.

If the rumor is to be believed, it's far likelier a flashback than it is Bond and Madeleine's daughter...unless there's a ridiculous time jump.

The Bond films are always set in the world of today. SPECTRE was very (on-the-nose) a film set in 2015. Even if Bond and Madeleine had a child immediately after that film, she'd barely be 5 years old in this film. So unless this film's set in -- I don't know, 2029? -- I'd highly doubt she'd be gunning down SPECTRE assassins by now.

    More speculation:
They want Bond to retire (only to surface again in another reboot with another actor). One thing that will surely motivate him is finding out he has a daughter. I mean...why not? How many women can the guy sleep with, without getting any of them pregnant?

I wonder given the incentives offered the B25 production, that the shooting at this Nittedal sequence means:
    - the location can double as another location (possibly another country), given how it looks like it could be anywhere.
    - and that we might see more than one Norwegian location being used in the film.

It's got to be Madeleine. And if she turns out to be a SPECTRE agent, we'll come full circle to the lesson of CR "You don't trust anyone, do you James?"
