In Skyfall he was drinking and using drugs. The days of morality stance in the world of Bond movie production may be over?

It also seems very likely that Bond is alone in Jamaica. I suppose Madeleine will figure into the story in another way. Did we ever consider the possibility that Madeleine is the kidnapped scientist? I know she's a therapist in SP, but perhaps she has found a new medical calling in the last 5 years......

I think someone mentioned that possibility earlier.

Yes I brought that idea up some days ago. I think it is in fact rather obvious.
She is a medical doctor from a top universities. I doubt that she will live a happy life with Bond (or him with her) after SP, so she would follow her own life and career.
Doing scientific work is not too unrealistic for her.

"scientist" is what EON would call it in a synopsis to not make it too obvious and Madeleine kidnapped is what would bring back Bond out of retirement.

And last but not least: There is no one else in the main cast to play the scientist - so: very obvious

Anybody notice that Bond’s sailing yacht in the Jamaica shots is the same one he had in Casino Royale with Vesper Lynd in Venice, but now with a coat of blue paint on the hull instead of white.

Wonder if she’s called the “Vesper”?

Not the same boat. Same brand thought.

Drugs? Were? Which? No drugs in SF. Just booze, as usual.

She's not even a medical doctor, is she? Isn't she a psychologist? A psychotherapist at most? No, I don't think she's the scientist.

Trained at Oxford and Sorbonne, become a Consultant and spent 2 years with Medicins Sans Frontieres... Whatever... but she could do scientific work. And how else would you phrase it to not tell to much in a synposis?
Obviously she is NOT with Bond, otherwise she would be in Jamaica with him but she is not from what we can tell now. So how do we think she will make it into the story?

I think someone mentioned that possibility earlier. Might remember wrong. David Dencik has been rumoured to play that role, but some newspapers reports he'll play a baddie:

"TT have even been in contact with the actor himself, who says he feels honoured to get to play a Bond villain."

    https://www.aftonbladet.se/nojesbladet/a/pL1vdj/svensken-spelar-skurk-i-nya-bond-filmen

Has anyone else considered how similar the plot sounds to The Dark Knight Rises? The opening of that film concerns a kidnapped scientist who is needed to built a bomb?

As long as they don't do a plain sequence like the one the clip above led to, I think they're safe from comparisons (one would hope).

I guess it's a step from Madeleine's background to scientific work. On the other hand, the right script could probably make that bit believable. Maybe scientific work somehow relating to psychology or psychotherapy? Nah, probably not.

David Dencik would have been the obvious guess, if not for the reports he'll play a villain. I haven't found a quote where he mentions the word "villain" himself, though.

You appear to have made your own mind up on what is exactly happening in B25 @danielcc. Why ask us to fit a story around your cobbled together narrative? After all, you've already decided that Léa Seydoux is hardly in it because she's away making another movie at the moment. Just like some have already made up their own minds that Lashana Lynch must be the main character alongside Bond, even though she hasn't been photographed once in any of the shooting currently going on in Jamaica. But she's there, right? Her Instagram posts are testament to the fact that she's enjoying herself sipping the occasional piña colada and posing in front of the mirror a helluva lot. What's to say Léa Seydoux doesn't hop on a plane sometime in the coming weeks and they shoot her scenes last due to her other commitments? She doesn't have to be in every scene, just like Diana Rigg wasn't in every scene in OHMSS. What I'm basically saying nothing's "obvious" until we're further into the production and we've got more to go on.

Not hard to believe at all, @Talos7. The fear of "PC" !!!!! oh no!!! is rampant on this forum. I think that is not such a realistic fear, just my opinion.

    An interesting tidbit:
Barrie Gower has been hired for B25. He's known for his prosthetic work on GoT and Chernobyl and the upcoming Rocketman... whose face is having a transformation of some kind?...

Rami Malek? He mentioned something about a change of appearance in a small video from what I can remember.

Interesting! If we're to speculate (we don't need the spoiler tag here, remember!), my guess would be Malik…or maybe David Dencik? I hope there's more to Dencik's character than what we might expect.

Dencik is part of the cast of Chernobyl, btw.

Well, that kind of work could be for a victim as well as a villain. Interesting.

Most likely this photo already shown on this thread, but here you go anyway.
Just came up when I searched tag #Bond25 on instagram. If anybody can name other crew on Instagram, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

None of the other major crew members seem to be regularly active on Instagram. Sandgren hasn't posted in almost five months.

Back when CR was released, DC said something to the effect of a cigarette-smoking secret agent didn't seem to make much sense. The alcohol and pills, post-recruitment, are more stress-related, perhaps better stress-relievers than the pack of smokes. That said, there's nothing wrong with the cigar, considering Bond's "retirement."

I think DC gave up cigars a few years ago. So my guess is that he has it because the scene calls for it.

He gave up cigarettes, not cigars, I think. I, for one, only smoke cigars, not cigarettes. But hey, I do hope you're right my friend, and the cigar makes an appearance in the film, as it should. Always makes me think of Moore.

@Univex , I assume he was crunching a serious opioid in SF when he pops the pills back in his mouth before an all-night bender while "dead" in Turkey... perhaps Oxi (cheap and a pain-killer)...

Or even if they were pain pills it could’ve been to treat pain from the injuries he sustained in the PTS. Not abuse but medicinal use.

I think the nature of the pills is left for interpretation. Every viewer can interpret it in their own way, one that suits their vision of the character.

Bond should be seen taking mdma and canabbis while he pulls double duty with his wife and Ana, all on film.

I don't have access to the movie at the moment but I believe it's a prescription bottle from which he gets the pills.

On YouTube I was able to find the scene where Silva is reading Bond's records and he specifically mentions "alcohol and substance addictions indicated" That's pretty clear cut.

The thing is, abuse can be temporary and not chronic.

Crazy idea but could they be planning on Blofeld changing his appearance through plastic surgery? Malek is Blofeld?

Bond smoking anything in the movie may be an issue of actual ratings censorship.

In Skyfall, the basic facts are Bond is injured and is taking medication for it. Bond choosing to smoke a cigar as a lifestyle choice is different.

It'd be weird for Craig to be smoking one between shots if he weren't actually smoking it in the movie, though. Maybe they did a take with it, and a take without.

Speaking of Instagram, what is up with Lea's Instagram? Is she in protest against something?
