True. He's done a lot of films and has had a long career. One never knows. He could be the composer to really Bond right if he were offered the gig.
Bond definitely need a bit of punch in the scores. Hollow sounds doesn't suit Bond as much as it can for other films. I was excited about Newman doing a Bond score at first, but after listening to his work with SF/SP, one can understand why he's a better match with dramas than spy thrillers.
Agree. Arnold found a sweet spot with those two scores. Hopefully we can get something like that with B25. As for the Bond theme, one would love having it played in all it's glory at least once per film, with some hints of it – along with bits of the theme song a few places. Doesn't need to be much, just a little bit here and there.
So who's your father, Monty Norman or John Barry? Or did they "cooperate"?
Indeed.
He should be rewarded excellence for salvaging the disaster that SP was evolving in to.
But my intuition tells me SM may return, just not in the DC era...
What makes you feel that way @peter? Are you thinking he could be the one to launch Bond #007?
Agreed, completely. What we need is more unique usage of the theme in the next score. I'd love to see arnold return, though I wouldn't be entirely opposed to newman, so long as he doesn't recycle again. Also as much as I love all of arnold's bond scores (those with heavy bond theme usage and those without), he shouldn't return to tnm/ twine in this regard, though he should use it more than in cr/ qos.
@Goldeneye0094 did he respond yet?
He had/has nothing more to give to the Craig era, but I can’t believe that Babs sees no value in him— he was a warrior for her.
I could definitely see her bringing him back for the intro of Bond 007.
@Ottofuse8, I agree. Much as I'd rather Arnold not return, if he was to, I'd prefer if he tried to compose more interesting melodies in order to incorporate the Bond theme into. I have never been satisfied with his attempts in this respect, although he tried to do it during the Brosnan years.

"Then he strikes - like WonderWaaaaaaaaall "
Or there will go for Yann Demange or Steven Soderbergh as directer of Bond 25 / 26, possible Thomas Newman wil stay as David Holmes wil be a producer of the title song and he and the directers think Newman is better composer of the two.
The goodnews be if David Holmes work on the title song, this time it can be part of music much more then with Skyfall and Spectre. Second Biggest failer of Thomas Newman.
Biggest problem i see is his first failer because he presser of making new music, inspecialy if David Holmes, producers and directer have disagree. Yann as directer and let David Holmes let doing his thing be better option, whyle Soderbergh have made more movies.
What Bond 25 need is David Arnold with Soderbergh and David Holmes mix. So focus can be on the script and trust him enough show some respect for Newman work. Or Newman stay, with Soderbergh and no David Holmes.
Are you available for the next movie?
It seems Noel and Paul Weller already have half a song written and scored, should be interesting, both are keen to do a Bond theme.
Great post. Agree entirely.
How would you shift the tone from here/what kind of tone would you like them to shift too?
@Dennison I would personally like to see something of the tone of Thunderball or Goldeneye. Not full blown 'epic' in the vein of YOLT or TSWLM. As much as I love those two it would be too jarring!

"The thing I will say is that making movies is a laboratory. It’s an artistic process. You cannot plan things. Jóhann Jóhannsson is one of my favorite composers alive today. He’s a very strong artist,” Villeneuve told Al Arabiya English. “But the movie needed something different, and I needed to go back to something closer to Vangelis. Jóhan and I decided that I will need to go in another direction"
But if it is Villeneuve who is confirmed Directing I would put my money on him to return to Jóhann Jóhannsson for Score.
Interesting interview with Martin Campbell asking if he would return to direct another Bond film. I didn't realise he was offered the chance to return multiple times during the Brosnan era.
My feelings are the same. There are a wealth of reasons as to why Spectre disappointed me but one of them was that it was the perfect opportunity to go a little more over the top, a little lighter and they didn't take it. There were touches - the couch landing, the old Italian driver, the crater base and Goldfinger's car coming to pick them up. But they had to weigh it down with foster brothers and Madeleine Swann saying 'I love you' and decisions between love and duty - it felt like a film trying to break free into epic frivolity - but being restrained by attempts to plumb emotional depths. I actually liked Craig's performance and felt that he was aiming for Connery cool and if the narrative had let him he could have got there. The end of SF is perfectly set up to lead into any direction toward DN or TB or OP - yet they went for more of the same.
I know that B25 will be more of the same too. So my expectations are more tempered than after SF's exhilarating ending. I'll enjoy the hell out of B25 and I'm grateful that Craig is back for one more - but I'm really curious to see where they go from B26 onwards.
