As for Bond 25, as long as we get some director and distributor info by the end of the year, I'll be happy. We're two years out and know the script is being worked on. No rush. I hope DV gets it as I'm a huge fan but if not now, then I would be more than ok with him launching a new actor for Bond 26 (him or Nolan)
My ideal example of Bond taking itself seriously (not that it has to, but since the Craig era demands so) is Casino Royale. Campbell for me is the ideal Bond director 'cause he knows how to balance character, plot and filmic energy- the latter of which I felt was missing from both SF ans SP. Since we 've got a specific name list to speculate on, I feel Demange has got what it takes to bring back the nerve and energy needed, plus a more naturalistic visual style that would be very welcome by me.
Now I wouldn't mind at all if Demange got it because '71 is great and I agree he would bring a new kind of energy. I would worry a little about his ability to bring a whole movie of Bond scope, but there's enough team experience to support I imagine. Either way, I don't think anyone should be upset, they're both very good and DV is on his way to greatness, if not already there. You never know, he may believe CR is Craig's best, FRWL may be his favorite, and he's very good at replicating and invigorating old style, so a big, colorful suspenseful movie may be what he delivers. I sincerely doubt he would make SF 2. He's too good to just continue in Mendes vein and would want to bring his own take, otherwise what would be his point in doing it.
Yes I mentioned Martin Robinsongate earlier.
Dear DoctorNo I think "prisoners" is one of the best thrillers ever, but "sicario" as goog as it is, it's a drama not an action film. Its two promising scenes (border and tunnel) build up tension masterfully but are underwhelming in action delivery. If DV gets the job I ll be happy but sceptical until I see the film, that's all.
Journalists are an utter joke these days, they probably copy and pasted it from another site not even bothering to check it for the errors.
The article starts out calling him by his correct name then all of a sudden Robinson gets said and you think... well.
I would prefer him to the boring Rory Kinnear Tanner for sure,Q....
Exactly..when you see how animated and confident he is as an actor in other productions its a total waste the way they use him as Tanner.
I have not seen 71 but I understand your point about Villeneuve. As I've said previously, I think he's quite versatile (based on what I've seen), and so if he gets the job will be able to steer the ship in any number of directions depending on what the producer/co-producer want. I think your concerns are valid, but perhaps misplaced. Any concerns should probably be directed at the top.
Fair point on V's versatility. let's hope the way he 'adjusted' to the world of Blade Runner makes sure he will do the same with the world of Bond if he's the one to do it.
I thought EON and MGM hired Wizard of Ice to write and direct and star in a tanner spin off film to get the Saw horror fan community dollars.

To sum things up, there has been location scouting in western Norway, but it's unlikely to happen due to an incentive application deadline.
:D I love bad puns.
