There is a good to fair chance that Boyle’s film involves a lost child of bonds

I haven’t really noticed or though about this before but how many times has bond been shot. He’s shot in the leg in thunderball and twice in skyfall but are there in any other instances in the franchise?

Casino Royale - James is human and goes for a "slash."

"So as charming as you are, Mr. Bond, I will be keeping my eye on our government's money - and off your perfectly-formed arse."

How otherwise would Vesper have seen Bond's arse (based on the filmed scene.)

Gaaaaaaaa...I'm trying to be relaxed and complacent regarding misspellings, but Vesper has nothing to do with the Italian motor scooter, please.

Sorry - as Bond fans we are all together - all races, religions, shapes, sizes, sex, rich, poor, able bodied, not so able bodied, some good at spelling, some not so good at spelling - so lets not get that personal if a person makes a mistake on a post, or get too frustrated at a comment. It might just stop someone joining us or posting something that might be extraordinary.

Agreed. I notice misspellings and things as that's part of my profession, but I hope that doesn't prevent you or someone else from contributing to something as casual as a forum where the idea is to have fun in a community of people with similar interests.

What annoys me more is someone who posts something is awful or great without elaborating, just "this sucks" or something along those lines.

It's not about forgiving because a mistake is not a crime. I would not mention a regular grammatical error or typo from anyone here (yes, it happens to me as well), native English speaker or not, and I don't think my original post is or was anywhere near being "personal", let alone "that personal". It's just that I think as a sort of specialist fan board, we should know how to spell the central characters' names. Just like I get a bit of allergic when the occasional "Ian Flemming" pops up.

Should anyone find me having a misconception of a character's name, I'd welcome being enlightened. I just don't see why anyone should take it personally.

You should see the early Danish editions, where they felt they had to danify his name for some reason

I've seen things as well such as fans calling the title "The Man with a Golden Gun" and Pierce Bronson and such on fan boards and face-palmed, but don't feel like it's worth calling out, though.

I understand correcting "Vespa", because, and I'm speaking as an American, I've heard podcasts where Americans who never read the book, and hearing the British accent, literally think her name is "Vespa".

Lets cut out the crap re all this grammar rubbish ok ?

I can only speak and type one language so i have total respect and admiration for members on here who are multi-lingual.

Picking up their mistakes for grammar in English ( a foreign language to them) is hypocritical considering most Brits/Yanks/Ozzies/Kiwis can only speak one language dont you think ?

@Torgeirtrap is a fantastic member and a friend of mine on here (and a Gooner), and if i could type even a millionth of his clear concise posts on here in his language, then maybe i can have a millionth of a say on his grammar.

But i dont...so a bit of respect is in order,or some members, not Torg, could be put off from posting ,when in fact they are the clever ones for being so near perfect in English.

Not contradicting you...but where do you find Torgeirtrap in this particular situation? And I don't even know where Fountainbridge1 comes from. Nor do I care. But let's agree that Vesper/Vespa is not a grammatical/orthographical issue, but a factual one. Says a non-native speaker of English.

Well, thank you @barryt007! That's a really nice compliment :-)
Had to go back and read the whole discussion. Can't comment on Vespa, but misspelling Fleming Flemming might just be the case of holding down the "M" button too long, without noticing the mistake - couldn't it?

Given the number of English words the Danes use, this is a bit surprising. Nice cover, though!

I wonder if that was a little Easter egg for MR fans?

I tend to assume that the "Vespa" thing is not a typo, but rather a result of the fact the fact British English speakers hit their Rs significantly less hard than do Americans, who speak perhaps a majority of the English heard around the world. There are without a doubt an awful lot of people around the world who think Ms Lynd's first name is "Vespa", and without subtitles, knowledge of the novel, or checking the credits, that's a reasonable mistake.

    Just noticed tonight:

When Bond is brought to Sanchez in LTK, Sanchez asks him to wait a moment, and Bond instead shows some dominance and walks over to his window...this bears a lot if similarity to George Lazenby talking about his first meeting with either Cubby or Harry. He was asked to sit while a phone call was finished, but George decided to demand respect.

    Maybe coincidence, but still interesting.
