And? The story of Casino Royale is basically about Bond playing cards.
Exactly. You can sum up the synopsis of literally any film this way.
There's a 3 hour movie about a guy named Lawrence wandering around the desert.
No, the story is about Bond being fucked over by the only woman he truly loved.
As for Bond playing cards, it is more entertaining than him playing solitaire. Not talking about LALD here.
Likewise you could easily say Skyfall is about Bond finally confronting his own personal demons.
Ah, Stalker. That's a proper movie. One of my favourites.
And that's the key. It's all a subjective thing, a matter of taste.
Personally, I enjoyed SF (for the same reason I love TB) in part because it is a little slower-paced...it's like sipping a fine wine. No need to down it. Just sit back and savor it. But that's me.
The whole glass?
If QoS had a better ending than the whole hotel sequence and fixed the part where Green is introduced... the dock scene is basically explaining the whole movie through two conversations instead of showing us these bits being discovered by Bond as the story develops... I think it could be a great movie. Even with hyper editing and the unnecessary dual revenge plots and Fields.
Good lord, it's not tequila...but then, tequila fits nicely with QoS.
Skyfall, I came away quite underwhelmed, and that opinion hasn't changed, after seeing it many times.
I reach.
While Sexism was a part of Bond in the past, they certainly set the "new" Bond up differently in CR and QOS.
The sexism in Skyfall is glaring and one of the many things why this era is so uneven.
It almost feels like a totally different character in SF compared to CR or QOS.
Skyfall has super slick production values. The pacing is pleasant, James Bond and the characters are somewhat complex, but never convoluted, and I love the bits of humor sprinkled through out the story. The cinematography is wonderful. It has one of the most intriguing finales in the series. Also, the main theme tune by Adele is resoundingly spectacular!
It's not really a reason for me disliking SF, but the women are all depicted as pretty useless. M is depicted as an incompetent, arrogant old woman. Moneypenny is an incompetent, young woman. And Severine is a former child prostitute who is used as a shooting target.
What I actually dislike is how everyone at MI6 is really bad at their job - M, Q, Moneypenny, even Bond. It just doesn't sit well with me. It suggests an organisation that is amateurish and stupid. That's fine in John Le Carre but this is Bond.
I've argued about the entirety of MI6's incompetence in SF quite a few times. Always bothers me.
