A nine-year-old could write more rounded characters than those found in the prequels. TFA wasn't a vast step up for me, certainly better, but not a patch on the originals.
It wasn't Han or Kylo.... it was Harrison Ford! (que dramatic music)
Be it as it may, it is the worst plot twist ever and possibly the highest crime ever committed in Hollywood.
For me it has killed of the franchise (live action).
I still will enjoy the first 6 movies.
And I absolutely loved Star Wars The Clone Wars and I can't get enough of Star Wars Rebels.
My friend actually mentioned that to me two days ago: you don't see who activates the lightsaber, which is a good point. Hadn't thought about that.
What fracking sense would it make if Han Solo activated it himself? Did he want Kylo to finally completely turn to the dark side?
Well, I thank JJ for Star Trek (which I love) but he failed miserably with Star Wars imho.

Apologies, just can't help myself ;)
:)) that's ok.
so I gather you don't like the animated shows of Star Wars :)
For kids.
I just don't get what the problem is with Han's death. I love Han's character, and his arc, and felt it was a strong moment. Had the prequels come first, it would have been the same with Obi-Wan Kenobi. An important mentor dies in every first movie in the trilogy, Han was not only the logical but the perfect choice because audiences were invested in him.
so is TFA, for kids, but not good.
For the same reason as before, the whole thread is all spoiler tags! :))
Let loose with the spoilers here!!
Your insight serves you well, my friend.
Now..... how the hell did Maz get Luke’s saber?
From the same place Kylo got Granddad s helmet?
- Snoke is stronger and 1000 times better than Kylo and Rey together
- Rey seeing a man torso and her words are ridiculous
- Mary Popppins is not a SW character
- Phasma is a gag from Monty Python, isn't she?
- Absolutely nothing new in Williams' work
- Don't laugh of Jedi books
- Yoda's ghost is stronger than a human?
- Chewie, C3PO and R2D2... If you don't know what to do with them, do nothing
- Superman in a SW film?... Oh, wait, it's Carrie Fisher's last film, let's do something new, brave and never seen... She can fly! Bad idea ever.
It’s just that the end of The Force Awakens filled me with such hope; I thought we’d see Luke come back, join Leia, and have some sort of happy ending. In reality, he never left that damn planet.
Now that I know this is how Luke’s story ends, and I’ve come to accept it, I’d like to see the movie again.
The Last Jedi might just improve with multiple viewings- a sign of a good movie is when you notice something new every time, and there’s obvious great direction here.
I guess I wanted the fairytale ending, but got harsh realism (for Luke) and I’m starting to appreciate it. Does that make any sense? :-(
Liked a lot.
Didn't like a lot. At all.
Biggest gripes, Flying Leia in space, killing Ackbar and being told secondhand, way too much humour. Most of it works, but I felt too much. General Hux is becoming a buffoon character. I like the power struggle between him and Kylo. But he's getting too jokey. Thrown around via the force.
The animals Finn and Rose ride evoked memories of the prequel trilogy. Too much CGI, and a scene that just isn't needed.
I did like the space battles, the connection and characters Rey and Kylo. I loved Mark Hamill and can forgive them killing off Luke. I even liked the Finn and Rose sub story. Poe is a good supporting character, and the fight in Snokes chambers with Kylo and Rey and the guards was pretty good.
On first viewing I preferred TFA. At present I'd put this as a middle of the road entry.

I hope they give Finn something important to do next time
I think even Poe was misused here (and I really like Isaac in the role). The opening scene with Hux was great though.
I'd say only Rey and Kylo were really compelling in this one.
Good thing, because they may have to carry Episode IX on their own.
Not the way I thought it would go...
I feel the whole "find the hacker" plotline was there just to give Finn something to do.
That part of the movie also felt very prequel-ish...
When Finn was going to sacrifice himself, two thoughts crossed my mind; they're really just going to kill a new character introduced just one movie before. But then I thought that he at least get a meaningful death, having been on the run from the first order ever since TFA and now gets to save the day and help the resistance against the first order. I was kinda bummed out that Rose stole that moment from him. But afterwards was glad they saved him for episode 9 and that Luke got that meaningful death.
Let me begin by saying I am not a massive star wars fan in so far as I wont dress up as kylo ren to the theater. I do however like to watch the movies and have done so at least 4-5 times for each one, if not more for some of the better installments. I saw the force awakens 2 years ago and hated it because it was a rehash and just over all boring with garbage action, then I saw RO a year ago, and came out of the theater stunned thinking that it was perhaps the best star wars film ever. Now this year I was really looking forward to TLJ. I had faith that they would not do a rehash again and that they would steer the saga in a new direction with hopefully a couple twists along the way, and to their credit they did half of that. I came out of this film appalled at how bad it was, I almost wanted to laugh at all the star wars fans clapping at the end credits because what I had just seen was egregiously terrible. Lets go in order shall we, The crawl is fine, nothing really spectacular but I guess not much really happens in between the last film and this one, then we are trusted into this space battle with Po and the empire which is really stupid because they are like 4 massive imperial ships and one tiny rebel ship is able to show them dust. Anyway that was okay but it went on for too long. Then there was that long sort of action thing that kept going on for the whole film with the rebel ships trying to flee the empire but they're running out of gas and the empire cant simply shoot them becuase?? Anyway that whole story arc is boring and shit. Also it has flying carrie fisher which is nonsense. Then we have Rey and Luke and their time on the island. Now, two things happen on this island which I genuinely enjoy, the thing about Luke attempting to Kill ben, which is awesome, and force ghost yoda(they should have got force ghost Kenobi/Guinness too). On the flip side the whole force communication between Rey and Ben is bullshit, and nothing interesting happens on this island, Lukes a bit shit and does nothing. Then we have a terrible sequence on some casino planet, Im not even going to bother with this one, it should be clear why I hate it. Then there is an awesome sequence with Rey, Ben, and Snoke, everything about that is awesome except for the part when Snoke gets killed. What a bloody cock tease that character is. The whole rest of the final act is shit on that dumb salt planet and the whole Luke is using the force to teleport there but hes not really there, thats all nonsense. Then Luke dies, what an unfulfilling use of that character. terrible. Then we end the film still at square one, the only difference is that Luke is dead for no reason so thanks Ryan Johnson. This film took no risks, it felt like a tv show phoning it in for one episode in a much larger season. There was nothing remarkable there was no big reveal like ESB. On the contrary I found it silly and unremarkable. I cant even recommend anyone to see this.... ever, even if its on tv I mean why?, Its a waste of time.
2/10
My new ranking

3.ANH
4.ESB
5.ROS
6.AOC
7.TFA
8.TLJ
9.PM
Next time I do a marathon, the only way I could see this list changing would be the phantom menace going 2 higher, and ROJ being the new low. At least that one had a cool Darth Maul fight at the end.
I cant even be one of those people who say"Oh disney should stop making star wars films" because I loved RO.
