"We do function in your absence, Commander."

...and so does the editor of this movie. The back and forth between M's, Sir Donald's and Bond's meeting and the scenes in the diamond mines, the desert with Wint and Kidd and then Mrs. Whister is really cleverly made!

"The children will be so thrilled" ha ha ha.....

and now the best part of the film, hell the series, hell like forever!

"make yourself at home, I'll be out in a minute"....

uh..huh..I want to be in....and I'm up to the task!

WOW that lift fight, pardon "elevator" fight really is as great as I remembered.

The choreography and the editing of the scene are out of this world and Connery did everything by himself. The confined space is really working well and I wonder if this indeed could be the best fight scene of the whole Bond series.

    Mr. Kidd to Mr. Wint:
"I must say, Miss Case seems quite attractive."

    full.jpg

    ... "For a lady."

I think Mr. Wint is potentially my favorite character of the Bond films outside the usual recurring characters. Bruce Glover, never heard of him before, but boy is he brilliant!

I love DAF as well. I have fond memories watching my taped off of ABC version when I was a kid. I love the Barry score, Tiffany, Bambi and Thumper, I'm a huge fan of Charles Gray's Blofeld as well.
Sean is having a blast in this one as well. I don't buy for a minute he's in the least bit bored, phoning it in or doing just for the paycheck.
As far as his appearance, having distanced himself from the role in four years, and leaving the Bond image behind, to be cast at the last minute, I don't believe he had much time to get himself back into his normal Bond shape before the cameras started to roll.
Still, I think he's great in this one.

I really enjoy DAF myself. Would've loved a Lazenby revenge film but it's just so damn enjoyable to me.

"You know something, Andi? You're a terrific guy! A little weird, but a terrific guy! Why don't we go someplace and have a drink?"

    YESSS PLEEAZE :D

    "I haven't seen you here before. - I'm Klaus Hergersheimer. - G Section. - Checking radiation shields."

Connery shines, totally. His interaction with Hergesheimer and Dr. Metz is beyond funny.
Had to watch the whole sequence twice! Bloody brilliant.

Dr. Metz: "Will you please leave, you irritating man?"
Bond: "Doctor, there's no reason to run down the little people."

I thought he was quite liked on this forum.

I actually like Charles Gray's Blofeld a lot, but I try to separate him from the other Blofelds because he's too different. I love his accent, facial expressions and snobbishness though.

    "It's gone berserk!"

Connery hiding behind a moon rock. And the silly astronauts are so into their roles they actually forget they don't have to move in slow-mo anymore ha ha ha ha......

A moon buggy chase, whoever came up with that idea should be rewarded "employee of the month" :D

And he has such great chemistry with Sean Connery.

Quite enjoying this viewing of TMWTGG. It's certainly a more subdued Roger Bond but its still a good deal of fun. Q and his assistant making Bond look thick as they align on the bullet being from Lazar is brilliant.

Would like to get a champagne bucket like the one Bond has when infiltrating Anders hotel room.

Rog has some of the most fantastic inflections in his delivery of lines. "A water pistol?"

Love that they shot footage of the wrecked RMS Queen Elizabeth and made a set inspired by the wreck. It would be dismantled over the course of the next 1-2 years so this serves as a real snapshot in time that is a very unique setting indeed.

Lieutenant Hip claims he searched Gibson's body for the solex agitator after he is shot by Scaramanga but it certainly doesn't seem so. After Nick Nack examines the body, Hip simply tells him to go away and then drives off with Bond. Hmm.

Hai Fat saying "Scaramanga" is great, it's how I try to say it anymore when discussing Bond with friends.

Ah I do dislike how they spoof sumo with Bond grabbing the cheeks of the one guy. Why would they spoof a sport they portrayed so beautifully in YOLT only 7 years previous?

I showed up at my Dad's house yesterday for the holidays, and he and my brother (younger, half-brother, he's 40) were watching TMWTGG on television. I threw out a few lines of dialogue in tandem with the movie, and they laughed, but in there was also that undercurrent of uncomfortableness with my intimate knowledge of the film.

Sadly, they got bored and turned it off before the halfway point. I was hoping it would hold their interest.

:( Always difficult to watch Bond with a non or casual Bond fan. I've got a two close friends and a brother in law who are pretty big bond fans. I've got that and the occasional viewing with my wife who does a great job of placating my obsession while staying seemingly interested herself. The rest of my viewings are usually solo

    - See that jump Bond's car just did? That stunt was initially planned by computer!
    - I know, I know. By the Cornell Aeronautical Laboratory.
    - Ugh, you're such dull company.

I watch them periodically with my girlfriend, she likes them pretty well. I have a friend and a cousin who would seem fairly serious Bond fans to the outside world, but they don't have anywhere near the passion or knowledge to exist on these boards.

Luckily, a few MI6 members live in my area, and I have had the opportunity to watch some Bond films with several of them. It was cool for the first time to watch a Bond movie with someone who knows as much crap as I do about this stuff.

Future community viewing parties on this thread will help as well!

Getting a little sleepy. Going to take an intermission for a small slumber after the bed scene with goodnight and Anders. Goodnight sir.

The Man With The Golden Gun is a favorite of mine, like DAF.
They sit next to each other in my Top 10 on 8 and 9.

I've already seen TMWTGG (sadly) in my Bond-a-thon, Bond-athon, Bondathon (or however that is spelled...)...

...anyway, "do I look, like I give a damn" and put it into the player again today.

After I finished DAF, because last night, which was almost early morning really! I decided to turn it off.
Because "something's come up" and "I got off eventually". After all I found love recently. And like Bond I don't let any opportunity go unused ;)

That's the problem with MWTGG. It's a film that runs out of steam from the midway point bar one or two good scenes. I can understand why your relatives lost interest.

The score when Bond is flying the plane to Scaramanga's island is phenomenal. The cinematography is beautiful as well, pursuing the plane and speaking of the plane, so crazy how it hits tree branches at one point and gets so close to other trees and cliffsides.
