PTS would probably rank somewhere in the middle of the series for me. The title credits and song are exquisite though.

I’d say it would probably be in the 12-15 range for me. OHMSS is also one of the few Bond films that basically just gets better with every scene for me.

This is the series’ best soundtrack. I love Try.

I don’t care how controversial it is - Lazenby is my third favorite James Bond after Connery and Craig.

    There’ll never be another Tracy.

People say this would be better with Connery. I have my doubts. I certainly wouldn’t risk changing this film at all - it’s about as perfect as a Bond movie can be.

OHMSS is the only Bond film that used Blofeld particularly well as the central antagonist. That’s a huge plus.

Not a big fan of Gray’s Blofeld myself I’m afraid.

I love the random black cat in the montage scene. A subtle counter to Blofeld’s white cat?

The suspenseful scene in Gumbold’s office. Great stuff. This film is practically tied with CR as my favorite Bond film.

It can be hard to choose. I feel like they each have certain advantages over one another, but I’ve always given a slight edge to CR because Craig’s performance in it is so great.

Irma Bunt - one of the great Bond villains. Often overlooked.

A shame I didn’t appreciate this greatness when I was younger.

Sad I only have five more to go after this. At least they’re all good to great! I rewatch these more than any other movies.

While both OHMSS and CR curently reside in my top 10, only OHMSS is in my top 5. CR was there for quite a while, but has declined recently, being replaced by DN & OHMSS.

I think OHMSS benefits greatly from being a standalone 'one-off' without any direct connectivity to other films in the series. Sadly, CR has declined a little for me precisely because of the connectivity which they have incorporated. Still a great film though.

That aspect doesn’t bother me because it can still be viewed as standalone, whereas that’s a lot harder to do with QOS and SP. SF also can work as a standalone. They’re not much less standalone than OHMSS, which makes a few references to Connery’s first five.

I'm afraid the retro garbage from SP has made it more difficult for me to see CR as a standalone. I was still able to for a year after SP's release, but since I've viewed the last film a number of times recently the connection between all 4 films in the Craig era is now difficult for me to ignore. I'm afraid they've sold me on the fact that everything is connected. Way to go EON.

It's true that they tried to connect OHMSS to Connery's first five, but it's still quite tenuous because the tone and approach is so different (to either YOLT or DAF which followed) and because the actor is different. To a degree, it always feels like a soft reboot when I view it. Like GE or TLD in a way.

All 3 feel pretty standalone to me. They each have slight connections to surrounding films, but no one needs to see other films to properly enjoy them. With QOS and SP, you’d be lost half the time. Especially SP. They need to go back to the standalone route. Also keeps the franchise fresh.

Telly Savalas Blofeld is the perfect Bond villain. I really wish we had gotten another Blofeld or two that great.

    Agreed.

He's good but I still believe Blofeld has been poorly realized on screen (apart from the unseen one). He's not my favourite villain of the franchise, despite being Bond's arch nemesis.

Now the ski chase. One of my favorite scenes of the franchise. Every part from here onwards is just amazing.

I always forget Bond uses the “Bond, James Bond,” line to Draco over the phone!

Definitely, and it wouldn t have worked with any of the other Blofelds.

For Your Eyes Only, part one:

    - What terrific gunbarrel music! I love how the trumpet melody goes up an octave when played again.

    - I enjoy that pause in the PTS when the helicopter enters the building. Everything goes quiet, then boom! Cut to the helicopter inside. There is no particular reason for that, but it's stylish and adds to the scene.

    - It's interesting to look at all the little details put in by the set designers. Look at the diagram on a wall of the ATAC room aboard the St. Georges, to the left of the ATAC control board. There is a list of names there: Victor, Alto, Bannet, Merlin, Echo, Meridan, Lance, etc. Next to the list are a series of different geometric figures occuping spaces in a coordinate grid, representing submarines and other water vehicles, I imagine. Is this how the information is/was displayed in real life? I don't know, but it adds to the ambience and fleshes out the world of the film, and I enjoy the thought that people had to sit down and discuss these types of things while designing the set.

    - There is some nice foreshadowing with Hector Gonzales. How he looks at Melina when they're in the plane; how the film cuts back to him preparing to take off once she's left the plane. You get the feeling the character is going to be more significant than he appears to be at the beginning.

    - Melina looking at the camera. Very dramatic and theatrical, in a good way.

    - The plot of the film is established in a very straightforward, effective way, I must say.

    - Green suede jacket with white shirt and brown pants. Stylish but casual attire for Bond.

    - I like how the woman along the pool is walking to the beat of Make It Last All Night.

    - "Muchasz graciasz". Roger Moore's Spanish accent is pretty good.

To be continued when I continue watching the film.

For Your Eyes Only is my most watched Bond blu ray. For some reason it's a film that I can constantly revisit numerous times and never get fed up or bored with. I'm not sure why because I don't even rank it all that high. Perhaps I like it more than I realize. Or it could just be because it looks so darn great remastered. I'm a sucker for real life location photography and stuntwork, and they do both very well in this film.

I really like all of these bits too.

Glen's films don't do much for me photography wise, but FYEO most definitely gets a pass. The locations definitely help. Greece is beautiful.

It does look nice, and for me it is the best of the Glen run (maybe LTK can give it a little competition), but there are certain shots in OP that blow me away; the colors (or colours, for you people)!

    He means colurs.

    SKYFALL.
My least favourite Craig film. Thought I give it another try.
Wasn't crazy about that change to the MGM logo. No gunbarrel and that opening music cue still grates.

"They'll be too bloody late!" Love Craig's delivery of that line.
