I love the 007 theme in this climactic scene. It's on friggin' steroids.

That was fantastic. Definitely one of the best Bond films. I’ll have to do a new ranking moving this one up.

Bond dealing with everybody on the boat at the same time, moving from here to there, beating and kicking one and throwing the other off the boat.

Lots of slapping in this film, accompanied by snazzy sound effects.

Connery only kills the main villain in 2 out of 7 films. Craig is 1 for 5, and George never did. Tim is 3/4 the way to a clean sweep, Roger is 6 and 1, and Brosnan goes out with a perfect record.
Good catch. Brosnan had the most kills period, I think.

    Thanks everyone for the great viewings tonight! @FoxRox @ToTheRight @Creasy47 @Birdleson @bondjames @mattjoes @Fire_and_Ice_Returns - deepest apologies if I missed anyone.

8 Viewers in total, I believe 4 were able to stay for the duration of both films - a very solid viewing. Have a great rest of the weekend everyone.

Perhaps we can schedule again for next weekend!

I probably won’t be able to watch any next weekend myself. But I had a lot of fun watching these films with you all!

It was a very entertaining couple of hours for me. Nothing like watching a film with an audience, and especially an audience of like-minded people.

Eight of us in total, with four making it through both films, is good numbers indeed. Like I mentioned yesterday, I had the suggestion of a OHMSS/TWINE double bill, since it's as fitting as a "Christmas Bond double bill" will be I suppose, but I know most of you did OHMSS only a few weeks back so I understand if you wouldn't want to barrel through it again. We can figure something out this week, along with when everyone is free and interested.

I feel strange seeing the title is different now.

Watching A View To a Kill

This opening is always fun. Little corny, but fun.

The Paris scenes always remind me of something about View; a lot of it is forgettable. The detective is overly hammy.

Thankfully the stable scenes really make up for it. Solid section of the story, and the brief scene when Bond takes off into the forest on the horse, and Barry kicks up the score...reminiscent of that beautiful murder scene from Moonraker.

Now we’re back in San Francisco for more scenes I always forget.

Honestly, I don’t know if Anya would have been any better in this movie. Whoever plays Pola is at least enthusiastic. Ditzy, but enthusiastic.

Man, nothing says Bond like a Ford LTD rental car. Stacy’s Cherokee was at least relatively new.

It’s fortunate the bannister in the Sutton house was precut into sections to allow easy breakaway. Really meeting building codes. Also fortunate that Grandad’s ashes had evaporated over the years.

Maybe Tanya Roberts isn’t so bad.

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a shorter nightgown.

Nice touch having the theme play in the Bronco as CIA Man #4 is killed. Obviously Barry built on that in TLD.

Good thing Zorin knew where to find Bond.

Poor Roger. Half the movie he looks fine, and the other half it’s as though he aged 20 years in filming. The scene in Howe’s office is one of the latter.

I feel like the elevator that drops to the bottom of the shaft after 30 seconds of fire probably doesn’t meet codes.

Oh dear. The first JAMES . Yes, Tanya really is that bad. Honestly, the idea of her being a geologist is more laughable than Denise Richards being a nuclear physicist.

This car chase reminds me of Diamonds. That’s not a good thing.

“I got em. Oh jeez I got em.” Not sure if he’s talking about donuts, herpes, or Bond here.

mumbles something about not needing a hard hat inside a truck

Scarpine is honestly one of the better henchmen in the franchise. Not fanatical, just does his job. Competent too.

Aqua-Net really is amazing. Mayday’s hair is still perfectly set even after nearly being drowned.

The explosives pit...I get that the fire was probably for ambience, but...not sure I’d have that next to my explosives.

Ah, the blimp scenes. Up to this point Barry has been good, but from here to the end he cranks things to eleven. Especially when we get the wide angle shot of the bridge again.

I do have to say, Dalton hanging from the mooring rope would have been more believable.

Scarpine’s look of “really?” when Zorin tells him to go out on the bridge to kill Bond is perfect.

mutters something about how Bond should have taken Stacey to a rooftop dinner, not shagged her in the shower.

At least Duran Duran helps take your mind off that last scene.
