SKYFALL might get 5 stars but i feel very upset now and its made me sad and angry.

    Heres why
No gun barrel at the start is crazy. So they havent listened to all the fans. I will be sure telling them all this aswell. Im a true bond fan and im sad to say the least. I was extreamly excited for skyfall, but even just a tiny gun barrel has made me not looking forward to it much. Sorry, but i have been worried about this for four years and they have made my worst nightmare. Rrrrrrrrr. I must be a realy big fan to nearly cry over the gun barrel not opening. So the twitter user is saying. Still not convinced.

Only one person has twitted about this. It might not be true. Get yourself over to the SKYFALL clip thread and watch a brilliant 51sec clip. Full of tense drama...that might cheer you up!

thanks but i cannot watch any official clips. ive seen a bit too much. I dont want to know whats coming.

What i would like to know is, why have they not listened to fans, when nearly every bond fan wanted it back at the begining. I hope i find an answer one day.
  • I can understand you frustration over the gunbarrel - you even have one as your picture.
We don't know for definate where it is....I am sure in the next few days we will have a much clearer idea of where it is in the film.

Yes I admit it would have been nice to have the GB at the start and I've been a Bond fan for 35 years but getting so upset about it when the reviews are the level we are getting we should be rejoicing, at the least Skyfall is going to one solid entry at the best we may well have the best Bond film ever, I say we might before I get flamed.

  • Am I the only one who doesn't give a **** about the gunbarrel?

Same here. I feel in some cases it would even DETRACT from the opening.

Are they embarrassed to have the GB at the front now or what?

What next? Lets do away with the TS??? Bloody Hell.

I know. If the gun barrel wasnt going to open, i would have still been happy with it near the begining, like in casino royale. At the end thought is a total joke. Realy takes the icing of the cake.

@Gareth_00789 It's just like the traditional ones. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. It's amazing. Best Bond film in my opinion.

This is interesting if its true. I wonder what the reason is. What matters in the long term is that we have a great film. I did mention in a previous post how important I thought the placement of the gunbarrel was. I mean its a James Bond film...its like Indiana Jones without the Paramount sign turning into a mountain or the Star Wars films without the scroll. Its part of the franchises DNA. I remember being a bit surprised when it wasn't at the beginning of QOS...There has to be a reason for this during the DC era. Maybe it makes sense with the end of the film and it will be back at the beginning for Bond 24...!

  • In that imdb review last month I'm sure it said the gun barrel was back at the beginning, so it must of got changed after the preview screening. God know why they done that?

interesting but it not in the beginning.....
  • Many reviewers are saying its the best bond film ever. So thats a good thing. But do you think no opening gun barrel takes the icing of the cake. Does for me.

I know its not, just checking if it was traditional. I will certainly be asking questions if i can to EON or someone. To me, they havent listened to bond fans.

That's what we were saying 2 movies ago. Then QoS sort of rationalised why it was at the end and now this? Bond 24 will have the gb at the end too and that's IF we're lucky to get it all.

I was expecting the gun barrel like casino , mid opening, if not at the start. Wow, i realy didnt see that coming at all. Im confused, sad, angry, all at the same time. how will i sleep now. its 12.00 at night. lol

BOND WILL A CAPITAL B... Well not for me. The gun barrel had to open for that, sorry.

Dont fix something if it aint broken, the words from michal wilson. They have just tried to fix something by moving an iconic opening.

I also wonder.........how much more are they going to shake up certain elements like the gunbarrel sequence. Sometimes it's like every individual production team member wants too fiercefully put a stamp on his own work. And then it's up to the editor to 'blend it in'.

And for that reason I think the gunbarrel at the start is vital, a visual trademark. Most importantly, I do think the Bond producers underestimate the buzz of preview screenings. What if we read the first tweet "Gunbarrel back at the start! Yayyyy!!" This would go round on the internet like a walking fire.

I know the Bond producers want to stay into the re-invention mood. But at one time it'll start looking forced and fake. And it'll start looking like some kind of.....shame for 'Cubby's legacy. This all will most likely not be the case for 'Skyfall', but certainly for future Bond films.

I almost wish Jaws will return.....albeit a more maccabre Jaws who's creating real horrific bloody scenes. Not the 'family' Jaws, but a true psychotic Jaws.

By the way.......the main titles are 'marvelously macabre'. What the hell does that mean. Girls heads chopped of?

Let's not forget everyone praised Casino Royale even though it featured the incredibly disrespectful line when Bond is asked "vodka martini, shaken not stirred?" and Bond replies with something like "do I look like I care?

That was really disrespectful to the franchise. Sticking the gun barrel at the end of the Craig films - or after a toilet fight in Casino Royale (what a lame setting for a Bond gun barrel scene!) shows you the producers don't care for tradition. Some Bond fans (perhaps not many that post on this site) might argue the casting of Craig was the worst example of them destroying the James Bond tradition!

Perhaps fans can email Sony Pictures and say "please change it." They won't listen but fans make or break films by choosing to attend them or not so your voice does count. If the producers become aware of how strongly fans feel about this they might - by some miracle - change it.

So if the gun-barrel is at the end of the movie again...why reshoot it? Why not keep the QoS one? Will Daniel reshoot it for every Bond film he does?

I think, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson work perfectly as a producers team. But one big difference from their (step)father Albert R. Broccoli and Harry Saltzman is the way they lead the production. 'Cubby' and Harry were much more stricter, much more 'bossy around bosses'. Barbara and Michael at times seem a bit lacklustre....but also a bit too liberal with their employees. I mean, what's wrong by saying to Thomas Newman "Please create a gunbarrel piece for the start of the movie" or to Danny Kleinman "Please don't experiment too much K? Let's make a well-crafted classic Bond titles sequence. Ooowh, and gunbarrel at the start."

Creative freedom is very important if you ask me......but to what extend when it concerns a clear formula from the biggest film franchise of all time? Barbara and Michael need to understand that if they feel a bit tired of Cubby's Bond formula, then they should quit for a while or produce some other Sundance Festival-like arthouse movies.

THEY MIGHT NOT LISTEN, BUT IN THE END. ITS THE FANS WHAT MAKES THESE FILMS HAPPEN. NO FANS, NO BOND FILM. So them not listening to us all is a disgrace and i will be emailing eon or sony soon.

A gun barrel opening like casino would make me slightly happier. But they cannot even do that. I cannot see how they could have let this happen. Who decided this. Idiots, they have no clue about classic bond then. The film is getting amazing reviews i know. so i might seem a bit to harsh, but it ment so much to me guys.
Cheer me up with something. lol

Okay... I know this is a bit crazy or radical but someone needs to go to the London premiere and hold up a banner:

"Boycott this film until Eon put the gun barrel back at the beginning of the films."

Perhaps a few less words than that. LOL But you will get some great attention from the media. It will take a bit of courage to do but heck, someone could do it!
  • I really thought that since it was the 50th, they'd see sense and do a proper gunbarrel. So the whole "it was a symbol that he'd become Bond!!!" thing for QOS was a load of BS.

So that's it I guess. We might never get it at the start again :(

Luckily it looks like the film will make up for it.

One reviewer says its the best bond film ever. So thats good. Its just that topping of the opening gun barrel what was needed. Oh well. it seems to be too much to ask guys. even for the true bond fans who know alot about bond.

OMG. You people should really take a step back and consider what you are posting.

Boycot the film? Seriously? This is a throwback to those "Craig is not Bond" days. And then they delivered Casino Royale. Well, lets hope that history repeats itself.

There's always bittorrent in a few months time! :))

Make your voice heard and avoid the cinema release and illegally download it in a few months time! Yes, the voice of the internet generation has spoken.

NO GUN BARREL AT THE BEGINNING - NO SEE FILM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    :D

I odnt think thats the same thing. The gun barrel at the end is not something that can turn out great. Totaly different to when daniel is not bond days.
  • I always thought, even though it wasn't there in CR and QOS, they'd bring it back to the start.

But now, it might be at the end for good. I suppose I'll just have to get used to it, but I really don't see the point changing it. The gunbarrel made a great opening, why move it?

it's all very amusing watching some of you throwing your toys out of your pram, it's not life and death it's a film, now if it is causing this much distress you really need to question how interesting your life really is and maybe find yourself something other than Bond to stimulate yourself, because if this is really causing some of you to cry you need help!
