Absolutely. it just didn't seem right, apart from CR, not to have it in its proper place!
I fear that if it isn't at the start of SP then we're not going to have it there ever in the future films.

It will be a shame if not. It's like they are tempering with an iconic piece of movie history. It's just like the saying, If it ain broke, don't fix it, and they are altering the mould of what 007 films should always have. I know its just a gun barrel, but it means the world to me for it to open spectre. Spectre seems to be ticking all the right boxes. It looks like the best bond yet. The gun barrel opening would be simply icing on the cake. But not long now until we all find out.

    According to leaks..(spoiler alert)
it is but the opening shot pans out from one if the eyes in a Day if the Dead mask.

Without me containing spoilers to your answer. I don't see how that can blend from a gun barrel really ? hmmm. That sounds amazing what you said, and it would make sense, but I don't see how it will join in.

I hate these bloody leaks. Can't wait until Bond 25 when we don't have to dance around all the spoilers.

I remember reading a post somewhere on these forums which compared Quantum of Solace's and Skyfall's gun barrel to "cheap-looking-vinyl." The comparison, while crude, is something I can unfortunately agree with. I'll never know why they went away from the modernized Binder design - the Brosnan gun barrels looked great.

Worse yet is the Skyfall posters cruelly teased us with the Binder design, but didn't deliver it in the final film.

Just use the Binder design again and slow the walk down. The QOS and SF gun barrels looked fan-made.

I recall that the SF gunbarrel had appeared earlier in the video game 007: Blood Stone (though unused and as an easter egg), and the SF TS literally borrowed heavily from the Blood Stone website for its "infinite zoom".

Nevertheless, I do hope to see the SP gunbarrel similar to those in Binder era.

I'm pretty confident that we'll see a gunbarrel at the start of Spectre. Still hate that they didn't include the gunbarrel at the start of Skyfall. Lame excuse by Mendes not to have used it then in my opinion.

And Craig better get his walk right this time!

Having the gb open the movie would definitely be a treat but for me, it's the least of my concerns. I can take it or leave it. The start of every Craig Bond movie so far, has proved to me it's not essential to my enjoyment. The opening to both QoS and SF are pretty damn good and as they are I wouldn't change them.

Still, it would definitely be great to have the gb open the movie to create that total packaged Bond movie experience but in the grand scheme of things, it's place on the priority list isn't as high for me as it is for others.

As of QoS, the gunbarrels are sped up so that Bond fires at 0:07s into the sequence. I doubt that'll change.

    I just heard the news:

The gun-barrel will not appear in the movie. It will be released as a web-isode!

    ;))
  • The webisode will get a cinema release and end up out-grossing Spectre

I thought the opening shot was the socket of one of those big skulls which I think works perfectly with the gunbarrel

I am hoping not to come here and see they change the GB back to the end. Im surprised there haven't been any screenings of the movie yet to the press.

I think that the only gun barrel that has worked not featuring in the beginning of the film was in Casino Royale. I remember the film starting, not seeing the gun barrel and wondering if I was in the right screening room, but that gun barrel really did work.

The CR gunbarrel is and always will be the best one, with a backstory that its (then) 20 predecessors don't offer, and prefectly blended to the title sequence. That arrangement shocked me when I saw it the first time. They wanted to do it again in QoS, but the short "white dot in ripple" simply didn't work for me. Lousy song too.

A personal imagination on the TS:
Bond get his job done in the PTS, looking at the bloodied Spectre ring in the helicopter, then POPS the OHMSS bullet hole motif, which blends with the opening WOTW, along with the title ala first teaser trailer or first announcement.

If the TS really comes with
flashback from DC's previous 3 outings
, then it would be as cliche as
    Spiderman 2 and 3. *LOL*
  • I was thinking that was real then. lol. I so god hope that the gun barrel is as the beginning, I'm told by a few people it is certainly back after the Columbia logo.

The fact that Sam Smith's video has him with the Skyfall coffins in the Roman 'cemeterry' in the background supports the idea of the TS being comprised of flashbacks from the previous movies, as it combines elements of the last two films. I actually thought that was quite clever, so what if the TS is actually made up of similar shots?

That would be also a throwback to the Goldfinger TS, which included footage of the movie itself. Kind of boring but maybe it's done right...

I haven't read any of the leaked scripts, this is pure speculation but I really like the idea of the TS taking elements from DC's previous Bonds - SP kind of ties things together from the last 3 - Mr White is back, follows on from Skyfall. And the OHMSS theme in the trailer, which of course did a similar thing in its TS ...

I surf by Sony Pictures Espana's YT channel and found this:

Frankly speaking, I don't like that design. A bit too simplified.

I hope they return to the original Binder look but modernised similar to Kleinman's original design.

I hope this also, but fear we're more likely to get a more shiny metalic look rather than something gritty like the original Binder barrel. Likewise I'd expect blood to pour down the screen quickly rather than flow. The Brosnan barrel got it spot on, but they've screwed it up since this, would love to be proved wrong!
