  • Recently had the chance to watch Eternals, and what a disappointment that was. One of my least favorites for sure.

It’s funny, because I can’t imagine anyone having high enough expectations to be disappointed with THAT film. I went into the film as a total skeptic. In the end? I think what they tried was different and interesting from the usual Marvel brand, but beyond that it’s nothing to sneeze at. Might end up more in the middle of a ranking.

The only thing refreshing about it was that it was the first MCU film in a long time to not have characters quipping jokes every other second.

I know what you mean, I'm not interested in it at all. I'll wait until it's on D+

I should have had low expectations. Interestingly, not a single person at my showing cheered or laughed. I've just come to expect that when seeing a Marvel film at the theater.

I agree about the joking part. It was rather refreshing.

Interesting trivia, ETERNALS is the first Marvel film to not have any characters from other MCU films making an appearance. The movie is so self contained that if they wanted they could ignore this film altogether from here on and it wouldn’t matter for the future films. The only indication that it’s an MCU film is that there’s a line or two dropped about how they were forbidden from participating in other conflicts like Thanos, but that’s it.

I suspect that it’s because Marvel didn’t really plan on making this film. Chloé Zhao was originally offered BLACK WIDOW, but turned that down in favor of doing this project instead.

I’m coming to the conclusion that it’s really hard to get into the MCU these days. Avengers: Endgame felt like a true conclusion. Now it’s requiring that everyone watch everything that it makes when the characters are hard too like because they’re quipping jokes and the villains are cliches and little b**tches at heart.

If I can watch TMWTGG, I can pretty much watch any MCU movie.

I didn't know where to post it, but, as a fan of this gentleman, all I can say is : Damn ! :(

I met him (and interviewed him) once during a signing in Paris. I will miss him, that's for sure.

I'm excited about it. I feel that it will either be great or completely bomb. Now that I've said that, watch it be a middle-of-the-pack haha.

Hawkeye episode 4 Good episode with overdue character building for Clint. Cutting out some of the filler from this series up to now, it would have worked better as a TV movie. The two leads are good.

    Drat!
    I wont sleep now. ;)
I'm looking forward to Spiderman NWH. I like Tom Holland in the role, he plays it well. Enough nerdy teenager, along with superhero bravado.
Marvel is a different beast to Bond

Not surprising at all.You have Spidey and Dr.Strange and a whole host of nostalgia with the returning Tobeyverse and Andyverse villains...as well as POSSIBLY Tobey and Andy themselves.

Also,Holland and Cumberbatch are likeable actors and ( so far ) there’s no woke nonsense in the marketing.

Pretty sure I saw a woman in the trailer, but once I'd stopped vomiting I recovered fairly quickly.

He's not doing either of those things, he's satirizing your opinion on "wokeness". You really do make yourself out to be a victim of everyone around here.

I’ve seen this consistency in fandom menace folks, seems to be a persecution complex of sorts. Like those being genuinely insulted when Brie Larson said something about straight white male journalists. As a straight white male, I couldn’t give a crap what Brie Larson says. Then again, I’m not an over privileged journalist writing clickbait material like “NEW JAMES BOND A BLACK LESBIAN FEMALE??”

Great article about how wokeness and superhero fatigue ( Mostly wokeness ) is killing the MCU.

“Great” is going to be very, very subjective here.

EDIT: Don't even know why I'm in here. I don't really care that much about the MCU. Carry on.

I don’t think people even know what they mean by that stupid word any more.
I like a superhero film, but it would rather obviously be the retirement of all of the top drawer superheroes which would make this period a tough one for the MCU, not because there are some people without penises in it.

Revealing the 3 Spidermen as far as I am aware all the trailers have hidden them.

Gosh, good eyes to whoever spotted that. I should think it is real isn't it?

I know folks were saying that that shot in the trailer was surely one which had three Spider Men in it and they've been removed, just like the character in the NTTD trailer.

Thing is you'd think that would come from the EPK which would have been sent out to all press companies, so either we'll see it in lots of places or maybe they'll recall it somehow?

Marvel have put stuff in their trailers just to throw people off.See the Infinity War trailer shot which shows a fully hulked out Banner charging into the final battle ( rather than the Hulkbuster suit which he uses in the film )

EON did the same omitting Matilde at Safin’s lair.
