Thor: Ragnarok first reviews are out...

This is very encouraging. The only thing that I'm concerned about from the trailers are the special effects. Otherwise this is my most anticipated film of the next few weeks. The cast itself is more than worth the price of entry.

I didn't feel this at all. If you look into introversion and extroversion you'll find that it is a science of energies where the introverted lose energy around others and extroverts gain it in social situations. Introverts are more comfortable around the familiar, and the extroverts of the world embrace changes and new experiences. As an introvert I know this, and was able to relate to Peter's plights as he tried to fit in and avoided being so anxious about so many things.

I'm an introvert. And although I am more comfortable around those who are familiar to me, I still have a tendency to be less outgoing than those familiar people around me. I can also say the same for the more introverted members of my family.

The Rotten Tomato score for "Thor Ragnarok" doesn't mean anything to me. I rather wait and form my own judgment after seeing the film. Hopefully, it will be the first MCU in at least two years that just might impress me.

I have a question. Regarding the Marvel and Disney films (SW and all the comic adaptations), do the actors have an indefinite contractual obligation, or is it just a two or three picture deal? Does Disney have an option to renew their contract if they choose (which the actor has to abide by)? I'm just curious about how much of a commitment they have.

From what I know (gleaned from commentaries and interviews) is that a lot of MCU actors sign on for 3 solo movies with a separate contract for crossovers. Downey Jr, for example, signed on for 3 Iron Man movies and 3 Avengers movies. His cameo in The Incredible Hulk wasn't covered in those contracts, his Civil War and Homecoming appearances weren't in those contracts, those were covered later.

I probably only know the basics behind these contracts, however.

Great, thanks. I was wondering about Downey because he's in a lot of the other films but there's no new Iron Man in the works. It does seem like they have a large commitment but none of them complain or try to get out of it so I'm assuming the compensation is decent enough despite these normally being ensemble affairs these days.

I suppose it's good recurring work for an actor in an uncertain business.

From what I understand, Infinity Wars 1 and 2 are the end of the current cycle, and they may reboot after that?

They are not rebooting after Avengers 4 but they did say that things will be different for the MCU and they won't be calling them "Phase (insert number here)" anymore.

Ok, thanks. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that there will be some drastic changes to certain characters post-Avengers 4.

They'll probably be dropping a few characters. My guess is Steve Rogers (Captain America) and Tony Stark (Iron-Man) won't be in the MCU after Avengers 4. However they may pass the mantle onto others. I have a feeling Bucky will become Captain America and they may introduce Riri Williams to take over for Tony as Iron Heart.

Really looking forward to your comments @DaltonCraig007. They keep running a Loki/Grandmaster/Thor/Hulk teaser in front of all the films I've seen in the theatre over the past few weeks and it's got me really pumped for this as well. Sadly I'll have to wait till Nov 3rd, and it's an agonizing feeling.

@bondjames I'll also post my quick reviews of Kingsman: The Golden Circle and Detroit, which were my last 2 trips to the cinema, I didn't have time to update the 'Last Movie you Watched' thread, so I waited until seeing 'Thor' to just post them all at once. I'll also be seeing Logan Lucky this Thursday.

@DaltonCraig007, I can't believe they haven't released Logan Lucky near you yet.

Come to think of it, I haven't seen too many members commenting on that film (or Kings for that matter) on this site, despite there being many Craig fans here, and was curious to know why. Perhaps these films just haven't been released in many markets yet.

He's looking good @DaltonCraig007. I haven't seen him in anything for a long time but could see him as a villain in a future Kingsman film. The guy has got something. A bit quirky but always watchable.

Taika Waititi is going places too.

@bondjames on that subject, I could have seen Nicolas Cage as a villain in a sequel to The Nice Guys with Gosling & Crowe if it ever got greenlighted.

Definitely @DaltonCraig007. He's another guy who seems to have disappeared lately. When he's on his game, he really steals the show.

Thor Ragnarok is doing big opening weekend business overseas with a +100m cumulative bow. I am quite keen to see how it performs stateside, given the markedly lighter tone in comparison to prior outings from the God of Thunder. It could portend a shift in blockbuster 'tone' going forward, particularly after BR2049's weak showing.

Well Thor: Ragnarok was great. Dumb, funny (hilarious actually) and action packed. Exactly the kind of film I wanted.

I didn't think I could love Cate Blanchett any more than I already do but if she can make the Goddess of Death sexy and relatable than the woman can do no wrong, ever.

Thor: Ragnarok expected to cross $400 million at the world wide box office by this Sunday once it makes its domestic opening weekend. The 1st Thor outing in 2011 made $449 million world wide in total.
