Title Credits: DN (Didn't mind Easton in the credits, but Binder's work here was a lot of rehash)
Main Villain: DN (Close though in my opinion, Kristatos is decent)
Main Bond Girl: DN (Better chemistry in DN gives Honey the edge)
Henchman: Tie (Both low in my rankings)
Overall Plot: FYEO (Good twist that is not expected upon first viewing)
Dialogue: DN (By a hair)
Score: FYEO (Love Conti's work and have it well above DN's score)
Settings: DN (With ease)
Action: FYEO (All the snow sequences are fantastic)
Humour: FYEO (Small margin, and FYEO has some jokes that miss for me, but overall has more)
Cinematography: DN (Small margin again)
Benign Bizarre: DN (Dragons!)
Suspense: FYEO (Cliff scene alone, but being dragged by the boat and the rest of the stealth infiltration of St. Cyrils makes this easy)
Minor Characters: Tie (Couldn't make up my mind)
Glamour: FYEO (By a hair thanks to the WDJ and fireside scene with the Countess)
Bond Performance: FYEO (Rog mixes the serious with humor well here and shows some transition into the more mature years of his Bond tenure)
DN: 7
FYEO: 8
Tie: 2
The slimmest of victories for FYEO, though it stands considerably lower in my overall ranks.

DN - 13
FYEO - 4
Title Track: DN - I have to say find FYEO probably the most insipid title track of all. Although Nobody Does It Bettef is a classic and I quite like All Time High AVTAK was a breath of fresh air after a decade of very average easy listening of which this and MR represent the low point.
Title Credits: DN - Fresh and full of energy whereas we're into late era Binder by numbers with FYEO.
Main Villain: DN - Menacing, aloof, condescending, iconic. Kristatos is none of these.
Main Bond Girl: FYEO - Melina and her revenge are decent especially when compared to overrated bikini on legs Honey.
Henchman: DN - Dent takes this despite his haplessness as Locque is merely average and Kriegler is so bad you'd be disappointed even if his character was called 'Piss poor Red Grant clone'.
Overall Plot: FYEO - Even though it's just chasing a Macguffin it's a bit more involving than DN's fairly standard detective tale and with a few nice slices of Fleming thrown in.
Dialogue: DN - Some very good scenes: Bond/M, Bond/Quarrel/Leiter/Freelance, No/Dent, Bond/Dent, Bond/No.
Score: Tie - Very close but while Monty does deliver some good stuff (Bond theme, Underneath the Mango Tree, Jamaica Jump Up) he also delivers some dross. Conti's GB and PTS versions of the Bond theme are excellent and cheesy though they are I do quite like the car chase and ski chase. It's a decent stab from Bill.
Settings: DN - Whilst DN only has the one real location it is used beautifully whereas the locations for FYEO might as well read the Alps and some generic Mediterranean countries.
Action: FYEO - Julienne and Bogner on excellent form and a bonus encore from Rick Sylvester. Easy win.
Humour: FYEO - Toned down Rog almost losing out to 'Don't let him get away' and 'I'm just looking' but there's still enough of the old Rog twinkle to get over the line.
Cinematography: DN - Looks amazing in bluesy whereas the pedestrian Glen era photography and the post MR scaling back on terms of spectacle do FYEO no favours.
Benign Bizarre: DN - Tarantulas, metal hands, cyanide cigarettes, dragon tanks. FYEO only really has the keelhauling and the JIM diving suit.
Suspense: FYEO - Bond on top of the ski jump, the diving scene, the climbing sequence. Comfortable win here for FYEO.
Minor Characters: DN - Quite close but Quarrel, Pussfeller, Leiter, Miss Taro, the Governor, Three Blind Mice beats Colombo, Ferrara, Gonzalez, Lisl, Bibi, Brink.
Glamour: DN - Casuallly lghting a fag in a casino while saying 'Bond, James Bond' before pulling a bird then going off to get handed a new Walther and a deadly mission for Queen & country and then coming home to find said bird waiting for you wearing just a shirt. That's the entireBondian fantasy compressed into about 7 mins of screentime.
Bond Performance: DN - The only rivals in this category are FRWL and CR. Simply sublime.
DN - 11
FYEO - 5
Tie - 1
My apologies once again, as finishing the game kept slipping my mind. But with the dearth of news about Bond 25, what's a month gone by? In any event, Dr. No kept its strong run going, taking down For Your Eyes Only by a margin of 265-138-5. It also won the overall games 17-6, notching another impressive win. I suppose it's as I said: when the movies are similar, small margins of victory can turn into runaways quickly.
And now it's time for Moore's penultimate Bond adventure to step into the ring, as Dr. No takes on Octopussy! My scores first...
Title Track: DN
Title Credits: DN
Main Villain: DN
Main Bond Girl: DN (Octopussy is an interesting idea, but she's unfortunately just that)
Henchman: DN (Gobinda is just a bit too generic)
Overall Plot: DN (OP is underrated, but it can't quite pull it off)
Dialogue: DN
Score: OP
Settings: OP (if you can nail Sotheby's, India, and a castle while keeping it Bondian, you get the nod)
Action: OP
Humour: DN
Cinematography: DN
Benign Bizarre: OP
Suspense: DN (Once again, OP comes far closer than it has any right to, between the auction and the clown sequence)
Minor Characters: DN
Glamour: DN
Bond Performance: DN
Despite a valiant performance from the wacky but fundamentally sound Octopussy, Dr. No cruises to a 13-4 victory.
That's about it for me, let's see your scores, and I promise there won't be yet another delayed ending.
DN is better. Some might realize...

Title Credits: OP -The octopus motif a bit more interesting than the dots but both far from my favourite.
Main Villain: DN - OP has two fabulous villains but neither of them can quite top the good Dr.
Main Bond Girl: OP - A nice mature girl for an ageing Rog and her moral ambiguity is far more interesting than Honey's bog standard damsel in distress. Lest we forget it's she who saves the day by turning on her partners in crime and shooting the lock off the bomb.
Henchman: OP - Gobinda has some great moments and although I enjoy Dent he hardly does any proper henching in the sense of being a man mountain.
Overall Plot: OP - Corking stuff. A Cold War cracker.
Dialogue: OP - Dinner with the Dr is good but there's so much to live in OP - the auction, the backgammon, dinner with Kamal, in the train with Orlov.
Score: OP - Barry v Monty no contest despite strong efforts from the Bond theme and Jump Up Jamaica.
Settings: OP - Great combo of the grit of East Germany and exoticism of India. Everything you want from Bond locations.
Action: OP - Absolutely top notch. Exceptional work from Messrs Fornoff, Grace, Worth and Lombard.
Humour: OP - Rog at his absolute peak.
Cinematography: Tie - DN does give a great flavour of Jamaica but OP hits back with some nice India stuff and great work by the 2nd unit.
Benign Bizarre: OP - Metal hands, tarantulas and dragon tanks v yoyo saws, clowns climbing the Berlin Wall, knife throwing twins, octopi, tigers and leeches.
Suspense: OP - From Bond crossing into East Berlin it just keeps cranking up and up until Octopussy blows the lock off and you can hear a pin drop with 10 secs to go.
Minor Characters: OP - Fanning is a bit of fun and I do have a soft spot for Vijay. It's rare you have a sense of loss when the sacrificial lamb gets killed but Armritraj is so engaging in the role it really is quite dusturbing.
Glamour: OP - Personal mini jets, Faberge eggs, backgammon, sumptuous hotels and palaces.
Bond Performance: DN - Spectacularly good as Rog is at nailing the cinematic Bond, Sean still wins it for portraying Fleming's Bond so accurately.

OP: 13

I actually intend to switch back and forth, and do Skyfall next, and then From Russia With Love. But by that point, we should be on to Bond 25, and it will be time to run that game. After that, who knows where the game shall take us?
