I've yet to see any of these! Have the 2007 remake on DVD though.
I'd say the same about Terminator 2.
I like T2 roughly the same as the first, personally.
Technically it's a great achievement, but it's too much of a repeat of the first. I've heard somewhere that T2 particularly resonated with children of divorce in the 90s, what with the surrogate dad that is the T-800, but it did very little to me. Kudos though for making a skinny actor genuinely threatening and making us believe he could easily take off Arnie mano a mano.
It is very similar, essentially the same film with a bigger budget to play with. I do like it, though. Both excellent films. Such a shame the series has been nothing but dismal, since.
I like McQ even more than BULLITT, and just on par with DIRTY HARRY.
Although I wouldn't compare McQ to Bullitt – the latter being one of my top three favourite films, I find McQ a very rewatchable film, and on par with Dirty Harry.
Afraid i cant agree with that. Dirty Harry and Bullitt are two of my favourite thrillers. Classics!
McQ doesnt come close, it does however have a fantastic car chase at the finale and a great score!
Although it may be arguably the best, THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK is my least favorite film in the SW original trilogy.
Why is that?
Being the best and the one you prefers are two different things. A Clockwork Orange may not the best Stanley Kubrick movie, but it's still my favourite.
Hard to say, really. Of the three it's the one I'm usually in the least mood to watch. Also I have fonder nostalgic memories seeing the other two. The first is my favorite, and ROTJ when I was a kid was such a huge event, it was a blast seeing that in the cinema.
I'll likely try and watch both at some point – maybe as a double feature. 2x Michael Caine is reason enough to do it!
And while I'm a big fan of Blake Edwards, I find the first Pink Panther flick to be a repulsive and classist movie with only one good scene (the chase with the old feller trying to cross the road): all the sequels featuring Peter Sellers as the only protagonist are vastly superior.
Necroposting: Lion King is not even a Top 10 Disney film for me.
I am in full agreement with you. Other than the car chase, I don’t find Bullitt to be all that memorable. As for McQ, normally I don’t care much for John Wayne, but I have a soft spot for the film itself. It has a great funky score, and a lovely Trans Am that McQ drives, I wince at the fate that befalls it

But I love them all!!! The main reason for me why I prefer ROTJ is the developed characters and arcs. Star Wars 1 is excellent, but the characters still feel a bit more archetypal than developed like they would be in the sequels.
Wow, to two things: finding my original post, and saying that about Lion King! A lot of people from my generation grew up on that movie. I’m in my 20s, but I agree with that now, as it is arguably a ripoff.
Yes, I bought it on DVD a few years ago and wasn't impressed at all. Never had the interest to watch it a second time.
