Yeah, cinema going just isn't the same wow factor anymore. People yapping, looking at mobile, making noise with sweet wrappers etc. I wish you could just watch films on your own with friends/family.

You can actually. Some cinemas offer "private screening" for a price. You should ask the manager at your movie house if they offer this. Here in the US, it normally works out to a about $200 USD or so. But if you divide that by 10 friends or so.........

I had a private screening for Matrix 4. Not that I had to pay extra, no one else was at that particular showing. It was beautiful

I remember having this experience for Batman Begins, but I think that was the only time really.

Sounds similar to both my theatrical outings of NTTD, so few people in the seats that you'd think you were alone.

The closest I've had to a "private viewing" was when I watched The Nice Guys. Only one other person in the room. Pity that it was a bad movie.

Shame, I loved that. That's one of the only "exclusive" viewings I've ever had in theaters, got early showing tickets to it weeks before release, had to get wanded and patted down and everything for it.

I watched THE MUMMY RETURNS, GHOST IN THE SHELL 2 and KIKI'S DELIVERY SERVICE in an empty room. 😉

Spider-Man: No Way Home has now delivered more cinema admissions in the UK than NTTD. It will be the 6th film to hit the £90M mark. Insane. It looks like it may be even hit £93M. Worth mentioning that Bond faced more competition and Spidey won’t top it even with more admissions mainly due to more child tickets for Spidey than there would be for NTTD.

NTTD is being re-released on to IMAX screens.

Looks like they’re going to try and boost the BO numbers a little more.

Good on them. I wish I lived closer to an IMAX cinema, I would've loved to see it in that format.
  • If any Craig Bond film deserves a re-release it's CR.

It already had two grossing roughly $11M outside the US.

And besides… CR wasn’t shot in IMAX. They’re doing this to NTTD because they shot part of it in full IMAX.

They actually could convert CR to an IMAX enhanced format like Marvel did with select films like IRON MAN, by opening up the frame to 1.90. The movie was shot in Super35, so it’s certainly possible. I think it would make sense to do it for its 20th anniversary in 2026.

CR with a live orchestra at the RAH was just fantastic.

I wonder if it got announced too soon. The Bond page has pulled it and Cary Fukunaga removed it from his Instagram Story. He replaced it with a quip to the effect of "if you saw my last post, pretend you didn't" and tagged Imax with the "shh" emoji.

What exactly are they expecting, BO wise? Is it going to be marketed as a 60th anniversary event for the franchise? It otherwise looks desperate to pad numbers that at this point shouldn't matter come the budget of the next film.... I wonder if its the new Amazon side of MGM that's pushing for an extended release...

This isn't new. During awards season films that are both nominated and win usually get an extended run in theaters so people can go see them either before or after the awards ceremonies.

It's possible MGM/EON spoke too soon and are waiting to see if NTTD gets more nominations in the bag. Whether it's BAFTAs or Oscars.

I missed what dates (if any) were announced in the now-deleted IMAX post from the 007 account and Fukunaga. But I'm surprised Spiderman has left any room in IMAX theaters for Bond to butt in, unless demand has already simmered down to fit more programming.

Will anyone go see NTTD again in IMAX? Not sure I'll swing it, I only barely made it through a second showing because I like the Commander Bond & Nomi assault so much up to a point. Regardless of your taste for it, that ending seems like one that's difficult to swallow again and again, though you could say the same for Casino Royale.

I'd most certainly see it again. The IMAX theater closet to me still has dates up on their website 🤔, quite curious that the post got deleted.

Maybe I'll go again and just show up late for the Cuba sequence, where the movie should have probably started originally, and then leave the moment Craig double taps Rami Malek. That's a solid Bond movie.

The post stated January 21st so that’s like in two days. Weird.

And just like that, suddenly I see showings for my local IMAX, pushing aside Spidey for exclusive all-day screenings.
