I personally feel they will now continue the opening gun barrel. I mean, it's so thrilling when it happens at the cinema. I would be gutted if it didn't happen, but im sure it will. I would be happy with the spectre gun barrel again, but the circle actually moving into the sequence, rather than fade out. I understand why they did it with spectre though, due to the dead are alive text.
But will they use the same one or film a new one. I actually like the spectre one with the gun swinging. Too bad it doesn’t open on the eye socket of the skull as in the script.
I can forgive Casino Royale because it was justified, but not with QOS and Skyfall.
Opening SPECTRE with the gunbarrel was a reason why I adored the film.
I see no reason why Bond 25 shouldn't open with it and I hope Fukunaga will respect the traditions instead of trying a gunbarrel-less artsy opening.
Agreed!
I wasn't even bothered by the James Bond Theme build-up during the logos in SPECTRE, I liked that one. That "Dead are Alive" caption was kinda out of place to be honest.
I would think that with it likely being Craig's last, we would get to see at least one of his gun barrels with the iris opening on the PTS. Preferably opening in a corner, rather than centred.
I certainly wouldn't rank a film based on it, the fact that the one DC film that we get the traditional GB is SPECTRE is no accounting for quality.
Also the black screen almost ruins the experience, Mendes pretentious decision, when opening the iris on the skull puppet would have been so much better says it all really.
Yes I want it at the beginning for Bond 25 but I'd go without to avoid the chance of another lazy film like SPECTRE.
But,as with the majority here, open the damn thing up at the end.
Otherwise,by all means re-use it,have a bit of consistency at least !!
I aggree. It's such a thrilling moment when you hear the music and see those circles. Ha. I was so excited when it finally came back with Spectre. That's one reason I loved spectre so much. They had more fun with that film and it finally had all the bond elements. As long as it opens the film ill be happy. But if they do a full traditional one then I will be pleased even more. They should never take away the gun barrel at the beginning. It's a tradition.
Honestly I loved how the music lined up. I liked how you could hear the music before you saw the bun barrel. I knew it was coming before it happened and was pleasant surprise. I know what you mean about it not lining up, but I thought it was perfect with it been daniels first opening gun barrel. Hopefully next one lines up more.
That's very good. I hope it's like that kind of. They seem to have blood spill faster now and not as much. I think that is a perfect gun barrel well done, but i think it will be just slightly more modern in the way spectre was done.
Exactly what I'd love to see in B25.
Great job!
More more !! Anyone else got one ?
Yes! I also want the blood to ooze rather than plop down, so we can hear the Bond Theme melody in it's full glory.
It would have been a fitting way to end DC's tenure as Bond with a traditional gun barrel.
Hopefully Daniel nails the gun barrel in Bond 25, all his traditional ones look like rushed after thoughts that were filmed quickly. The only way I would Daniel to be like Pierce is the gun barrel because Brosnan was great at the gun barrel I always thought
Disagree, it's one of the reasons I consider SPECTRE a fantastic film in terms of style. Of course, CR wins when it comes to action sequences and script. But I loved the old school formula back for SPECTRE.
No way. I cannot believe you said that. A true bond fan always gets excited with the opening gun barrel. Im glad it returned. it should never have gone.
+1
I feel extremely uncomfortable with a Bond film not starting with the gunbarrel (except in CR).
If Eon were to continue to remove it, I'd be surprised they don't get rid of the title sequence tradition and theme song as well.
If I want a film that doesn't have the gunbarrel, and other traditional elements I can always watch a DIE HARD movie or something.
