Oh I would suspect people are bang up for a new Marvel movie: they love 'em. You may have a point about the character, but I think the streaming thing is most likely it. Seeing a new film for (less than in some cases) the price of two cinema tickets is pretty tempting, plus FF9 saw a similar drop-off in the second week so I think the ground is still a bit shaky for movies in cinemas.
Didn't Vesper pop up in one already? I know she's in the CR titles, but I feel like we see her drowning in the Spectre titles...?
Yeah, if done right, it could work. But I think because of how SP wasn't too original, everything is likely be fresh and original in NTTD, including the title sequence. There's even a possibility of another innovative Gunbarrel design, posturing, gait and motion style of the Gunbarrel this time. Well, not long anymore. We'll find out very soon.
Sounds far fetched, but this gun barrel is clearly towards the end of the film… could imagine the Bond theme blaring right as the gunbarrel closes.
Oh man, that's right. If the podcast starts up again and marketing intensifies, we'll get teasers of his score.
Yeah. Zimmer & Marr will BONDIFY our ears soon :)>-
Cannot. Wait.
Absolutely :)
Agreed. It must have cost quite a lot to advertise during the olympics, even for a short spot. They would not have spent that money if they weren’t very confident. And now it’s on their Twitter and Instagram with the tag line that Bond is back in October. This is full steam ahead my friends.
All aboard the hype train!!
I love that tag line so much — "Bond is back". Simple, effective. And deadly cool.
James Bond is Back in Action (GF)
Look Up ! Look Down ! Look Out ! (TB) rather 60s
FAR UP ! FAR OUT ! FAR MORE ! (OHMSS) VERY 60s !
And a GREAT one for TSWLM, which was highly appropriate because the film itself truly marked a return after the tepid and comparatively lowly-funded LALD and TMWTGG, and the poster conveyed it well visually as well as with the tagline: It's the BIGGEST. It's the BEST. It's BOND. And B-E-Y-O-N-D
Yes it's always nice: I think that's not new to this round of NTTD promo though- they used it on the previous ones.
Good point.
Maybe Maserati dont want their car running over James Bond 😅
I know this is much more practically difficult than I'm going to make it sound, but I'm somewhat surprised they didn't try and bring the release forward by a 1-2 months.
The current date is likely too tied to existing promotional deals/partnerships/ad bookings for that to be a straightforward or feasible option, I admit.
But we've known for some time now (at least here in Canada) that the back half of this summer's going to be relatively "safe" and the end of September/early October will be precisely when the 4th "Delta wave" hits us hardest.
One would would have to think that they've "gotten good enough at this" (delaying the film) that they wouldn't be repeating past mistakes. So if we're seeing new marketing, they must be 100% committed to pushing it out October 1 / October 8.
I don't even want to think about what another delay would do to this fanbase.
I just know I'm going to have anxiety about it right up until the minute I'm sitting there about to hear the gun barrel. Even if this isn't the best Bond film, it will almost certainly be the most cathartic.
Fully agreed. As for a delay, not just the effect on the fanbase but on the reputation of Eon and marketability of the film itself. They would look pretty bad delaying yet again after other major films released on time. Especially after this latest heavily promoted TV spot reaffirming the release date. They'd become a laughing stock.
I don't think so, we all know these are tricky times.
I'm sure the fanbase would be fine too- we've survived this far.
I know I've had the first released episode bookmarked and revisited it a few times to listen to the Zimmer score snippets in the background. But it doesn't seem to be anywhere there today.
EDIT: Indeed, Spotify links from Google no longer work. Still up on Apple podcasts, though.
