According to Paul Duncan, NTTD has the potential to be in the top 5 of the saga

    https://twitter.com/kershed/status/1431444092190343170?s=20

Has Paul Duncan actually seen the film yet?
I think every new bond film has the potential to be a top 5 entry before it's released.

True. But as @Contraband has pointed out: Duncan is legit. No, he hasn't seen the film, but he's seen enough of the production to make a good guess on its quality.

When I learned something about filmmaking, when I was working myself in that business. You cannot guess on the quality of the finished product by the script or being on set.
You can have the best script, a fantastic read turning into a shitty movie, if the timing/editing etc. doesn't work.

So of course he can say: It's a fantastic script. But if the movie will live up to that, only people who actual saw the film can say.

I was on the set of DAF, read the script, intrerviewed actors, appeared in the film, watched dailies and thought it was going to turn out like OHMSS in tone. So what does that tell you?

Yeah @BMB007 I get what you mean. True, Mendes really needed time for SP. But all in all, SP isn't all that bad. I think why we continue to talk about it, is because it had serious potential to be not just a top Bond film, but a top spy thriller. But there's a feeling that if NTTD is super-brilliant, in retrospect, SP might grow in popularity over time.

And he knew it. I remember thinking how stressed he looked and sounded at the SP reveal, compared to SF just three years earlier. He most definitely was not happy with the script, and they never quite had it in shape. Regardless, I think he directed the hell out of that film.

I have come to accept and admire SP for what it is, rather than dislike it because it wasn't what I wanted it to be.

Absolutely, @delfloria. I'm relishing Paul Duncan's comments based on his current insight.

His later assessments will be equally interesting if they're shared. Whether or not they align with my own.

There's two scenes in Spectre that I think are probably the best "talking head" moments in all of Bond — the one with Bond and White with the chess table, and the one with Bond and Madeleine in the train car with the gun. I'm no expert, but gotta think the nature of those scenes (two people talking in a fixed environment) allowed Mendes to really flex his theater chops.

Yeah. That's it. Good news is, only Bond fans see slight flaws in Bond films, because we live, sleep, eat and dream Bond and will always nitpick, but casual Bond fans will never see flaws. A friend of mine who's a casual Bond fan recently said he's waiting to see if NTTD would top DAD, which is his favourite Bond film.

    That’s hilarious!

What’s great about these films is that someone’s favorite could be any of the 24.

Absolutely. That's what makes Bond so distinctive.

True. And literally, among fans, nobody should be denigrated or criticized for what they like. (Except for those who rank MR at #1... j/k!)

The MCU and Harry Potter fans should take note of the general public when it comes to your point.

I hope we get something new this coming week. Trailer, a new clip, music? Something would be nice. I need something to get me pumped up again for the release.

Yeah, with NFL starting in two weekends and the film get closer — I bet you'll see a blitz of marketing beginning shortly.

Yes - thought so since I saw the date when it was uploaded. Must've slipped by me pre-COVID :-O

Universal Italy just dropped a new “in a month” spot. 14 seconds and no new footage.

EDIT: I just saw Universal UK did the same one hour ago.

This one? although it's UK. Also Spain and some other country dropped the same. Universal global going at it in full force

    Yes. It’s gonna be a long month…

Hopefully the final trailer will be a banger and since it’s pretty long I’m confident there’s gonna be a lot of new stuff in it.
