Good grief , Daniel Craig has proven over and over that he knows what it takes to get in shape; he prepared for this shoot and it shows.

My theory, the general public is in such abysmal shape that anyone in good condition draws accusations, or speculation, of photo doctoring, steroids or airbrushing.
The fact is Daniel is in great shape but nothing outrageous, and nothing that can’t be achieved by just eating right and exercising. That doesn’t mean endless hours a day in the gym.
The one thing Daniel has going for him is that he is naturally lean and has a good foundation on which to build.

    That’s a bingo, my friend!

I'll second that, to think anyone would ever think he wouldn't, he's proven time and time again he turns up match fit and takes the job seriously.

No other actor who's played the part has shown so much commitment.

We'll see if the next candidate is as focused on the job.

So I was thinking about the suggestions people have of Madeleine Swann turning on James. So I think it's stupid, and would be too much of a 180 for the character after everything we've been through, but...

What I think would be interesting is to play with this theme that Madeleine and Bond represent life outside of being an assassin and being alone. While we all expect James Bond to fall back into it, which seems to be the case, what if Madeleine also falls back into the life she once had but more willingly than she did in Spectre.

Madeleine not only notices how Bond cannot escape the life he has, but she can't either. If the villain and mission become personal to her, she should have some development and she should grow from it. She can choose to return to that life unlike she did in Spectre. The flashback could even make sense, if the growth is that when she was younger, she protected her father from a man and was nearly killed (ice lake), and now she feels she must protect Bond from that man and is either killed or survives.

I could be reaching but I think this would be interesting than if she just became "that character" that tries to stop our protagonist from going on the adventure without any development or agency.

Holster the weapon, mate. I suspect that I'm not in 'abysmal' shape by any standard, nor naive. In fact, my time in elite sport might have made me rather cynical. If you don't believe that Hollywood's "anti-aging clinics" aren't bursting with celebrities, I have a bridge to sell you. I'd wager a solid proportion of the leading action stars are doing some HGH and test., at a minimum, and some of the bigger ones are likely putting an anabolic in the mix, too.

Anyway, Craig is my favourite Bond and I've never doubted his commitment. But at 51, it's also perfectly reasonable to wonder if the makeup/lighting/wardrobe people are doing what they can to help out.

None of us gets any younger, after all.

Well, here again I can't help but feel that they've painted themselves into a corner, in terms of the narrative. It might or might not play out the way you speculate here, but either way I'll be very curious to see if EON can manage to thread this needle.

I'll be honest - as much as EON should thank their lucky stars for Craig, who's done wonders for the franchise, there must be a bit of a sense of relief when they can get a fresh actor and step out from all this continuity stuff. I know if I were the screenwriter, I'd feel like I was groaning under the weight of the backstory.

They have but I have to say I respect them more for doing it anyway and bringing her back, because they easily could've just thrown her to the side and gotten rid of her with poor exposition. I'm concerned for it's approach in context, but I'm still intrigued by what they might do with her. Plus, with Phoebe and Fukunaga involved, there are now two people who I trust with this aspect of the story.

Well no weapon was drawn, mate; nothing was directed at you. As far as I know you have the physique of an Olympian.
As @peter can attest , my lifelong experience in health and fitness, with many years as a very successful personal trainer, gives me a certain insight int this subject.
Nothing in the way Daniel looks indicate s anything artificial.

I agree absolutely @talos7 ... he’s lean with a low fat %.... Looks perfectly natural.

And we know what you yourself look like Talos, and this is simply attributed to a clean diet, proper physical programming and a little genetics. As you said, Craig has a solid foundation to work from.

Just to be clear and not have any bad blood, my initial post was directed at the general population, many of whom are in horrible shape. In no way was I specifically citing any individual.

Anybody notice that Bond’s sailing yacht in the Jamaica shots is the same one he had in Casino Royale with Vesper Lynd in Venice, but now with a coat of blue paint on the hull instead of white.

Wonder if she’s called the “Vesper”?

Not the same boat. Same brand thought.

“Same brand”? The original boat in CR was “Spirit” by Spirit Yachts, a hand-built sloop that then re-sold for $600,000. The presence in this film and those images of a yacht with a matching hull design is not accidental as it would need to have been commissioned specifically by the production team for Bond’s use now he is retired.

This one looks like the Spirit 44e (electric powered), with the navy hull. I’d still like to see the “Vesper” name on the stern, though.

I know, but it was a Spirit 45 and this, as you say, is probably the 44e. I was just proposing it wasn't the same boat, that's all. The world "brand" doesn't apply too well to hand-built sloops, but I used it just to make this point, as you may very well understand.

The way he handled that VHS in SP, I doubt Bond dwells in the past and has romanticism enough in him to call the boat "Vesper". He could call it "dead bitch" though ;) - damn, that was harsh. Oh well, his words, not mine.

I agree, ideally they would be ready to shoot within a year of the release of 25; this would facilitate a two year gap between 25 and 26. Or the shot a year and a half out and release wit three years apart.
In this era though, I don’t see this happening .

You know what will happen? Craig will do a brilliant last film, in his top form, having the fun of his life. And he'll do (cue J.L. Picard's voice) what no one has ever done before, and finish his tenure on a high note, leaving us with the bitter after taste of not having more. Unlike Pierce, who deserved another to redeem DUD, Craig will deserve another because his last one will be one for the books. It will be the Bond film we all have been waiting for.

    ;)

Good points. And looking again I’ve changed my mind. There are fewer portals in the body, so it is obviously NOT intended to be the same boat after all. Rather, I think it’s product placement at work again, like when Glastron used to provide 007’s boats.
