This is just getting ridiculous now.
I imagine the ankle surgery definitely put a dent in the schedule, however, I have a hard time believing that it made it impossible for Malek and Craig to shoot together.
Malek is due to shoot Mr Robot until at least August this year. I believe the plan is that he'll sneak away for a few weeks to film some of Bond 25 scenes soon before going back to New York. He's then due to film a thriller with Denzel Washington at the end of the year.
I suppose they may have missed the brief window where he was available to film alongside Daniel Craig. However, Malek should be a free agent after August.
Also, Universal is the production team behind Mr Robot AND Bond 25. I'm sure they would force Sam Esmail to shoot scenes around Rami's absence, whilst he's filming Bond 25.
I'm sure it is a scheduling nightmare, but the real story from The Sun article is that filming was due to end in September but has not been pushed till October/November. The Rami Malek piece of news is accurate to an extent, but is not an unfixable problem.
Rami was photographed on 6 June in New York:
Can't he just get to London asap!
That’s pretty much all it’s been so far. Quite the bumpy ride.
Beyond ludicrous suggestion that they "can't film together" or however it's phrased.
So the combination of Craig's injury and the set explosion have added a few weeks to the schedule, essentially. That's the whole story. And no doubt that's shifted some avails mid-shoot which is going to be a tough exercise for the filmmakers and production team to navigate.
At this point I can't wait for the first trailer to come out, look amazing, and give all these outlets good reason to zip it for awhile.
It is actually pushed back to October/November according to The Sun. It it's true then release date will be changed for sure.
In any way it's better than to be silent and absorb only negative information.
What is more important to remember here is that the public interest is off the Charts. The tabloids would write a big story if Craig stubbed his toe on a doorstep at this point, because people care to read whats going on with B25 for some reason. When the movie comes out everyone and their Grandmother will have heard of it and that is a good thing. It was the same with CR, which never was a troubled production but the tabloids tried to make it look like one, because thats what tabloids do, they sell Drama.
Wait till the first trailer drops and most of the negativity will disappear.
"I'd rather slash my ankles, than...."?
What? Why? If they end filming in November, they'll have 5 months for post production, give or take a few weeks due to the Christmas/New Year holidays. Compared to Spectre's 3 months of post production, there's absolutely no reason to believe the film isn't going to make it in time to cinemas. No need to discuss the release date to be pushed back at the moment.
I even thought a September wrap on filming (6 months) is pretty short, compared to SP's 7 and SF's 7-8. So even without Craig injuring his ankle and Pinewood exploding, the dates are pretty normal to me.
Yes, @boldfinger's right (above). Don't allow yourself to be swayed by the gutter press and/ or clickbait-fuelled websites out there and their negative spin on *everything* they cover of Bond 25's production. It's continuing to experience hiccups (many movie productions do; making a film's a complex, very collaborative process, especially when it's on the scale of a Bond film and with all its technical demands), but so what?
Sections of the media's merely spinning things to suit their own ends (and other - even more reputable - media outlets are lazily falling into line and repeating their stories and/ or following a now established narrative). It's an age-old trick; don't fall for it and play their game is my advice. :)
Why should EON be punished?
Then another 2 years before the film actually begins production.
Presumably because of the perceived brilliance of Danny Boyle and ineptitude of Barbara Broccoli I imagine... (Where's the eye roll emoji when you need it)
It's all becoming rather self fulfilling prophecy. The media are churning out or repeating negative and critical stories which is causing sections of the fan base to become evermore so negative and critical in their reactions. Because Bond is a brand its a story when things go wrong and a non event if things are going right (Shout out to Star Wars, game of thrones, x men, etc, also on that respect who have also been going through this seemingly fall from media grace) . I remain thoroughly unconcerned regarding the so called troubled production. Eon know how to make a movie in the most stormy of surroundings, I trust them to make a good film. I trust the Director is the correct and frankly superior choice. I trust the producers. The cast. And the crew. Sure theres been problems. But half of the problem is overcoming it. And that's what they're doing. Personally, I never let the negativity surrounding casino royale bother me, nor will I for 25. It may not be the best bond movie, it may not be the worst, it may blow everyone's expectations. But I've been a fan of the franchise for twenty of my almost thirty years, I'm not about to give up on it now because of tabloid fodder. But each to their own I guess.
Very likely!
Recently posted photo with Cary Fukunaga. I don't know when it was taken but maybe new.
They can't however push the date back too far into November, as both Craig and de Armas will have promotional duties for 'Knives Out'.
I don't envy whoever is managing the marketing campaign for that. Trying to get that massive cast together for a premiere, plus the potential for DC and AdA's interviews being dominated by Bond questions.
That leaves 5 months for post-production. That would be the equivalent of a November-released Bond film finishing shooting in early June, which -- if I'm recalling correctly from recent entries -- is entirely consistent with precedent and arguably even a bit early. (Seem to recall Casino shot into July, but I could be wrong about that).
So, even with that extreme adjustment to compensate for its troubles, Bond 25 remains comfortably on track for an April 2020 release assuming a similar post-schedule to recent films is followed.
There's also no way, commercially, that they give up the April 8th date next year IMO. They'll move heaven and earth to hit it.
No idea when it was taken. CJF may ave flown over this weekend. However, he is due to film nightshoots all week at Pinewood.
But the photo is taken in New York by the looks of things and has zero to do with Bond 25. This is likely in relation to this story:

I suppose they are standing on the top of this building:
Lucky git.
In respect of the Malek news, it's catching fire on social media. The narrative around the film is not looking good and I've spent the last few days reading postmortem's on Dark Phoenix's flop at the box office. That film was plagued with rumours of reshoots, script problems, etc.
I feel with the talent involved behind Bond 25, this can be avoided, but having a negative narrative throughout production is no help.
Eon need to take control. They have to announce the title and invite the world's press to a glamorous location and win back their favour. Especially The Sun! They need to win them over asap as Murdoch's empire has a bee in their bonnet over this film and are really dictating the narrative.
