Well Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer himself retweeted an article speaking about the Valhalla being used in B25... sounds like a solid confirmation.
Very nice. So, the vantage V8, almost certainly the DB5, the Valhalla, and possibly the Neptune Aston Martin submarine (doubt this last one, but there was a short article on it a while ago). Damn, this is going to be a petrolhead dream.
PS: How have you been doing Mr. Roark? I see you've adopted you're true image in your avatar. Well done, sir. We must be true to ourselves ;) Which reminds me, I've got a short story being published soon which I think you'll enjoy, as the protagonist shares your line of work. When it's out, I'll be sure to send you one, if you want. Cheers.
Yes I did. Seemed natural! ;) Everything’s fine, I’m trying to be less involved in the production diary for the movie in order to avoid frustrating stuff surrounding the filming developments. Plus this time around everything seems super locked and surrounded by secrecy (which is good) but I also want to avoid too much information. Regarding your story: With pleasure, Univex. With pleasure. :)
I'd take that as about as solid as it gets. Coupled with the new photo in the paper -- rock on, Valhalla!
I love it. Very futuristic and cool. Almost a bit of a Lotus vibe.
Have to agree. I just can't imagine that rolling out of Q Branches new underground liar.
Can Craig even fit in it? It looks so small inside.
I am wondering if this is the car that they used that SPFX vehicle for in Norway. Would make sense if they wanted to delay he unveiling of it as in the film.
This car and the DB10 used in Spectre look too much like track cars to me
Yeah im feeling the same, if Bond has been off active duty, I feel Lynch's character has his code and flash car. Whereas he has to drive an old car out of storage, maybe he has a choice between a few astons and lotuses.
Indeed. And to those who don’t think it looks like an AM, do look up some other old models, you’ll be surprised. And I suppose it being an hypercar suits the narrativa at some point. As long as it’s not invisible!
Me.
Yeah, it's one of the few things that I've seen on this production that I'm not thrilled with .
Looks like something from a fast and furious movies rather than a bond movie.
No elegance to it.
No elegance? It's a beautiful car that harkens back to the lines of the DBR1. It's also a brilliant piece of engineering. I'm what you'd call a classic petrolhead and a fan of the 60's motoring language, and I tell you, that car has no place in a fast and furious film, as I hate those films and what they stand for in the motoring world. The 003 is another league. It's a modern day gentleman racer car. If one likes the Lotus Esprit S1 or the Jaguar XJ220 (or the more recent C-X75, seen in SP), one likes this sort of mid engine supercar. It's as classic as it gets in this format, with the pronounced round wheel arches. Granted, it's not a gentleman's grand tourer, or a small sports car. But Bond had a vintage (already vintage by 1955) Supercharged Birkin Blower Bentley. That's a beast of a car. So is this. I'm not saying it'll be Bond's ride. But it's a brilliant car, looks wise and engineering wise. And the reviews are incredibly good, BTW.
Just doesnt look like a bond car for a bond movie..
Well, at least I suppose we both dislike the FAF films. That's something ;)
If the villain drove it, would you think it was a proper car for a Bond film?
If Bond drove it in a race - the equivalent to the poker game at Montenegro when Bond was chosen because he was the best player in the service -, would you then think it was a proper car issued by the Her Majesty's government to beat a villain?
If Bond steals it from a bunch of hypercars, just because it was the perfect symbol of British fortitude, and drove it away, would you then think it was a worthy car for a Bond film?
...Many, many hypothesis. Too many to discard this as a car that doesn't suit a narrative we don't know a thing about.
It is a little sporty and Ferrari-esque than Bond's usual rides. Though it's cool to have something different, some of Bond's past cars can seem a little dainty and precious.
I suspect the Valhalla will belong to the new MI6 agent and Bond will get the older traditional Aston Martin V8 Vantage.
How her Majesty's government can justify the overheads of giving a spy a £1.5m car is beyond me. But I can't wait to see it in action.......
Hopefully confirmation arrives tomorrow. Which begs the question of who else will be revealed in the coming weeks as a promotional partner. Maybe Samsung for the phones? Apple don't do product placement.
@talos7, have you read my hypothesis? Just speculation and wild guessing, but there are many ways this could fit the narrative in an interesting way. More interesting than having HMG issue an hypercar to a (secret) agent. Now that would be ludicrous.
I really hope that's not the case.
If it is the main car that DC drives..then yes it would seem out of place in the james bond universe that he has created.
I could imagine this car in a DAD type movie.
I get what you mean. And I still hope it'll fit narrative wise. If it's Bond's main car just like the DB10 was, it will certainly be ridiculous, as you point out.
I have and I understand and appreciate it, but ultimately film is a visual medium and my reaction is based on that perspective. I don't find the look elegant in the least and, as noted, too "FAF"
