Craig looks old AF. I think this is the last film they could've squeezed out of him. He would not look the part next time.

Haha. People keep saying this since 2012.
It's all about styling. When he got longer hair and plays the character, he becomes the character.
Doesn't matter how old he looks. He would still be able to look younger with the right styling and lighting.

Seriously. The poor guy. He was just on Fallon a few weeks back and he looked great. I’m 28 and I look older/younger based on certain lighting, or how I style my hair, etc. Craig looks just fine.

I think he looks older, but I think it suits him. I really do. I'd love it if he could play Bond again, grey and white hair and all. It just makes him more menacing, I think. And he's in great shape. What a cool dude.

    Agreed.

It feels like inevitably this happens. Why does it always happen?

I'll admit in that video he doesn't look his usual sharp self (while in prolonged quarantine, no less!), but c'mon --

If I look that good when I'm 52, it'll be a damn miracle. Dude's an absolute beast and a legend. Even with a broken foot.

Naomi Harris on the December 2020 cover of Tatler Magazine plus two more stills. Harris reflects on lockdown loneliness, her glittering career and lighting up the endlessly delayed, but more anticipated than ever - Bond film, with her #MeToo-era Moneypenny. ‘It’s a difficult tightrope to walk,' she tells Tom Lamont. 'You have to honour the Bond of old... But then, as well, you have to move with the times.’ The December issue is on sale 3 November

I got my new Bond Cars book: I think there are two new shots in it of the Land Rovers flipping and jumping, plus we get a look at Paloma's car, which is a Chevy Bel Air. Confirmation that the DBS is Nomi's.
There's a nice big shot of the alternate version of the Bond/sunglasses/cufflinks/V8 first publicity shot where he's looking more to the right- we've seen that one before, haven't we?

So Paloma drives the black Bel Air?

The alternate V8 shot with Bond adjusting his cuff is in the 2021 calendar.

    Here it is:

So it says, yes. There's a photo of Lashana Lynch standing next to a DBS with the numberplate 'DBS 1', but I'm assuming that's not the one it wears in the film! :)

I thought I'd seen it somewhere, thanks.

Nice book! I feel like publishing the photos online for everyone to see for free is a good step along the way to ensure no more Bond books are ever made again, IMO.

As for the discussions of the relevancy of P Brosnan's various haircuts in a discussion of NTTD, to me, the relevancy is obvious: From trailers and publicity stills for NTTD, it appears Bond gets involved in a close shave more than once...(whistling)...yup...

Regarding Paloma's Chevy Bel Air 1957. How I think it plays out in Havana

Picture: Nomi with Valdo. Notice the wooden structure behind him. She's shooting at baddies who's standing on the opposite balcony which is the dance hall/spectre event.

    l9wTiuC.jpg

Meanwhile Paloma is fighting/shooting in the lobby, then Bond throwing her the machine gun, he runs up to the second floor, shoots Nomi's opponent on the balcony, then con't fighting with a baddie and both falls from the second floor down into the bar area, first floor.

Picture: Paloma steps out and kills the driver. Maybe because it's her car? Driver is dead but the car keeps rolling straight at the wooden structure in the background.

    ATEMrZK.jpg

Pictures: Bond steps out from the dance hall, turns and shoots into the lobby. He then con't towards the crashed car. In the fourth picture we can see that Valdo is now on the wodden structure -- to the right you can see his hand and the metal suitcase.

    1gTeHra.jpg

Valdo falls or jumps down on the bonnet. Unknown what happends next, if Bond rescue Valdo and takes the suitcase (the package Felix was talking about?). Going by all other footage the cuban police arrive and the mayhem con't.

Aftermatch, production still with Paloma's car and police cars

Nice work @Contraband :) I think the entire Cuba sequence is gonna be a huge highlight of this film.

Do they really use Ladas in Cuba? Must be some sort of Communist thing..?

Of course I guess there's a chance the book has it wrong about the Chevy being Paloma's as there's no photo of her actually driving it, but I've no reason to think it is wrong.

Yes they do - they even have these limo taxis in Havana:

"Splitting hairs" a reference to Safin having many children, and separating them from each other would be....yup....splitting heirs.

Excellent interview of Fukunaga in the French magazine "Première".

Short summary (sorry if my english is imperfect) :

    - For him and Linus Sandgren, color grading had to be a source of emotion. The whole film is thought as if the events took place in the last minutes of the twilight. They wanted a mixture of blue and white (this probably explains why the colour grading is so different in Matera between the first and second trailer).

    - Casino Royale is his first inspiration, he considers the film "vastly better" than Quantum, Skyfall and Spectre. NTTD will use themes from "Casino Royale" (how does it feel to be a killer...), but not from Skyfall and Spectre.

    - He had a very important creative control (director and main writer).

    - He is a fan of On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

NTTD sounds like it’ll be a classic based on what hearing. Ugh, I need to see this film yesterday.

There's a gofundme happening right now to raise the £600 million so some guy can just buy the film himself and distribute it before Christmas :)) hope it works out for him.
  • Every time Cary speaks on this film, I come away more impressed and eager to see the film. If he's drawing on the themes of CR but not SP and SF, I'm thinking they've probably scrapped the whole "Is Bond still relevant today?" narrative, which I'm happy to hear. I think Skyfall covered that as well as any Bond film could, I'm not sure why they decided to revisit that again and to a far, far, inferior job in Spectre.

Just about the most perfect formula possible, if there's also a From Russia with Love/Goldfinger splash in there. There's definitely a garnish of Dr. No...
