It never once crossed my mind that le Chiffre was gay.He had an extremely hot girlfriend!
I think some may misinterpret the '' Wow.You really looked after your body '' line.Just because you complement a guy on his physique doesnt make you gay!
As for the Amazon deal, mark my words they will want to milk the Bond franchise dry. They paid over 8 BILLION dollars and will want a return on their investment. That means Bond universe streaming shows, games (etc). They will not be satisfied with the long gaps between films that the Craig era has gone through.
Who he seems to have very little interest in, even when her arm is about to be chopped off!
Quite a contrast to the Le Chiffre of the book, who was actually spent SMERSH funds on brothels/prostitution because of his sex addiction.
Okay, thanks for that: I’ve not heard that before but that really helps to explain their relationship. Elvis is a useless family member that Greene is trying to help and Elvis is trying to please him - that works. Shame it’s not in the film! :)
Yes, I’d be amazed if it wasn’t something they’d decided to play up a bit, and it certainly comes across on screen. I mean, he does seem to have decided that Bond needs to be naked for this for some reason...
He’s also the only guy on that table who doesn’t give Vesper a second glance when she arrives in that dress.
Greene has to give him a job as nobody else would! He's basically taking pity on him as a family member! :))
I have to say I like it as a kind of counterintuitive one-off Bond henchman.
Yes it’s actually quite a fresh idea for a Bond and at least could have been the source of a decent gag or two (as long as it didn’t go full ‘I got a brudder’ silliness). But we don’t really get one or the other, sadly.
Yes that would have said something about Greene.

@AstonLotus
Apart from the fact that LeChiffre likes to hit Bond with a thick, phallic-looking rope (and comment on his body-- and he's obsessed with his penis), lets get to the Amazon deal: They spent that money for content... MGM owns thousands of hours of content. Content is gold. Bond is the cherry on the top.
The only thing Amazon can provide is a shorter time between Bond films (after casting that is); I doubt Amazon will be crying poor anytime soon, therefore, yes, Bond films will be more frequent (fingers crossed).
To me, the $8 billion is an absolute steal when you consider just how much stuff MGM have their hands in outside of Bond.
Don’t forget about A Christmas Story, a major merchandise machine.
Thomas Crown afair movies and The Great Escape (with Fox). Grand Prix (With Warner). Agent Cody Banks 1&2 (With Fox). With The hobbit movies and Tomb Raider 2018 Warner get help from MGM.
I was actually hoping WB would be the one to buy MGM, because they already have a solid history co-producing films like THE HOBBIT and CREED, and that it would have at least united the MGM library under one roof.
I was thinking of TV, too - considering Amazon are also big streamers of shows.
Basically, if Bond is worth even half of that pricetag, it's a good deal surely?
Bezos really living up to his new Bond villain/Dr. Evil persona… is he going to bring his cat?
Agreed. I never once thought LeChiffre was gay (or bisexual). To me, the line was leading to something left unsaid: LeChiffre telling Bond that his physical fitness was not about to help him.
Similarly, I didn't think Silva was gay...if anything, maybe bisexual. Nevertheless, the homoerotic moment between Bond and Silva was more about Silva trying to make Bond feel uncomfortable, testing his "training." Interestingly, it wasn't until the third or fourth viewing of SF that I realized that Bond's line "What makes you think this is my first time" was not about being touched like that by another man, but rather a direct reference to being tied to a chair by LeChiffre.
I'm not sure that would make any sense in the context? And Craig delivers it with an almost flirty wink in his voice. Everyone's free to interpret things as they want of course, but to me that joke only makes sense if he's talking about a sexual experience.
He might be lying, but equally, he did go to boarding school :D And he was in the Navy too...
I took it that he didnt actually care about her much. She was just his woman to do with as he pleased. He didnt say anything when her arm was going to get cut off because he figured better her than him.Even the black dude who threatened to do it called him on it.
Also,as for the amazon deal....this means they also have the rights to the Stargate franchise right?
The exchange started with Bond saying that M never tied him to a chair.
Well it starts with Silva talking about rats on an island, but Bond isn't referring to that either :D
Silva says "Huh, you’re trying to remember your training now. What’s the regulation to cover this?" referring to the way he's fondling Bond: "Well, first time for everything. Yes?". It just doesn't really make any sense to me that Bond would be talking about sitting on a chair when Silva is clearly talking about the way he's touching him.
The chair exchange is done when Silva replies "Her loss" after Bond says she never tied him to a chair. Call and response.
It seems more like he keeps her around to preserve appearances. He's not even shown to be interested in her when she's in her sexy swimsuit; also he's the only man on the table not to look at Vesper lustily in her figure-hugging dress (even though that was Bond's plan). He's never shown to have any sexual desire in the movie, until right at the end when we get a 'wow' out of him when he sees Bond's body (after presumably ordering that he's stripped naked) and starts paying his genitals an awful lot of attention. All of these together do rather point in one direction.

Good for MGM - that's a solid group of films to release in one year. When was the last time they had multiple buzz-worthy releases in a single year? Must be decades ago.

No James Bond this summer, thanks Amazon!
Six James Bond (one per actor) you won't be able to see this summer on our canvas. The James Bond are MGM productions, and the MGM just got redeemed by Amazon. Consequence: to date, movies are not available in theaters; a new arrival when printing the summer program.
So you can thank the e-commerce giant and hope with us that he finds a business interest (not for the love of art, let's not dream! ) to make this centenary studio catalogue available again. Otherwise, you will only be able to see masterpieces such as Brigadoon or Moonfleet Smugglers in the future on small screen.
For this summer programming and while waiting for Jeff Bezos's good willingness, we have concocted a mini ′′ Law of Gender ′′ bis, little sister of this year's, around the theme of the conspiracy. Kurt Russell or Cary Grant instead of Roger Moore or Timothy Dalton, you don't lose it completely!
