So beautiful! Everything about that film is gorgeous.
I've always been very partial to Leonard Rosenman's score for Beneath the Planet of the Apes (still my favourite film of the entire franchise).
His liturgy for the bomb-worshipping mutants is excellently eerie and offputting.
The different scores compliment each of the original Planet of the Apes films (I rarely watch Battle... and cant recall much of the music, I just think its very inferior to the other films).
Dirty Harry
Duck, You Sucker!
Another Lalo track from Enter the Dragon...
Bamboo Bird Cage
Sampans
Such a great score.
Great version of the classic theme.
This track compliments the anarchic firework finale.
One of the most memorable cinema experiences I have had, a lot of that was down to the incredible score by JB.

The Specialist ultimate soundtrack suite - John Barry

A little Morricone:
1:55 to 6:02 (Serene Family) is one my favorite Morricone compositions. That moment at 4:03 offers such depth of emotion. It really captures a domestic, family atmosphere without sounding generic or clichéd. 20:59 onwards (Preparation and Victory) is another standout for me.
And a little more:
I remember that second theme was used (with a pitch change) in the trailer for the Belmondo film Le professionnel.
And let's throw a little Mancini in there:
When I hear those finger cymbals I immediately think of Oddjob.
Humpty Dumpty Sat on a Wall.
Bob Sneaks In Some Goldfinger vibes here.
Kronos Unveiled Very Bond.
Hope phenomenal.
Black Hole Theme - John Barry
Yes!!!!!!!!!!! @Fire_and_Ice_Returns One of my favourite Barry Scores. It's deliciously repetitive, that it becomes infectious. The track Zero Gravity is a nice variation of the theme from the score.
And this, which you can hear underneath the orchestra in several cues:
After listening to it earlier I thought I need to rewatch the film, I like the movie though Barry's score elevates it further.
The Queens Messenger great piece of music from Jerry Goldsmith.
Agreed! A nice track. Goldsmith is such a consistent composer. There's no score of his I dislike. He even made people care about Rambo with his tough and soulful music.
First Blood was one of the first movie themes I bought, agree it adds depth to Rambo's character.
Exactly.
This is the version I own, amazing.
From 2:15 onward you don't want it to end.
My mother is friends with his niece and also worked where the John Barry Seven played in York. His music is truly outstanding.
Wow! That's some connection. Yeah, Barry's music makes the atmosphere better.
JB7 played at The Cats Whiskers, literally since I can remember I have always listened to John Barry it was omnipresent when growing up .
I agree completely.
Fantastic! By talking to you I'm only four degrees removed from greatness.
Absolutely love this score! It was the first soundtrack LP I ever bought. Way back in 1982! It was on the Pickwick label!
I am pretty sure I had a toy of one of the robots from The Black Hole mixed amongst all my Star Wars toys back then, the film helped set the tone in a way for many 80's movies in the following decade. Like another poster mentioned Barry does space well.
I had the Ernest Borgnine figure 😄
But yes, Barry does space very well. The film itself has not aged well, but it still looks fantastic for its age 👍
