For a second there I thought he'd said "I watched a porn film", and waited eagerly to see where he was going with that.
I definitely think he could! What I really want to see however, is him teaming up with Tarantino to do a spy story. Not Bond, but something original.
A shame EON didn't anticipate and lead the change rather than following. It felt pretty obvious to me that a major shake up was needed way before Bourne came along.
Pierce must harbour a bit of bitterness about how he was let go. It would be totally understandable. DAD was very commercially successful. It had a good cast and (in theory) a decent director. He probably thought at least one more film was his for the asking.
I doubt that he considers himself a better Bond than Craig. He has a bit more self awareness than that. But at the same time his criticisms of the Craig films lacking a lightness of touch is fair comment.
I often happily make plans in advance, only to regret having ever said 'yes' in the first place. It's easy to say 'yes' days or weeks in advance. But Broz did a solid job. Personally, I'd be a little melancholic to watch myself 25 years ago in a film I haven't seen since 1995.
GE is his very own Dorian Gray...................................
Anyway, the next livestream we Bond fans should make happen is one with Cary Fukunaga! I wrote to the head of Collider on Twitter and he seemingly indicated he was trying to get Fukunaga for the Collider livestream. But I haven't heard back since.
The other is Indiewire (who seemingly have a relationship with Fukunaga). I've posted in the comments of their Instagram and tagged Fukunaga.
If we can make some kind of effort to get Fukunaga and Collider/Indiewire to see that there is a big audience for this we could will this into existence!
The necessary links:
Well, the Indiewire and Collider livestreams are essentially long interviews.
See the incredible Roger Deakins and Barry Jenkin's below. (I don't think the entire Jenkins stream is available)
Roger spoke for nearly 90 minutes!
Let's back to the campaign to get Cary Fukunaga to do one. I've commented the above Instagram video saying: Any chance of getting @cary_fukunaga on a livestream if he is available?
If we can cause a movement on Instagram and show a demand, I'm certain they will make it happen. It's not like people are all that busy these days. Let's make it happen people.
If we all post something similar on the video, we can get the attention.
@antovolk and @marketto007 are the men to rally the troops on Twitter.
I'd much rather have Sam Mendes do one, for example. He actually seems fairly open about his experiences on the Bond films in recent interviews.
As a side note, why do so many people here post photos of people they're talking about?
That be amazing.
I agree. Id like to see Daniel do one. Cary would be great once NTTD comes out.
I'd certainly rather see NTTD first before having Cary a live stream. If I absolutely love the film, then I'll be thrilled if he'd do one.
Yes it doesn't make any sense to me to ask for Fukunaga to do one. Craig would be good I agree, he's all across his films and very knowledgable. I do think Mendes would be good though as he seems quite happy to explain a lot of stuff and even some negatives: he's certainly said which of his 007 films he prefers. Craig (understandably) has to toe the company line a bit more.
Good point about Craig. I don’t really know why I wouldn’t care as much to hear from Mendes, but objectively he would be a great one.
I'd rather not see Craig doing one right now for that very reason: he's still the current Bond and NTTD hasn't been released. Provided he does such a long interview where he primarily talks about Bond - knowing him he'd probably rather not spend the entire episode talking about Bond anyway - he still has to adhere to the positive company line. I know this is Daniel 'I don't give a f*ck what people think' Craig we're talking about here, but after the SP promo tour he seems very conscious about what he says when it comes to Bond. My fear is that if you were to do such an interview now, you wouldn't get much more out of him than what'll be on that Being James Bond documentary.
Whereas Pierce was able to say what he wanted about the films he's made. In 2012, he notoriously threw the CGI surfing scene from DAD under the bus. In the stream he did, the skiing scene from TWINE and the BMW in GE were ridiculed. And he doesn't have to panic when he gets TND and TWINE mixed up or calls the DB5 a DB7.
Craig can't do any of these things yet, and a bit of distance might also help him looking back on his tenure better, while right now he's still in it.
I'd love Dalton to do one. I think I said this already but it'd be so great to get these kind of retrospects one from each actor (except for Roger, obviously). Connery would almost definitely say no, though, and even if he did agree I don't know what shape he's in health wise at the moment.
But, if I were a person who had the power to make it happen, I would. I really enjoyed Pierce's commentary.
Well in terms of Bond actors it's either him or Dalton who's available really, and I don't think Dalton is going to be all that interesting. I really don't think Craig is as down on Bond as you seem to think he is. No one else has done it longer!
It would obviously be nice to have Connery do one, which would never happen of course. Imagine if he and Craig did Goldfinger or FRWL or something; Craig asking him questions about his run, and Connery commenting on what Craig has done with the role. A pipedream scenario of course, but still fun to think about.
He's always around. I'm sure he'd do one too.
Yeah you could put him in there. I dunno, I feel like he must've said everything he possibly can have done about a few months of his life fifty years ago so I can't summon much enthusiasm, but if he wanted to that'd be great.
I might be wrong but I get the feeling he's not up to it any more.
Connery? Definitely not. :(
Agree 100% about George. Bless him, he's probably said everything there is to be said about his run as Bond.
I never heard anything about his meeting with Tarantino before and he is so likeable when he always checks the camera and says "I hope it works. Is it still rolling?".
Brosnan: "Question time". He reads….still...and he reads. Were there so many shitty questions? If so, they should have really filtered it for him beforehand.
Equally he could have had a quick scan of them before it started! :) Maybe they only got them to him in the last few minutes I don't know.
I can imagine it must be pretty soul-destroying to be sat telling stories and trying to be sparkling for two hours when you're not even sure if anyone is hearing you. Shame he didn't just ask his son to check he was broadcasting on his phone or something! :)
Are you sure? It was advertised as live. What’s your source?
He said he hopes they do; I took that to mean he mistakenly thought he wasn't live?
