From the developers of the new Hitman series too! Very excited.
And here we go.
2023 at the earliest. This announcement is basically the same as the Avengers game announcement back in 2017.
Why have the filmmakers never thought of that?
Because as good as this was, the gunbarrel we all know and love is perfect as is and you don't fix what ain't broke.
Yeah, I loved it. The weight of the bullet (symbolism) was really felt; very dynamic and cool. I agree with @Agent007391 though, a once off is nice but I like the simpler gunbarrel for the films (with the searchlights preceding it et al).
If they put a drunken father christmas in the mission, then that would be the best easter egg. :))
I want this too.
Yeah that is nice. Because game soundtracks are proper things now, so hopefully they get someone up to the job. The last Bond game I played a lot was probably Bloodstone and it has a terrible score, just completely wrong for CraigBond.
I kinda liked the score for Bloodstone, but besides that, I am really looking forward to a new score as well! My desire is simple: Bond theme, Bond theme, Bond theme. I think Bloodstone had a tiny bit of theme coming in at the end when chasing Nicole and then the end credits, 007 Legends (despite the GF and OHMSS instrumentals) was also light on the themes. Especially when playing a Bond game, I want that theme playing, like a musical power-up.
And maybe it’s too much to ask, but if they’re doing a title sequence with an original song, having that song as an instrumental overarching theme would be nice, certainly if it’s a villain song like GF.
I was thinking to myself the other day that we would never see another Bond video game again. What a pleasant surprise this was, hopefully it's only two years out. I could have sworn they said they were already working on a new IP for the studio in a documentary last year. I wonder if said IP was actually this project.
I might do something simple on this weekend. I'll be posting on my new gaming channel.
1. I more than likely see it taking place present day. As for the 50’s, see below.
2. Hopefully a new person.
3. If it is set in the 50’s, hopefully both will be influenced in some way in the game. Both have great stories and material yet to be adapted. Anthony Horowitz only wants Bond to take place in the 50’s. I was wondering if Dynamite Comics’ James Bond Origins will play a part in influencing the game.
4. Easter eggs are nice, see below.
Some questions of my own:
Who are some of EON’s crew members working on it? Could Bruce Feirstein be coming back to write the script? He’s got experience in more than one Bond media. Could Martin Campbell, Sam Mendes or Cary Joji Fukunaga have influence? CJF is a gamer. How about Barbara Broccoli, Michael G. or Gregg Wilson? They are the deciders of James Bond’s future.
Is internet connection required? That’s one thing that bothers me, some video games need internet full time to work. Not everyone has it for their game systems!
What other known characters could we see? For allies, I would like the usual MI6 regulars, maybe even Loelia Ponsonby or Mary Goodnight, with Ralph Fiennes back as M. Felix Leiter and Alec Trevelyan as well, as it is a origin story. However the outside ally character choices I’d like to see are May and Kincade. There’s a lot more that should be done with their characters.
As for the villains of Project 007, there are two I have in mind, as for main villains: Auric Goldfinger and Ernst Stavro Blofeld. They could be setup for future adventures.
All in all, I’m happy for this news, I hope some of my predictions come true (namely in the character department) and I can wait to find out more!
Imagine if they could get zimmer to do the score [-O< .I know it's very unlikely but just a wishful thinking on my part as a fan.
Be sure to send a link. :)
On Eon: I think BB and the Wilsons will be involved on a very birds-eye view level. Meaning, IOI will run everything by them but they are not involved in the actual production. But they will certainly give notes. As for others: The director is an interesting question. In the last few years there have been a couple of instances, where very well known film directors have "directed a video game". Honestly, I have no idea, how involved they actually are in those instances. I personally can't see it here.
Always-online: Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but Hitman 1 was always-on and Hitman 2 (and presumably 3) can be played offline, but you loose functionality like leaderboards, certain unlockable items and so on. From what I gather, IOI has been very active in tweaking the different levels and adding challenges and stuff long after the original release. That of course requires a connection now and again. Kind of depends on the structure of Project 007, but I would expect something similar.
Other Characters: I have been thinking about this in conjunction with the general structure of Project 007. Now, I am hopelessly old-fashinoned and behind the curve on games, but I think it would be nice to have the MI6 building as a bit of a home base (all of this only halfway works with the "earning your 00 status" bit, but whatever) where you can get new missions from M, or smaller side mission things from Tanner or others, get some weapons practice in and of course select load-outs from Q. This would open the door for so many Easter Eggs. I mean, imagine they hired somebody who really, really knows their way around the entire franchise and have them write ungodly amounts of "records" you could just go through in the archives.
Going on from this: I think structurally, the Hitman games are close to what I would want from a 007 game, when it comes to level design. If the choices are fully open world, various smaller sandbox levels and completely linear levels, I think the middle ground is the way to go. In my opinion, there have to be multiple locations, and while driving has to be a part of it, I don't really want to spend a substantial amount of playing time in transit (like in Red Dead Redemption II for example). On the other end of the extreme, I would like some open world elements. F.e. if one of the levels is a Casino, I want to be able to just load up that level outside of missions and play a few games of Baccarat or Poker and hang out.
I feel like with Eon's involvement in this it's more likely to feel like the world of the movies rather than the books or comics, but of course it's early days- I wonder if they even have that pinned down yet. You never know, the whole 'origin story' thing might not even be set in stone yet and disappear by the time we see it.
Although I must admit I haven't gamed since the late 2000's. I've never played GE 2010 or 007 Legends either. I want to, but no idea on which device I should play them. My latest PlayStation is 2, so I suppose I'm not quite the most modern guy on that account.
And can someone make some fan art I want something related to this to be background on my phone
Wrong way around, but still..
