    #1 is For Special Services.

    #2 is Cedar Leiter.

    #3 is Walter Luxor.

    #4 is Mike Mazzard.

I'm just now realizing Bond probably doesn't use Fleming's "Mark Hazard" alias in FSS and that I probably got that mixed up at some point with Mike Mazzard.

That would have been cool if Gardner or somebody else had revisited the Mark Hazard alias.

Thanks for letting me slip those in, @Dragonpol, all are correct. And there really is a WOODCHUCK USA Cedar Lighter, by Zippo.

Yes, I see the similarity in the names. It could well be the case. Bond tended to use the James Boldman cover identity in the Gardner novels from a certain point onwards until M decided the cover had probably been blown by overuse!

I think I'm right in saying that the only place where the Mark Hazard ID was used besides Fleming's The Man with the Golden Gun was in some of the Daily Express original Bond comic strips.

Or when M realized that James Boldman is a terrible cover for a spy named James Bond.

"No, you're quite mistaken, sir. I couldn't possibly be James Bond who lives at 25 Wellington Square in Chelsea. I'm James Boldman who lives at 26 Wellington Square in Chelsea. Happens all the time. Good day."

  • Daaang, @Dragonpol. You led me on a merry chase with this one, but I should have known where the road would lead.

    May-Eve-Horton

Maeve Horton, a widow and flower grower who is somehow connected to David Dragonpol in Never Send Flowers. Been too long since I've read that one to recall how she factors into the story, but I'll find out when I re-read it one of these days.

Correct, she was his younger sister. Well done, @Some_Kind_Of_Hero! Over to you.

So my unposted guess "May-Eve-Who?" is incorrect after all.
  • Coo, here's one for all you folks who have never picked up a Gardner before:

So. The other Johnson. Tee 海河 Johnson.

Tea, China River/Haihee, John McLean Sun.

  • Close enough, yes, @RichardTheBruce. That is a picture of Summer Glau playing River Tam, and "river" in Chinese is "he."

How about these. Last one solved has the floor.

Yes for #2 @Dragonpol, additionally that's the Ford Ka driven by Camille in QOS.

I was going to say "The Big Knit" for #1 but I imagine that's probably wrong. That was Michael Caine's nickname for Roger Moore as he was famous as a knitwear model early in his career. Probably too tenuous a link to Bond though.

First syllable "knit". Relates very near term to the films.

  • Aha...I see a little place in Norway called Nittedal features in Bond 25.

"Knit" and "a doll" would appear to be what we have there.
