My thoughts exactly. 😉
Indeed, I think there already is a 'Rank the scores' thread ;)
@Creasy47, I won't be starting the count until tomorrow evening. So if you still want to submit, go for it ;)
Please do, @Creasy47, if you can find the time. ;-) The more people who have entered, the more interesting the results!
However the end result rarely matched that of my Bond film ranking.
I think this could be one of the most diverse games yet.
And yes, @Creasy47 if you get the chance, please join in. Or I wont mix your martini the way you like it. ;)
That'd be Tuesday evening, then? I have work today and I'll be watching the baby again tonight, but if that is the case, I'll try my hardest to go through it when I have the time today/tonight and get one in. I'd love to participate. Thanks a ton, as always, GG!
No hurry, indeed.
+1
It's my No. 2
Great! Glad you found the time, @Creasy47!
Same here! Don't think I've ever sat down and listened to so many soundtracks all in one go like that, it was very entertaining. Can't wait to see how the rankings went for everyone else, that was a surprising list, for sure.
Such good sport. ;)
I'm extremely excited to see the results. I'd be shocked if OHMSS doesn't get first place, although it's not my number one.
Would be nice to see another score in first place for a change.
Herb Alpert was at the top of his career and "The Look of Love" and the "Casino Royale theme" alone are quintessential hymns of the late 60ies.
Check out the "Casino Royale" FULL SOUNDTRACK ALBUM 1967 STEREO on YT.
It was hard for me to rank it higher than I did but it's a really fitting soundtrack for sure, unofficial installment or not.
@Zebrafish. To quote Ken Adam: “….Ah, The 60s…..”
The soundtrack to CR’67 is also in my personal top 5. Is it a “traditional” bond score? Well NO….but it sure is a lot of FUN. And that is what makes it so enjoyable….the over the top-ness of it just makes me smile every time I listen to it.
Back in 2012 (in prep for SF), I created a “Themes of James Bond” mixtape (remember them? 😊), and I sequenced it so that the tracks “Dream on James, You’re Winning” would kick it off, while the end credit vocal version of “Casino Royale” would conclude it. It’s silly, but there was something very appealing about ending a Bond tape with:
♫…He’s got a redhead on his arms…
. even though he’s a lover, when you are in trouble
Have no fear, look who’s here…. JAMES BOND!!!
….
They’ve got us on the run,
With guns and knives…we’re fighting for our lives
…have no fear, BOND IS HERE!!!
He’s going to save the world at Casino Royale!
…♫
BTW. For many years the LP of the CR’67 soundtrack was used a kind of quality test for high end stereo systems among
Paywall?

I'll try and get this ranking going as soon as possible!!
I was having a similar issue with OP when I dwelled on it. Had to look them up.
That's a little ironic to me as I think OP has one of the very best scores in the series.
OP is an interesting case. The music does tend to fade into the background of the film by comparison with how bold and in your face many of the other films’ scores are (and not only Barry’s, but Martin’s, Hamlisch’s, Arnold’s, etc.). Even when isolated from the film, OP tends to lean away from big identifiable themes (with the exception of “All Time High” which features in one of Barry’s most sublime compositions, “That’s My Little Octopussy”). The better part of the score is tension-filled or moody suspense pieces. It’s really excellent work when you sit down and listen to it, and while you may not notice it, it does truly drive the more suspenseful parts of the film. But that’s just the thing, it works but goes unnoticed. I believe TWINE works in a similar way. Elektra’s theme is elegant, lovely, and sinister when needed, but it tends to feature in subtler ways throughout the film, and while TWINE’s score as a whole is really quite excellent, it’s not as obviously melodic, thematic, or memorable as DAD, for instance.
I do still adore the Severnaya Suite and I hold the GE Overture as a top musical cue for the franchise though, as well as the piece that plays when Bond first lands in St. Petersburg. And "Run, Shoot, Jump" is a great action cue and worthy of its multiple appearances in the film.
Let's just give three members of our distinguished Academy an opportunity to adjust their rankings. They submitted on time but forgot to rank one or two entries or entered a film twice.
At the moment things are really tight at the top.
At the risk of sounding a bit silly, I must admit the tension is killing me. ;-)
