    Found an old screenshot of KTBEU from just before it got nuked, and my join date was 15 February. Also, in the screenshot is @TheWhiteTuxedo, who was a prominent mod back in the day, joined 25 March 2003. He's pretty much dropped out of visiting forums altogether I think. I still chat with him and @Fairbairn-Sykes pretty regularly, of course a TON of it about Star Trek.

    The "Celebrating 10 Years" post brought me here. Lots of old names you don't see around anymore on the archived pages...

    That said, I was able to find that my official membership began May 12, 2004. Seems about right, as I had been a long-time lurker before joining, especially during the DAD pre-production in 2002. I'm glad the archiving is minimal, as I know there are some posts out there that I'd rather not have to remember. XD

    IIRC, I think he relinquished his modship during the last two years because he took a months break from being online. When he came back he turned down being made a mod again.

    It's interesting to see the designated 00 Agent members of that forum who were automatically registered in MI6 Community like myself by the administrators, but many of those members were no longer active by the time KTBEU was coming to an end.

    I recall being "mod-ified" in 2010 or early 2011, pretty much right before the big forum reboot. At that stage, Tux wasn't a mod anymore.

    We bonded many years later over a similar opinion in a certain matter which ended up in its own thread that spawned hundreds of pages.

    I am saddened that despite our repeated requests, Tux crossed a certain delicate line more than once and finally had to leave. I'd always liked him very much. But I refuse to be active on anything social mediawise apart from this forum; hence, I immediately lose contact as soon as people walk away from here. Too bad.

    Tux is just one case. I also deeply miss Perilagu Khan, Saint George and Barryt007, to name but a few.

    Then there's SirHenry, whom I of course miss very much, and who, if memory serves, is the only member so far confirmed to have passed away.

    @Chigawa also passed away, sadly.

    A big reason for why I left for a few years was because of how the transition from KTBEU to MI6Community was handled. I stuck around the Bond and Beyond forum which had a pretty good membership during the early 2010s, but had been limping post-Skyfall. That's where the likes of Perilagu Khan, Lazenby., FieldsMan, Sir Hilary Bray OBE, Largo's Shark, Jack Wade, CommanderJamesBond, etc had moved to after the shutting of the old forum. I tried to keep BAB going, but it's become a place I just wasn't enjoying visiting anymore.

    Crazy to think all that drama happened 10 years ago now. James Page was pretty bitter over how many of us jumped ship.

    I assume - or rather, I hope - that those wounds have healed by now. The Community is going strong; it is a place I love to visit every day. I am not even sure anymore what was said then and by whom and who or why left for BAB. I honestly do not care. I am very happy to call most members here good friends. A community of fans is more than a "www" after all. 😉

    Certainly! I'm well past whatever went down, it would be absurd to keep that grudge for ten years. I've been more active here since the past two years or so.

    I still think it's funny though that when this place started the mods were gonna try to crack down on copyrighted EON images in avatars. Obviously that priority dropped. One thing I liked about KTBEU was that we were forced to look for non-copyrighted images to submit, and there was a lot of really great submissions of actors from the 60s which were difficult to find because most of their images on search engines are all Bond related.

    Silly question, but were the old KTBEU forums archived? I'd love to see my old posts under the Mr Somerset name. I remember being very active during 2005 and 2006.

    Unfortunately not, at least not any further than archive.org was able to save. My understanding was there was a conflict with the domain holder which is partly why that forum was abandoned. After it was deleted, for awhile if you used the original link it would have directed you to CommanderBond.net... which is a pretty spiteful act.

    I don't know any of the details beyond that.

    He passed away? Damn, I'm sorry to read that. I never talked to him, nor did I know he was a user here (and on KTBEU I presume), but I've always loved his 2006 AVTAK trailer and one he did for Octopussy around the same time period. Skillful, energetic editing.
