This tread makes me want to watch THE ROCK again.
I actually haven't seen it since it came out in '96. I remember quite loving it at the time.

I love a line in the trailer. "This summer... get ready TO ROCK."

It's really something. Not quite as good as Outland, but close. More action...

Outland is another one I liked as a kid and haven't seen in ages. Looks like I need to start rebuilding my Connery movie library.

Outland is often mentioned in relation to Alien. I think I prefer Outland.

They might take place in the same 'verse, but Alien is horror & Outland is action. I prefer action.
  • Definitely THE ROCK. Next to James Bond, I think John Mason was the other coolest and greatest role that Connery played.

Funny that The Rock is mentioned here, as the first of the last Connery Bonds, YOLT, features the Grandfather of Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, as a henchman.

Speaking of whom, Dwayne with his limited acting capability and impressive physique, would make a great new Bond henchman.

I like The Rock but at the same time it's dated and embarrassing at times.

Just saw this as of interest, likely posted elsewhere.

WHAT IF: SEAN CONNERY WAS IN GOLDENEYE

I like DAF most. It’s the kind of Bond film I can always put on at any time and enjoy it as much.

Awesome! That would have been something.

The Rock is superb. If that is Connery's final Bond film in all but name, then I'd go with that (although I do have a weak spot for DAF).

Another Connery Bondesque performance that often gets overlooked is Rising Sun. Connery looks dapper and suited all the way through this film.

If The Rock actually counts, then that.

    DAF otherwise.

Love that movie. "You should know I'm a black belt." "But of courshe shou are, dear."

And when he does take the suit jacket off, which I believe happens only once, he's wearing a shoulder holster with a big revolver. Badass. "Time to be among them."
