Nice photos of the Premiere. I reckon Richard Kiel should have kept the beard for his portrayal of 'Jaws'! 😆

I agree, actually. Makes him look even more menacing.

Definitely for Moonraker, he should have had it.

In the Dark Alley of Rio De Janeiro, I think.
  • Is it true that Babs Bach and Sir Rog didn’t get along during filming? Any ideas what the issue was? It doesn’t really show in any of those photos.

I don't know 100% about that (I always presumed they got along fine). I do know that Bach basically said that the character of Bond was a chauvinist pig shortly after she finished the film. To be fair that's not a million miles away from some of the stuff Diana Rigg said about Bond after she finished OHMSS. I haven't read of her saying anything negative about Moore.

Moore's book Bond on Bond indicates that he had only issues with Jones and Roberts in AVTAK, mainly because they seemed to be more focused on make up than the movie...

Anyway, great pictures from TSWLM. There are a lot I have never seen before. Love the one with M/Bond/Gogol/Anya in a row behind each other. Looks like an idea from Sir Roger.

Glad so many people are enjoying these as much as I do. There are plenty I haven't seen before, so finding them is something of a treat.
Still plenty more to come from TSWLM.

Wait, does this mean there was a small scale model of the Esprit as well, or is this just a very big set that makes it look small? The bubbles suggest it is a small car.

Yeah, and you can see a hand holding the rig guiding it above for size comparison- it's maybe about 250-300mm long? I assume they needed a small scale one for the model of Atlantis' downstairs bits it had to appear next to. I remember there's a shot in the film of it from the rear where some pretty massive bubbles are coming out and it looks like a much smaller model than the four foot ones used for other sequences.

From memory the scale model was about one metre long. Difficult to find photos of a crewman right next to the miniature, but I know they're out there.

I think they used two different sizes of model- you can see them filming the larger scale one for the shots where it enters the water above.

You're right, maybe the one entering the water was the metre-long model and one in sub mode smaller again.

I found a better shot of the smaller Esprit model, it was indeed hand-held on strings - a very simple idea, put to great effect, indeed.
