I do like SP, but it has its share of flaws.

I said this before somewhere, but Spectre is an odd duck in that while I absolutely love it, I agree with about 90% of the criticism of the film.

Hear hear. I actually like it, and think certain aspects will age fairly well. I'd offer that it's probably the best looking Bond film, on screen.

My main complaint is probably about wasted potential. Given the talent and the budgets involved, the rights to Spectre finally secured, and etc., it could have been better. A lot better.

Same here. I think the look and cast saves the movie, at least to a degree.

I generally like the bits of Serra's score that are offbeat. It's his orchestral pieces I don't like. They're sappy and melodramatic.

"Ladies First" by the great ERIC SERRA is the single greatest Bond track of all time. Yes, it's better than the James Bond Theme. There, I said it.

    I agree.

I'd say the best Bond track that isn't the Bond theme itself is perhaps Bond Lured to Pyramids.

Escape from Piz Gloria is one of Barry's best! Can't get enough of that track.

What's next? Make It Last All Night over Bond strapped to the laser table in Goldfinger? Die Another Day over Tracey's death? The Experience of Love over the Casino Royale parkour sequence?

Beats me. Apparently, to a certain fella, everything is better than "The James Bond Theme". ;)

If you ask me Serra's sounds are the main culprit of the feel of beeing a dated movie. In other words, he set off the sounds that killed it.

That's what I feel about GE, even though I love it.

If they ever did another prequel book/movie on Bond's younger life, Kincade would be a great supporting character to bring back. He didn't get enough time in Skyfall.

How's this? IMO the most perfect Bond movie is a toss up between FRWL & TLD.

In terms of Cold War thrillers, I can respect that. Two strong performances from two of my favorite Spielberg supporting character actors: Robert Shaw and John Rhys Davies.

Of course “Ladies First” is not better than the James Bond Theme, but I still like it.

It's not even a debate for me. TLD is good but FRWL is far superior. Just with the casting and the villains it blows TLD out of the water.

I wouldn't say the 'greatest'. I wouldn't even say one of the better ones, given how many great tracks this series has given us (most, regrettably, more than 25 years ago now).

However, I do enjoy this track very much, think it fits the scene very well, and have never quite understood the dislike for it. The scratchy, playful, but also rather annoying nature of it suits Ms. Onatop's character to a tee. She uses sex as a weapon, and so it's apropos that the tune is somewhat reminiscent of a cheap pornographic film.

I always look forward to the part where Serra weaves in the Bond theme. Nicely done.
  • YOLT is the best Bond film of the 1960s.

The script can be illogical. And Connery looks a bit disengaged, especially compared to his wonderful performance in Thunderball. Still, there is Ken Adam’s volcano, which is the greatest villain’s lair in the franchise. Speaking of “greatest villains”, Donald Pleasence turns Blofeld into one of the great villains in cinema history. And I suppose the gyrocopter provided by Q is the best 007 vehicle, ahead of the jet pack and Aston Martin DB5. Lastly, Connery gets to wear that Navy uniform. “Commander Bond” indeed.

    Very interesting.

I don't agree at all that YOLT is the best in the series in that particular decade. But, I do understand where you're coming from in spite of all my issues with the film itself.
