This and the superb 'Journey to Blofeld's hideaway', help make these the best moments of OHMSS for me. I get such a buzz where Barry's music peaks as the Jet Ranger reaches the summit and 'Over and out' is nicely menacing too! Barry is an undoubted genius and the Bond series wouldn't have been the same without him!
Except for some seaspray? And he looks like he showered.
As well as The Man With The Golden Gun.
Ha, OK, thanks, @Samuel001! I wasn't so sure about Bond's breakout from the karate school. ;-)
"I got a brotha"
Is also THIS GUY
I swear, fact is stranger than fiction sometimes!!
Oh, my gosh! My brain just melted. @DarthDimi was way ahead of everyone else!
1. M threatens to replace Bond with the unseen 008 twice — first in Goldfinger and then in The Living Daylights.
2. Sean Connery is the only Bond to never have any scenes in the snow. He seems to know his skiing per Goldfinger, though.
3. George Lazenby is the only Bond to never have a car chase. The OHMSS car chase featured Tracy at the wheel.
4. George Lazenby is also the only Bond to never have a car with notable gadgetry installed. Connery had the DB5, Moore had the Lotus, Dalton had the Vantage, Brosnan had, well, all of his, and Craig had the DB10.
5. Lazenby is the only Bond who never carried any particularly exotic in-field gadgets. The most he had was a safecracker, a telescopic sight and a camera.
6. Lazenby is the only Bond who straight up overpowers an ultra-big henchman. All the other Bonds find their attacks fail miserably and are frequently thrown around.
7. Roger Moore is the only Bond to never get behind the wheel of an Aston Martin, despite playing Bond the longest. In fact, since Connery, every Bond has been in an Aston Martin in their first movie.
8. Roger Moore is the only Bond to not be introduced with any hint of mystery (unseen at first or obscured by shadow). The opening shot after the LALD credits zooms out to reveal him straight up. On the other hand, Connery has the distinction as the only Bond to be introduced like that twice, since he left the franchise and came back to it in 1971.
9. Moore is also the only Bond to not be featured in his first PTS.
10. Timothy Dalton is the only Bond who never has a one-on-one fisticuff on solid earth with a noteworthy character. His hands are bound in the prison fight in TLD, his fight with Necros was outside a plane, and his barbrawl fight in LTK was against no-namers. Connery has fought Dr No, Red Grant, Oddjob, Peter Maivia, Peter Franks, etc. Lazenby has fought Draco's thugs, Moore has fought Sandor, Jaws and various other thugs, Brosnan has fought 006 and a few thugs, and Craig has fought various thugs.
11. Timothy Dalton is also the only Bond to never encounter ultra-big henchmen.
12. Pierce Brosnan is the only Bond to not to star in a movie with a title taken from Fleming.
13. The illusion of Bond "dying" was a common theme in the early PTSes, especially the ones with Terrence Young — in FRWL a fake Bond is strangled to death and in TB the opening shot is of a coffin with the initials "J.B." on them. YOLT did this again by having Bond appear to be killed. In DAF, this is reversed when Bond instead appears to kill the main villain Blofeld, who is revealed to be a fake/the real one survived after the fact. This is mentioned in the DAF commentary.
14. To memory, Goldfinger is the only Bond film where no blood is seen.
15. To memory, Moonraker is the only Bond film where Bond never fires his Walther. I can't remember if he even draws it.
I recently saw an interview with Connery on the Tonight Show and he tells this story!
What about riding in Draco's Rolls Royce?
Changing it to Roger Moore on second thought. Don't remember him being in a convertible, as long as we aren't counting the severed Renault in AVTAK.
Wasn't he in a convertible with Goodnight in TMWTGG?
The full interview (35 minutes) can be seen here: https://m2m.tv/watch/m. Very interesting fellow – painter, poet and restaurateur.
