1. We all submit our lists (if not already)
2. Based on the number of times a particular film shows up on several lists then that film will be added to the final list
3. In the end we should have how many on the list? five? Seven?
I'm open to suggestions :) 8-|
For this look at what makes a "classic" film, I want personally want both. I do not think we will ever all agree on what exactly makes a classic Bond film. That's fine with me and does not bother me. But we can share our reasons and have fun with this, and I think that is illuminating and a worthwhile endeavor.
Therefore, I want two lists: One of classic Bond films as determined by only Originals, and a fuller list that includes them along with everyone else.
I think there should be no problem with 2 lists. I am personally interested in the Originals of course, but I do want a complete list with everyone else, too. I really want to see what everybody else thinks is a classic Bond film, especially those who have all along participated nicely here (some @BeatlesSansEarmuffs mentioned, but other members, too; folks who are not on here regularly but want to put together a well thought out list).
At the moment, I am not limiting the number of films to be considered classic (say 8 or 10). I don't want that pinned down. I want us to look at all the lists people give us first. then decide if it should be 8 or 10 or 12, whatever.
So ... let's take 3 more days to get our "final" call, our final list of classic Bond films posted here. That gives people time to get back on the forum if they are busy, and I want to ask other Originals to participate, too. So let's say 3 more days.
That's the way I'd like us to proceed. And I'll get you my list soon, but I don't think I am trimming it. ;)
Dr. No
From Russia With Love
Goldfinger
Thunderball
The Spy Who Loved Me
For Your Eyes Only
The Living Daylights
Goldeneye
Casino Royale
Skyfall
I cannot include OHMSS, though others certainly will. It has been appreciated more over time, I know that. But it falls so far short for me, and I do not consider it to be a great film at all (no matter how much I like Diana Rigg in it). So personally, I simply cannot include it and I won't.
NOTE: There have been some very good statements as to what comprises a "classic" Bond film, why a film should be looked upon as a classic. There is no one set definition.
Please do join us and give us our list of Bond films you consider to be truly classic. We will wrap this part (people giving their list of classic Bonds) in 3 days, August 29th.
We will then put together a list of classics as chosen by Originals and a list of classics by everyone pooled together (Originals and nonOriginals). I greatly appreciate @BeatlesSansEarmuffs for helping with the recordkeeping. Cheers!
Ive made a few but this my final list. No more changes

Tomorrow never dies- The appreciation thread for this film has made realize how many icoic moments it has and all those moments make a great case to consider this film a classic.
Casino Royale
Skyfall
There is no very firm clear path to "classic" (though excellent discussion on previous pages helps clarify how we all feel about what makes a 'classic') - but I ask all to really give thought to this and not only list favorites or a hugely popular film. Granted, favorites and classics may go hand in hand majority of time. So do make this a serious list, take some time and thought for it. From what I can see, I think everyone who has responded in this thread on this topic (not just recently) are trying to do just that. Thank you! :-bd
Yes, @vzok - include if you feel it is actually a classic Bond film.
I am personally not overly fond of Thunderball, but it is on my list.
OHMSS is not because, for me, I have to consider the film to be an overall great Bond film and I do not feel that way about OHMSS. I will probably be the only one not counting it as classic, but I just cannot. I can live with that.
@Szonana, I love TND and wanted it on my classic list. It is Pierce's best Bond, in my opinion, and one of my favorite Bond films. I felt Goldeneye overall had the edge, is widely respected, and also helped recharge the franchise, so I went with just that one for Pierce. Of course, your list may vary from others' lists. I do have four of Sean's on my classic list.
I appreciate the extra info, @CommanderRoss, and do look forward to hearing their opinions. Thanks! Should be interesting, for sure. :-?
Thanks for your list, @Thunderfinger. I like your list, though we differ a little. Nice to see Spectre on it. I do enjoy that film. Flak probably coming your way for that, but who cares? Tell them to hop on Little Nelly & go finish their own list. ;)
I added Tomorrow never dies at last minute because i relized it has the elements of a classic at lewts some which is a good cuople of iconic and well remembered moments.
Maybe its not as highly rated as the others but fans seem to like it and has its very unforgettable moments. Believe me im trying to be as objective as possible if was just my favorites The world is not enough would have been the first on my list but i know its not so well loved.

Some films seem to be a staple for us. This will shape up very interesting.
Anyway, the public can bog off..my own personal 'classic Bonds' are :
FRWL.....TB...OHMSS...TSWLM..OP....CR....seriously,thats it...i deem these as my classic Bond films for me.
@barryt007 - our previous pages discussed different aspects that we consider important to make a Bond film classic .... but there is no set list of criteria. Our lists will vary. Happy to have you here; thanks for joining us.
Somebody lists 20 as classics; that's a different thing.
But I do think these two lists, once finalized, should be very interesting to see. B-)
In my world, Roger Moore was very popular as the Saint and was looked upon favorably as the next Bond, before people even saw him on the screen. But he put his own style and charm into the role and it did feel like a sigh of relief and a breath of fresh air - and onwards the Bond series went.

No, LALD is mostly spot on, @Birdleson. And the humor was silly, yes, but perfect for Moore. A good sign of things to come.
Therefore I changed my list. Left out a few favourites like LTK and YOLT.
While I consider both TSWLM and DN undisputable classics, they just miss out on my top 10.
Yes it does have some very Bondian moments and well I clarified on how objective im trying to be here since im often very Pro Brosnan but this thread required to be much more objective hehe.
Have a look at my GF thread ,a classic maybe, but not a classic to me....close,but no cigar ;)
