Did WB make the call to CGI the 'stache out, as it would go faster, or did Cruise refuse that Cavill shave it off and thus wear a fake one in M:I:6 because 'we do it for real in this franchise'?
SUPER-HERO? ON WHOSE SIDE?!
The route they're taking to hide it now is likely due to the time constraints - Cavill was initially supposed to be able to finish M:I before having to do reshoots on this, which are pricier and more extensive than usual for a film. Same issue with Ezra Miller and jumping back and forth between this and the 'Fantastic Beasts' sequel.
On top of the extra $25 million they're sinking into it, whereas apparently on average reshoots only run $5-10 million.
With all the advancements in hair and makeup couldn't Cavill just wear a prosthetic tash? So many issues can be easily solved but some folks prefer to do things the hard way.
I like to think he'll spend the next two months wandering the set with cruddy green paint awkwardly staining his mustache.
I hope they won´t reshoot many closeups ;-).
The story says Paramount refused to have Cavill shave off his mustache.
It really is insane, and it's also very worrying. Reshoots on these projects aren't new or out of the ordinary, but Christ. This tells me that Joss and Warner are working overtime to fix whatever was left when Snyder departed, and I worry that a lot of last minute changes are being made that will come off as forced and incongruous in the final cut.
The movie already has a built in box office risk, but adding so much more money to a bloated budget won't help. Warner are not Disney, nor can they afford so many movies with no legs on them.

I love this character. Grumpy and misanthropic, but he sure knows how to get things done!
There's also an untitled X-Men film on November 22nd and 'Frozen 2' on November 27th.
That one is for November 2018, I think? Not sure though.
Completely forgot about those. Looks like Bond 25 is going to have a fair bit of competition.
Just curious, what movie is that from?
Well they really could not make the film without her *rollseyes*
It would be interesting, but the shock of a Murder Batman will be gone and not feel like a big deal because of how Affleck's Batman was portrayed. "You kill? Well guess what, so does your little boy all grown up in another universe. Trippy, huh?" That's why Thomas's Batman was so interesting, in that he was a polar opposite to how Bruce would've acted. Now, there is no difference between them, just who can be more sadistic in killing.
I just want them to go away and get the Flash movie made at this point. One wonders how many more director changes or plot rewrites it can have before they just give up. The only films I am interested in seeing from the entire possible ones are Wonder Woman's, Man of Steel 2 and maybe Green Lantern Corps. because of the potential for a space buddy cop film. I'll hold out on Aquaman until I see a trailer, but I'm more hopeful than I was a year ago at least.
It's funny because I think DC are where Marvel has been for me for a while, before around 2016 when things changed in a big way. I don't really care for the exploits of most of the characters outside Cap and maybe Tony in the MCU, but at this stage in the films we'll be getting new Spider-Man and Black Panther films and that finally does excite me in a way the "old" Marvel didn't outside a couple of characters. Civil War was less important to me as a movie, and more valuable as a sign of cool things to come. I think I'll end up enjoying the second half of the MCU than I did the first half, if things go well.
But with DC, my interest is just dead and even if they have great premises, I don't trust them to follow through with them with any kind of skill. They couldn't adapt The Dark Knight Returns at all, they absolutely ruined Suicide Squad and that brilliant idea, and who knows what else is coming.
True they have undermined Flashpoint Batman as you point out there is not enough contrast, perhaps if Batfleck had a few films to establish a more restrained Batman it may work better. I liked BvS though DC/Warner have set there stall out. JL looks way too CGI heavy my enthusiasm for JL is luke warm at best, I have yet to see WW though friends love it I suspect I will. Across Marvel and DC if a film appears with great writing I may awaken from my superhero hangover, think I am becoming desensitised to CG superhero effects as we have seen it all before.
New characters as in new to cinema is the way to go, Black Panther looks interesting though hopefully it won't fall into generic Marvel category.
I wish DC had the courage to do close adaptions with minor tweaks only, so many great story's available to them.
Hollywood seem to panic across the board now not exclusive to DC and Marvel, Star Wars is suffering from the fear of going too far beyond the formula comfort zone. Admittedly DC still not found there formula.
