  To state the obvious: Mr. Morman created one of the most enduring themes in film history. Its beyond sad that he won't be here for the official date of Bond's 60th.

  Found out tonight that one of my closest friends passed away last month.
  Jason was a great guy, huge movie fan, and longtime co worker.
  His passion for Marilyn Monroe movies equaled my passion for Bond. In fact, that enthusiasm for Marilyn rubbed off on me to the extent it led to my falling for a beautiful blonde who travelled across the world to be with me. My girlfriend was a big Marilyn fan to say the least. That essentially made Jason the best matchmaker possible. Hard to fathom they're both gone now.
  RIP, brother. Love you and you'll be missed.

  Uwe Seeler, a lifetime footballer for the Hamburger SV as well as team captain (and later honorary captain) of the German national team, including at the 1966 World Cup with the (in-)famous final at Wembley, died at the age of 85. Seeler made special headlines, in the early Sixties, by rejecting an offer from Inter Milan which would have earned him a million Deutsche Marks annually (an incredible sum 60 years ago!) in favour of staying in Hamburg. He also was made an honorary citizen of Hamburg, and later became President of HSV for a few years.
  
  I'm not among the real football (that's soccer for you colonials) fan, but Seeler was a very special person revered by almost everyone in Germany, for his sporting achievements as well as for his modesty. They don't make 'em anymore like that.

  For our british readers, he was the co-creator of Judge Dredd. For our american readers, he was a prolific writer for such series as Batman, L.E.G.I.O.N. and Lobo. I had met him in a few british comic book conventions, and interviewed him twice for the fanzine I used to write for in the '90s. So, it's with great sadness that I have to announce that comic book writer Alan Grant has passed away, aged 73.
