  British actress Glynis Johns, famous for having played the suffragette mother in Mary Poppins, has passed away, aged 100. She was one of the first actresses I saw in a movie theater, given that Mary Poppins was the first movie I saw in a theater.

  He was not British, but German. And not an actor. But one of the greatest footballer ever: Franz Beckenbauer died at the age of 78. RIP.
  
  I would place him up there with Sir Bobby Charlton, Pelé, Maradona and Johann Cruijf.

  Peter Crombie who played 'Crazy' Joe Davola on Seinfeld sadly passed away on the 10th of January.
  He played a small but very memorable role of Joe Davola in several episodes of the popular comedy show.

  Telly Savalas remembered tonight on NPR's The Big Broadcast and its Sunday showcase of the Golden Age of Radio, music and drama from the 30s, 40s, 50s. (WAMU for me.)

  Composer Laurie Johnson has died. In addition to composing for The Avengers (and The New Avengers) he also worked on Kubrick's Dr. Strangelove. He was 96.
